  1. We have the same band date July 16th. Mine is at 1230, Columbus Ohio
  2. I am ready! I do the pre-op EKG, chest x-ray, post-op education June 26th I see Dr. Choban July 15 Surgery arrival 10:30 for 1230 surgery. I want to be able to look good and feel better at home, work, and play. Good luck to everyone How about Star Spangled Bandsters!!!
  3. Glad to hear your fill went smoothly. cc's equals ml.
  4. Nikki, Thanks for the detailed instructions I feel offical now.:incazzato:
  5. 50 really bothered me. 30 and 40 were nothin'. I think because of the weight, it was getting to me. My feet, knees, hips, and back hurt. I am hoping that will get better after the weight loss. My brain is 30, (except for the occasional memory "pauses") Oh, Hell, who am I kiddin' - I am 50 and working to be the best 50 I can be! My grandchildren are my energy source!:incazzato:
  6. Thanks, Greg, Niki, and SpecialK, My coworker DRH was banded in May (she has lost 20 pounds:thumbup:) I followed her through her process every step of the way. Then, I decided I needed to get on the wagon. Lot's of MCHS employees are taking the leap. I know of 3 others in the insurance circus right now. As far as the band size goes, I think it would be benefitual to have the large. But, I would image it is based on physical adaptation as well. I think the whole thing is fascinating and makes perfect sense as a quantity control device. I will work on my ticker today, wish me luck. Today is my big 50th birthday. I have requested no cake and ice-cream. Just some birthday Brats!! (ADKINS) Joy to all, Lynn:wink_smile:
  7. I can offically join you group. From the sound of everyone's post, I am in good company. Today is my 50th birthday. Although, my exciting news is my lap band surgery is July 16th. I have read the good bad and ugly about the band and I am convienced this support group will be critical for my support. My husband (by the way what does DH, DD stand for) is very supportive, as is the rest of my family, but there is nothing like living examples. So welcome back to the returning folks and that's for allowing me to join in.:driving: I think I would rather be 30, but it has been a great life so far.:incazzato:
  8. I have spent way to much time trying to get my weight chart to show up. I created it but can't figure out where to insetrt it. Help!
  9. Greg, SpecialK,et al, I appreciate your comments, I do not consider it rambling at all. I am a Nurse manager at the Women's Health Center at St Ann's. I do not do heavy lifting, so I you are both right, I think I will be fine with surgery on Wednesday and returning to work on Monday. I feel better hearing your thoughts. Hey, do I understand this correctly. Dr. Choban does not allow put a fill in at the time of surgery? I also think I just realized that there are different size bands. Hummmmm, what is the determining factor on size? When I was at Dr. Choban office there were several people in the waiting room and I wonder if they posted on this site. I mentioned to Dr. Choban that I watch a LB surgery on You Tube; she was amazed it was on there.
  10. Thanks Greg, I appreciate your thoughts. It does make sense. According to you tickler, you are well on track with your progress. (Pun intended) I hate waiting for things. But, it is always worth it in the long run. I have been practicing chewing more. That is a new skill for me. I ususally swallow things almost whole. and I understand eaing slowly is a skill as well. My 50th Birthday is tomorrow. To C:wub:ke or not to Cake; that is the question?
  11. It is you brain hunger. You do not need the calories. Tell your brain to shut up - it isn't really hungry. Get completely away from food! Go shopping, look at old photos, go for a walk. You can do it
  12. I actually loved my psych eval. It was a general talk about my current eating habits, my weight history, support system, what I know about lap band and how I entend to use it as a tool". I felt supported and encouraged. I also found connecting the threads of my weight history really told a story of how I got to where I am. I think it was very helpful. It wasn't too deep
  13. YEAH for you. I am so excited for you. Isn't it strange that youput on a shirt one day and it is too tight. The next time you try it on it fits. It ain't the shirt; it's you. You did it. Great success story. It encourages me to keep on track.
  14. Question One: I am in a teetering situation. I (fortunately) have a low end BMI for the Lap band surgery. I want to loss weight NOW! But will that hinder anything with my surgery? I have my surgery date (July 16) I weighted in at 199.6 @ 5'2 when I saw Dr. Choban. I have been on Atkin's since then. Today my weight is 191.6. Do you think I should hold my weight where it is or is it ok to keep on the Adkins and trying to loss as much as possible prior to surgery. What would you all do? Second question. I read a lot on this site about people who have gotten their bands removed for one reason or another. It seems that most of them do not want to "live" with the band restriction any more. Was this a concern for you prior to your surgery? Any input is appreciated.:(
  15. I just recieved word from Charlene that my surgery will be July 16th. I was hoping for Jne, but Dr. Choban is going on vacation. Probably needs a vacation after all you June bandsters!!! I have a couple questions: 1. If surgery is on Wednesday do you think I can go back to work on Monday? 2. I have vacation scheduled (Florida) for July 26th???? Do you think this will be a problem? Thanks for all the support and advise, Lynn:lol:
  16. Smart breath is a 2 bottle mouthwash product that is great. It is a wallmart (top shelf). It leave a funny littl taste in your mouth, but no bad breath.
  17. As I sat in Andrea's class on nutrition, I looked around the room and wondered if any of you were there. I met a nice lady after class named Antrinette (probably spelled wrong) and I referred her to this web site. I told her how supportive and enlightening I have found it. There were probably 12 people in that class and as I listened to them ask questions, I realized how much more I knew just by reading your posts. Therefore, I would like to thank everyone who posts their great questions and for those of you who continue to share your wisdom. It has been invaluable to me and I am sure it is nvaluable to many others. I am, like many of you, awaiting my surgery date. I am ready to get my outside self to match my inside self. Keep those posts coming.
  18. Jillian, I am in your boat. I know my surgery date is approaching , therefore I keep thinking; this could be my last.... pancake or ......(fill in the blank.) I know I should be using this time more wisely. How have the others made the transition? Maybe it is when they start the pre-op surgical liquid diet.
  19. I saw Dr. Choban today. I was hoping for a surgical date ... no such luck today. The final Sleep Apnea re-evaluation appointment is Thursday and we have to wait for her to recieve his final OK. Bummer. She said once she has the letter we will set the date. I know it is just a matter of days to weeks; but still .... you know! I saw a couple ladies in the waiting room and thought to myself, "I wonder if they post on this site" of course I couldn't or didn't say anything. But it was a warm feeling know that all of you have sat in those chairs, walked those halls, stood on those scales, and nervously awaited your surgical date along with me. I appreciate all of your insight and prior knowledge; it really has praved the road. Thank you, Lyn:thumbup:
  20. All of the clearances are in; I see my surgeon on Tuesday morning, I am expecting a June surgery date. I just got back from the store and bought all the liquid diet and protein stuff. It really did make it seem more real and I felt like I finally had control. (after jumping though all the hoops to get here) I am a nurse and have NO anxiety about the actual procedure. (I work at the health system in which the surgery will be performed) I am not worried about the liquid diet or the next 6 months, what I wonder about is the long term. I know this is a life long committement. I know I am ready to start it; I just hope I can maintain it. Do you know what I mean?
  21. I see you had a long road from start to banding. may I ask what took so long for you? I am sure you have shared your story, but I am realitively new. Are you an RN at MCHS? I am an RN at MCSA.
  22. :thumbup:How excited you must be tonight. Tomorrow is your big day. I do not have a date yet, but am hoping for June. I will be thinking of you all day. :leaving:
  23. Yippie Skippy I get my Cpap stuff Friday. My follow up appointment is May 29. I see Dr. Choban on May 27th. I am not sure how this is going to work wearing this things, but like all of you; I will do what I have to do to get to the goal! Do anyone really see a difference in their energy after Cpap?
