July Butterflies Master Thread
Good luck everyone. Also, if you are in the Optifast blues, it is going to be sooo worth your efforts. Every drink is a step closer. Thanks for the concern and you are right, I am suppose to be liquids only for two weeks. I didn't eat 3 days post op really. I had mashed potatoes that sat in my mouth until they were liquid. It was about 1/4 cup. I would never jepardise my lap band success. I really had no other choice. I did learn a lesson. (Bring your own food, just in case) I couldn't eat the wedding meal provided, but I felt weak (outside wedding 94 degreee heat). I had to get something in me. All in all, it worked out and we learned. Isn't that what this journey is all about learning to live thinner and healthier in a fat world?

My Husband is a good man and so supportive. I am so happy I made got the lap band. I know I can do it now and keep the pounds away forever! I am still drinking liquids for 2 weeks then go to mushie foods for two weeks. Is there that much difference between mushie and liquids? I did eat the mashed potatoes last night but I really let them desolve before I swollowed. It was more like cream of potatoe soup by the time it went down. (Sorry about the details.)

I am so excited! As you may remember, my lap band surgery was Wednesday July 16. I weighed in at 196.5 right before surgery. Post op day one I experienced dry heaves (related to pain meds), I questioned what I had done to myself. I got my answer! It was the best decision ever! Today is Sunday July 20th. Last night we went to a wedding that included a sit down dinner and a COOKIE BAR not to mention the open bar! Of course being 3 days post op, I didn't know what to expect. I was amazed at the large quantities of food. i wasn't anything I wouldn't have completely shoved in my mouth before; but it looked so overwelming. I played with the salad but didn't eat it. Then for the entrie - it was this huge paste chicken plate. There was no way to hide my not eating it from our friends. My husband went to the kitchen and came back with some mashed potatoes. I was so tocuched by his efforts. I gave him a kiss and everyone at the table said a kiss for potatoes! I ate a couple bite and felt completely satsfied. I told our friend about the surgery and they were very supportive. Matter of fact, they asked if they could have some of my potatoes. This morning I weighed in at 189.2!!!!!!! New numbers, I feel fabulous, and I couldn't be happier. I plan to take my dog for a walk this evening and feel good enough to go back to work tomorrow. If you haven't had your surgery yet; you are in for the greatest gift of you life. Enjoy the ride. Have a super day everyone!!!!! July Butterflies Master Thread
Yesterday was my special day. Everything went smooth as silk. However after surgery in my room, everytime a took an ice chip or anything I would start burping and then dry heaving. Mu doctor was concerned and ordered an upper GI Xray to verify the band is working. It was. Come to fine out it was the deliudid pain medication. Once we stopped that, I was fine. My tummy is a little swollen and tender, but not at all unbearable. If you are not banded and waitingl; just hang in there. I t will happen to you and so worth it.

Just home from the hospital. I had a minor complication from the pain medication - made me have dry heaves! Not fun at all. Dr. Choban in the morning and looked so concerned. She ordered an upper GI Xray (with Barium YUMMIE:sad_smile:) The band was fine. Once we identified it was the pain medication. I was fine too. My husband just made me dinner: chicken broth and jello. Sad thing is; it tastes great and I couldn't eat it all! I am so excited to see how this is going to work. I plan to follow the program to the letter. I just love Dr. Choban; she is so kind and helpful. I couldn't have gotten here without all of you. Thanks.

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Just got home from the hospital. Doing well. However, I had some complications and had to stay longer than we thought I would stay. DRY HEAVES! Holy smokes. Don't try this trick at home kids. The whole time I was thinking I am not suppose to do this; however it is involuntary. My doctor had a very concerned look on her face and ordered an upper GI series. I guess she though my band was too tight. I had to drink Baruim while the radiologist watch it go down passed the band. All was working well. As t turns out; it was the deliuded (pain Med) they were giving me. Once we stopped that all was well. I gained two pounds - my tummy is still very bloated - looks like a Macy's Day paraide balloon. I am suppose to walk every day, hw long should I wait until I run ?

I saw Dr. Choban today for my consent and final questions. I just love her. I am not nervous at all. My family friends and coworkers are so supportive. But undoubtably, This web site and all of you have been my lifeline of support -thank you all so much. I will be at MCW at 1030 and on the table at 1225. And so typical of my body - I started my period yesterday. Nice! I could decide what to have for dinner tonight - no liquid diet reqiued. My husband suggest since I have been working out and dieting for so long to enjoy a meal I plan to do without not a pig put but a nice size meal. By my request my husband is making me pancakes tonight!!!!! I will email you all on Thursday say a prayer for me.

Yeah Georgia girl, we ae sll with you. Each one of us (including you) took the hardest step the first one. It really does get better (I won't say easier) About one year ago I was working out with a personal trainer. She was all about the cardio work out. She had me doing what we are doing interval training. The second time we were outside and I had to run - I really though I could die right here on the street. But she keep encoraging over the weeks. (although I appreciated the support- I hated it too) Once I thought to myself "OK fine! I am going to run and when I die on the street- she is the one who is going to have to carry my dead fat body back to the gym!!! That will show her! Guess what I didn't die on the street and 4 months later I ran in my first 5k and she was by my side. I didn't run or even walk much after that and I decided I could do it on my own - then I gained 30 more pounds. I am getting my support from all of you as I regain my endurance. (If I die in the street you all have to come and carry my dead fat body back to the gym now! My trainer and I still email and she is as supportive as ever. I haven't told her I gained the 30 pounds. I get my lapband tomorrow and I plan to continue my inteval training. I hope to run in the Reindeer 5 K again in Dec. by her side. Georgiagirl - getting your breathing rythem is the hardest part; keep on truckin" Lynn I will let you know how I did with my surgery tomorrow. Say a prayer.

Mother Earth said to Father time, "what is that sound?" "What sound replied father time?" "Listen, it is a thump thump thump", said mother earth. "I can feel it on my surface, she confussed. Father time, smiled and said, " I know what that is ... it is the newly banded humans running interval couch to 5Ks all over the world" "Aren't they amazing!" said Father Time. "You know for all of their hard work and effort I am going to give each one of them extra time on earth." What will you do with your extra time? Have a great week everyone, Lynn:shades_smile:

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Now that I am 3 days away from my surgery date, I am so excited (not nervous at all) I added extra walk time to our (my Yorkie and my) c to 5k work out. a couple of physical issues I could use help with: 1. Shin splints 2. inner thighs rub together - ouch I have a blister. Isn't that a visual!! I have worn loose shorts and spandex - the ol' thunder thighs are rebelling! Any suggestions. When I got home from my work out I had my husband (Tom) take my offical before pictures with the digital camera - thank God Wal-mart photo deartment doesn't have to develop these beauties! I have been drinking the Adkins low carb protein drinks - I actually like them. Can you tell - I am so pumped up about creating the new Lynn. I don't know who I would be yaking to if I didn't have you all. Hey, would it be great to run our first 5k together? We could be "BANDED AND BONDED!!!! By the way Renewedhope, my ballot jumps over the puddles were breathtakingly scary! Even my dog was embarrassed.

Thanks for the inspiration. I have a long term goal of running a full marathon some day. It is great to see the achievements you have made. By the way I am a huge Green Bay Packer fan!! (since the 60s when I was a little girl.) I cried when Brent retired. My husband likes the Patriots. (Brady fan) Truthfully he is an underdog fan. (Although the Patroits aren't underdogs) I live in Ohio - Go bucks! I love football Well, the rain has stopped in Columbus, my Yorkie (Todd) and I are off for our morning run. I hate getting my shoes wet - it feels yucky:sad::tt1: Maybe I will include some unique ballot jumps over the puddles.

I didn't think it was too bad. My running partner stayed right by my side. Don't be too impressed - he is a Yorkshire Terrior and he LOVE this walk/run thing!!!! As soon as I get the leash he get excited. He stay right by my side- he doesn't pull to lead or lag behind. How sad is that; I run as fast as a Yorkie!!!! I think I will do week 2 Sunday Monday and Tuesday. My surgery:tt2: is Wednesday. How long after surgery do you have to wait to run? Oh my gosh, did I just say "WAIT" to run. I really am proud to achieve exercise goals as well as weight loss goal. I am so proud of all of you, you keep me motivated. Let's have fun! Lynn:lol:

Well I have to stop losing weight WTH!
From the voice of experience: Do you like Chinese food? Eat a health high sodium dinner the night before and start drinking lots of Water. It will hold the water weight and will be easier for you to loss after your appointment. Again heavy clothing and ach your back way out when you get measured so you will be alittle shorter. Isn't this all rediculous! Life is a game, and you have to know the rule if you want to win!!!!! I have a low BMI and had to be self pay - but I still had to not loss weight prior to my first appointment with the surgeon. Even with self pay the docs have a weight minimun.
