  1. Of course i'm hanging in here lol.
  2. I chose bypass because I also have GERD/Ulcers. The sleeve often makes these issues exponentially worse and the bypass often eliminates these issues.
  3. You'll have to talk to the Aflac rep and find out exactly what they will cover. I will be using short term disability as well through my job. It will all be filed with the FMLA paperwork.
  4. Yes, Leslie told me that he'd be out 2 weeks this months. It'll all happen according to God's plan. I'm just happy to finally have the insurance approval since I was denied the first time.
  5. I'm now certain that won't happen. They are booking in July right now. Apparently he only does 2 per week.
  6. I use a tens device on my knees and my lower back. I haven't had surgery yet so I do have the benefit of my Meloxicam(Mobic) right now but i've been looking for other alternatives for post-op.
  7. Well, i've completed all my hurdles and have already been approved by insurance...i've even already dropped $1500 to my Dr but i've yet to get my date.
  8. This would be a HUGE thing for me too. Not having the seat belt clicky thing digging into my hip.
  9. Welcome...i'm STILL waiting on my surgery date but it should definitely be in June.
  10. More energy....this is my #1 goal. Going to sporting events and not worrying if I fit in the stadium seats. Being able to walk more than a few yards without huffing and puffing. Being able to clothes shop in so many more stores...maybe I can finally buy something from Victoria's Secret/Pink for ME and not my daughters. Being able to wear boots without worrying about how high the will come on my calf.
  11. I hope to have the date any day now. I'm sure it'll be in June.
  12. The procedure hasn't gotten so much better than when I first considered the surgery. I wouldn't worry too much over it....just think of how proud your babies will be to have a Mommy that can really play with them.
  13. I can honestly say the I have no fear now. However when I was much younger and had small children I considered having RNY and decided against it because of my fear of dying and leaving my small children without a Mommy. You have to remember though that back in the early/mid 90s the procedure wasn't as safe as it is now.
  14. I've kept my coworkers and boss in the loop all during the last year as I jumped through all the hoops. They've all been very supportive. I'm expecting to take 3 weeks off work.
  15. What fun can I look forward to with the pre-op instructions?
  16. No, but i'm calling the office billing folks this morning to pay my $1500 so they can schedule me
  17. Oh gosh, i'd be insane by now lol...it's been a year for me but I finally got approved.
  18. Congrats...and i'm having bypass as well. As for last tests, i'm sure it's basic tests to make sure that we are healthy enough for surgery...labs and probably ekg.
  19. Congrats on getting approved. I've been trying for weeks to get the financial group that handles the hospital's billing to tell me how much i'll owe them up front.
  20. I plateaued towards the end of my 6 months. It's not that unusual. If we could maintain a diet long term, we wouldn't need surgery. I'm not sure what advice to give about postponing your appt. If your insurance doesn't have any stipulations about your weight during the diet, it should be ok. I'd keep the appt and if it's bad, then just ask them for another week to get it back on track before sending in the notes from that visit.
  21. My office wouldn't send anything in for insurance approval until i'd met all the requirements with diet and testing. Once that was done and we had the approval, I had to pay my surgeon's office $1500(my deductible) before they would schedule surgery.
