  1. Lovegrapes - welcome welcome. There is so much support from this wonder folks. Enjoy your new journey!
  2. Hello, my name is Lynn, I too am addicted to the scales. I use to hate the scale, but after my lapband, I thought I would try it just once. Then before you know it I was weighing everyday. I am ashamed to say it but, I have even used it 3 times in one day. But S.A. (Scales Ananomous ) has helped me see that I can have overcome this addiction!
  3. Oh My Gosh, Special K you must be so excited. It doesn't matter what the number - but getting into NEW numbers is so exciting and your achievment is outstanding. I can feel your excitment through cyber space! Keep it going. I am still in Florida. The kids all left, I am staying another week and My husband is flying down. I finally got the nerve to go into the workout facility here. Just as I suspected. Skinny people with cute little outfits.... some day:wink_smile: Oh well we are getting there huh, special K?
  4. OK fellow 5K "ers" I am going to RUN the Reindeer Run in November. Last year I walked most of it. You have all inspired me. I am about 3 weeks post banded. I am beyond feeling fabulous. I am going to stat the Podrunner over strting with week one on Sunday. Wish me luck! If it is too easy - I will move on to week 2. I have lost about 19 pounds. While on vacation. I carried my grandson around on the beach for a long walk. He weighes 23 pounds. Wow, it is amazing how harder it was to carry that weight. For those of you who have lost 30 40 50 plus pounds - way to go. You must feel so much better. Did you see that commercial that says if you loss 5 pounds ; it takes like 15 pounds of pressure off of your knees.(I can't remember the exact amount, but it was alot) Bonnie - thanks for starting this thread - you have changed a lot of lives with this podrunner idea. Good job friend.
  5. Kathy the words your sent to Leslie is exactly what I was going to say to her. You said it so well, nice job. Leslie - your DH want to be there with you; but his reluctance is about him. He wants to support you, but it is hard for him to get past his issues. I think you need to let him find his own time and motivation; just as we had to do it in our own time. He sounds like a great guy. You are Blessed. Be patience with him. As our bodies and self esteem changes so will our relationsships with other people. Believe it or not; we will have to help them through the changes too.
  6. I am with you sisters! I do not have the restriction I had the first week after surgery; but I am maintaining the eating routine my doctor gave me. It isn't easy, but I am motivated. This is the "white knuckle" part of the journey. Let's hold on to each other and get it done. We will be so proud.
  7. I am still on vacation with my family in Florida. I could stand it any longer so I wen to Taget and bought a set of scales. I am at 181!!! I weighed 184 the day we left for Florida. Never in my life have I lost weight on vacation. My skinny kids and skinny grandchildren are very supportive and know exactly what I should be eating - there are spies everywhere! That helps. I weghted 199.6 at my first surgeon's appointment May 29, 196 the day of surgery: July 16th, I am 2 weeks post op at 181!! 18 pounds is great for me! I am a slow loser. My first fil is scheduled for Sept 2. I could really use some restriction.
  8. Frome Joiful - lynlynkr-do you know why my left side would be hurting? It started on Sunday. I feel tired a lot to. I am not back to normal and I was banded on July 4th. Could the band be slipping? I hope you can help me. To Joiful - Well, I am going to start with the obvious - have you had a bowel movement? Has all of the operative gas passed your system? My suggestion would be to call your physicains office. When do you see your doctor next? I am sure your physician would want to hear about anything you think is concerning. I think slippages are rare, but can happen. I think like most people we tend to worry about the worst case senerio; usualy it isn't the case, but it is worth investigating. Let us know what you fine out.
  9. Special K - I will get my first fill in the radioloy department, right? I have to be there at 1230 in the testing center; for a 1:30 appointment. Sounds like Dr. Choban has another busy day! Thanks for he information on the Banster Hell! As guess as long as I know it is normal and nothing is wrong - I will struggle through it. Yikes. I sure liked the full feeling better than this. Were you still able to loss weight during this time or is it on hold until your fill? OK, I will grim and bear it.
  10. Today is the first day I felt hungry and it was alittle scary. I haven't gone over my calorie intake for the day, but I ate some ice cream on the beach. (my first bad girl) I get my first fill Sept 2! That is a month away. I am concerned about the hunger from now til then. I have only experience a feeling like something was stuck once (early on - too much soup.) Now everything seems to slide right down. Any suggestions?
  11. Not being able to run for a few weeks is a bummer. I want to stay with it, but I was thrilled to get my band; so it isworth it. My plan, when the doctor clears me to run (as advised by my buddies here!) I plan to start with over with week one the first day of the first week; week 2 the second day of the first week, see how I am doing and maybe week 3 the3rd day of the first week. Then the second week work on week 4. Having said that; my body may have another plan, so we will take it one day at a time. You are going to have beautiful legs when you are running down the path!!! Good luck to you
  12. I would say your body and doctor will be the best determination of when you will be able to sleep on your stomach again. Certainly weight loss wil play a big part of it, but if you are having muscularskeletal issue; that is another ball game all together. Did you get physical therapy for your shoulder? I know what you mean though, I am a belly sleeper too! It is the best, but someone told me once that when people prefer to sleep on their bellies, it can be a symptom of sleep apnea. It is the bodies way of seeking an easier breathing pattern. (another weight issue) Just my opinion, but check with your doctor, stay off the tummy until your get your bones healthy.
  13. A voice of reason is always a freind. You are right, I should wait. I am so inpatience! I want it all Now! It won't hurt for me to just continue to walk until I see Dr. Choban when I get back from vacation. I guess that is why I posted; I knew the answer, but needed a real grown up to say, "No" do what your doctor told you! Thanks friend. Your walking not running bandster, Lynn:unsure:
  14. It could be the stress incontence, a bladder infection, or any number of combinations. I had a similar situation and now take Detrol. (commercial: gotta go, gotta go) It helps. the running can put added stress on your bladder. In the meantime a pantie liner is your best friend.
  15. I am so excited for all of you getting banded this week. You are finally able to have some control in this wacky process. Now you get to use that great band as the tool you wanted to get yourself health and fit. May God's love and protection surroud you and your healh care team throughout your journey. May God grant you the patience and understanding to gain physical strength and wisdon to share with others. Enjoy the journey. I am so happy I made this decision.
  16. I am on vacation in Florida with my family. I was worried if I could handle post op liquids and vaction. It has only been one day, but it is going well. I move to mushie food on Wednesday and am nervous. I don't want to loss my momuntum. did you all notice a big slow down in weight loss when you graduated from liquids? Banded July 16 Highest 199.6 Surgery day 196 Current 183 Goal 130!!!! (PS, DRH, I will be back to work soon - keep the place in ship sharp!)
  17. I can't believe I am saying this but I can't wait to run any longer. I got banded July 16th. I feel totally fine. Even my port area feels fine. I am on vacation in Florida this week. I have been walking like crazy, but I want to run. I went back to work on my 5th post op day - no problems. So this is the "Plan" : what if I go to the work out facility and do day one of week one! Just start over! I am on vacation, so if it is too much; I wll just cool it! (I really think I will be fine) What do you think, am I crazy! (OK, bad question - we all know the answer to that.) Don't you think I will be ok. I am a nurse and understand my limits. Thoughts, please? Highest 199.6 Surgery day 196 Current 183 Goal 130 Lynn
  18. No big deal! I was so afraid I would not be able to handle vacation and band"age", it is OK. Stayed on my liquids (yogart. adkins advantage, apple sauce, and for dinner we went to PF Changs.. got the hot sour soup!! Yummy in my tummy. There are no working scales in he condo, but I am going to venture ouver to the workout facility and spend some time on the tredmill and hopefully weigh in. (A new obsession) I use to never get on the scales. Now I hop on 3 times a day, because I am s amazed to see those numbers. I move to mushies on Wednesday and am nervous and excited. Yes I want Food, but I don't want to stop the progress. I know I cant expect to loss 12 pounds in a week like last week; but it was so encouraging! Off to the beach with my grandchildren and Adkin's Advantage! (Their little skinny butts are having Peanut butter and Jelly and a juice box!) Hey when you lost weight where did you see it first? Face, boobs?
  19. If you are able; Another trick for releaving the gas pains - sleep on your stomach. the conpression helps and also gas moves through your bowels to be expelled in the morning. I know that isn't socially polite to discuss; but I am a nurse and our motto is "better out than in!" The tricky part is rollong over to your tummy pos op - take your time.
  20. I am on vaction in Florida with my family and on liquids (Banded July 16th) On Wednesday I can begin mushie food, but I want to stay low carb; any suggestions? H199.6/S196/c184/G130:blink:
  21. OK, vacationing with my new band hasn't been too bad. I was nervous about vacation food temptations. I am surpraised about the psychological connection with the banded stomach and the brain! Normally, I would be eting everysea creature and tasty treat know to the sushine state. But I am not. I am able to "do" my liquids and be satisfied. Unbelievable! Wednesday I am allow to start mushie foods. I am looking forward to Salmon. Now I am getting paranoid, because I am have done so well on the 2 weeks of liquids with the band (Highest 199.6/ Surgery day196/ current 184/ goal 130) I am afraid when I go the "Real food", I might gain the 15 pounds back. Did anyone else think this way? My first fill is scheduled for Sept. 2. and I really think this will be important as I am concerned about being about to eat more than my 1 cup a meal. Any suggestionw will be helpful. I just don't want to mess this up - it is going sooooo well. I love my little buddy; "Bandy" Going to the beach today with my children and grandchildren. Life is good and skinny feels GREAT!
  22. The Wendy's chili idea sounds great. I will try it. I am leaving for Florida with my daught and her family and my son and his family in the morning. I am nevous. I am 10 days post op feel great and have lost 13 pounds. I don't want to loss my momentum. I will have my laptop so I will stay motivated by the groups encouragement. 199/184/130
  23. I would just like to thank you Renewed, for all you do with your foster kids and the whole bunch! There is no greater work and love on earth than what you are doing. I wish you all the success in your health seeking jouney. Keep running!:biggrin2:
  24. Banded July 16 and I feel great. I went to work on Monday and today- no problems. I have lost 10 pounds in 6 days which is outstanding for me. Today was the first day I experienced hunger. I was afraid of the feeling and thought oh no what will I do with this! I had my usual liquid dinner and was fine. I know alot of this right now is physical healing and psychological strength, but I am doing it! I too look forward to mushie food, but no complainting - I am happy I did this and will experience every new step with wonder and excitment. Good luck to all who are about to be banded. And if you are still in the researching mode- Just do it!:ihih::seeya::thumbup:
