Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Oh Kathy I am so proud of you. You have encouraged me and pushed me so many times. You deserve all the successes this world can offer. You have pushed yourself and all of us and your rewards are fitting. Kathy the runner!!!!! You ran a 5 K. OK, the pressure is on - I have to do it. I know it is in me and I know it is a mental game not a physical one. Congratulations Kathy. You are an inspiration.

Leslie, it is ok. Everything is OK. I am reading your post as everyone else is and thinking I did that, or I am right with you. We are with you in your feelings of balance and struggle to always be in control. Like Kathy says; Shit happens; deal with it an then move on. next month you will be telling one of us the samething As a matter of fact 2 weekends ago I was in the same boat. I ate like crap - way too much and bad choices, I had not exercised in about two weeks- I felt terrible. Kathybad (who is really Kathy Good) motivated me to get off my butt and do something - anything. While you are at the game walk around a little, do some crunches or run up and down your basement steps. Then tomorrow post to us what you did. Guess what if you don't do anything- we will still luv ya!! By the way - Kathy is that a picture of your daughter or is that a hotter version of yourself!! Nice picture girl.

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Renewed - my prayers are with you and all of the coastline folks. My friend just moved to Fort Worth last month -yikes! Georgia- After I flounder with week 4; I stopped doing the itervals and just did my own thing. I listened to my music and set "Minute goal". I will run for 10 minutes without stopping next week 15 minutes, then 16 and so on. I still walked too. Walk 5minutes do the run then finish walking. I think the key is to do what works for you. Gain your succcesses - how you see fit. You are in control. It really is a mind game. I have no doubt that if you said, I am going to run 8 minutes straight - you could do it. It is in you head not your feet!!!! Kick it up girl! Kathy our political process is amazing and sometimes embarrassing as the rest of the world watches. It is like a giant soap opera!!!!! But, it works!

I am serious, a few weeks ago, I though, oh heck with it, this just isn't for me. But I keep pushing. Week 4 was the hadest for me. Finally, I just starting setting minute goals 6 minutes, 8 minutes, 10 minutes. It is doable. Remember, I rarely lie!!!!! Now that I know I can do 30 minutes, I am going to try to do 30 minutes 4 more times this week. You can do this, please don't give up. 1 minute at a time.

OK Kathy you got me motivated! Somebody put an APB (all points bulletin) out on my ASS, us I just ran it off!!! All time record for me: I ran on the treadmill 30.5 minutes for 2 miles. I can not believe it. I remember when I was struggling with getting 5 minutes in - that was just a few weeks ago. If you are just starting on this journey - please don't give up!!! Seriously, I am not built like a runner, but I did it, I did it -You can too, just stay with. Oh, you guys I am so proud. Kathy, it does feel good when someone kick you off the cyber sofa and says " get on the treadmill. You did that for me today. Big hugs!!!!!!! I really need a shower now. Chat later, Lynn the runner!! PS, I liked what you said a few post back about running out side and getting the runners nod! You know, (NOD) yeah, I am a runner too, you look good - I feel good - have a nice day - nod! So to all of you I (nod) to you!

Renewedhope that is so "ZEN" of you. I hope to get there some day. I tend to be obsesive complusive and need numbers to measure good and bad. That is not very ZEN-like. I too am in a learning process in reading my body. Since it has only been 8 weeks since my surgery; I am still figuring out the signals of eating too much. (This week has been a bad week for hunger) Leslie, I have to say I have not been a running maniac this week either. I also feel guilty, but come here for support. Reading the posts gives me the kick in the pants I need to Run. After I do it, I am also proud and glad. I know that I tend to be silly and sometimes inappropriate, (sorry) it is part of where I am right now. I have so many new experience and I am finding that it isn't just about lossing weight. Every aspect of my life is changing and it can be amazing and hysterical. One of my greatest discoveries was when my theighs didn't rub blisters on each other when I ran! That was a defining moment for me. Or when I realized I run on my toes and had to re-learn to run. It is little things like that and all of your stories that makes me put on those sneakers and say ok, I will run for 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes ..... Thanks everyone for keeping my butt moving.

jbrad, everyone is different, but I hit a wall on week 4 as well. I just keep pushing it at week 4. Then I just started running for set amounts of time without the interval. It seemed to work for me and I enjoy it more. I just send a week at say 15 minutes, then the next week if I feel ready up it to 18 minutes. Ususally 2-3 minute increases works. Someone else may have different advise or experiences.

kathy, I think it is appropriate to express your blue feeling here. It effects all aspects of your life. You know that it is all about balance. Physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, social. Sometimes when one part is off it sets the other parts off balance. I know I have experience those days of not moving too. And you gave me permission! Therefore, I return the permission for you to have a recharge day. I hope things look up on the work front for you. But try to enjoy what this time of your life journey can bring to you. What can you learn from it and how can you grow from it? It is great to be able to enjoy your family and your home. It won't be long and you will be back to work wishing you were home. (The bills bite!!!!!) I am thinking of you and wishing you the very best. I also love to hear about your fun family acivities. It sound like you have a fabulous husband and kids and a great social support system. Renewed - I have a new found love for 4 wheelers!!!!! My husband called me several times today and left heavy breathing voice messages for me. Really funny too My brother doesn't need any pointers; but it said he learned things about me - he would rather have not know. OMG!!!! I am still dyin"" I am going to attempt an all time running record high of 25 minutes tonight. Drum roll please! My legs are burning from running correctly (no toes). Wish me luck and endurance.

I have not been doing intervals for about 3 weeks now. I do better when I run a set amount of time without stoppping. Interval was very helpful in the beginning though. I also like listening to my own music. i try to add 2-3 minutes in length each week. Works for me. OK, I know you all think I am crazy, but I just had the most embarassing thing hapen to me! I have a new Iphone and just slide it down inside the outside pocket of my purse. Well anyway, I told you yesterday that my DH thinks I am just Hot hot hot!(whatever) Anyway, yesterday we were in the car and were talking kind of dirty (OK really dirty). Only to find out my phone was on and it went to my brothers voice mail and recorded the whole sorted details. My brother told me today. He said he didn't want to embarass me, but wanted to prevent it from happening to someone else. I can not look him in the face!!!! Public sevice announcement: Make sure your phone is not on when having a private conversation!!

I can't compare with Whosya, but I ran 1.5 miles in 20 minutes. I know that isn't great, but it was an all time record for me. I burned 250 calories in 20 minutes. I also ran the correct way. No tippy toes! Guess what, my toe doesn't hurt. Who knew!!!!! To be honest, it was the best I felt running too. Another thing; I never use to sweat. Seriously, I would never ever sweat. Of course, I realize now; I was completely dehydrated. I also never drank water. Now that I have to drink water for the lapband and I am running; I sweat like a pig!!!! (do pigs really sweat; or do they just smell like they sweat) I am sure you all could care less if I sweat or not, if I run on my toes, or if I dye my hair. But, I have a new thought for us. (there is a surprise) I think I am going to go low carb. I lost 40 pound doing this once before and I am wondering how it would work with the lapband, low carb and running. I noticed Renewed, you are doing it too. Is anyone else interested? I have been hanging at 172-174 for a couple of weeks; I want in the 160's so bad. OK, I have tortured you enough for tonight. A sense a hot bath in my near future.

I agree running outside is the best. It really makes it go by fast and it is so invigorating. (spelling) Of course the shin spints are from the angle of foot to the ground on the inclines of those hills. It is just working the muscles at a different degree. That is a good thing. Your body is saying, "What the Hell!" Kathy I love your mothers advise. I plan to take advantage of the linolium tonight!!! Once again; sorry Whosya!

I just typed this big long post and lost it! Did one of you hit my delete key????? Oh well, it is it cyberspace - some Mars lapband support group just read it. Anyway; Yeah Kathy!!! Size 4 - Luluc Hot-hot-hot!! 4 miles; your toe must be getting better. Renewedhope - which Jillian Micheal DVD's do you use? I have to run twice today - I had fast food last night (the first in 3 months- Darn it!!!) I usually eat about 800 calories a day. Yesterday was 1200!! I totally sabbotaged myself. I weighed 173 this week and am trying so hard to get into the 160's. What was I thinking!!!!!!!! I was so focused and did great all day; then after the football game; everyone had Wendy's cheeseburgers. (except my brother who is so disciplined!) I ate one BUN and all! It was painful, but I just kept right on eating. OK, moving on!! Two runs today, and my WII FIt!! Healthy food! MyDH thinks I am some kind of sex goddess - which always helps the self esteem. Between the new red hair and the weight loss - he keeps look me up and down. It makes me giggle. After 31 years of marriage - that is nice. Everyone have a great day, I will check in tonight before bed. PS. I love you guys!!!!!!!! You are the best. Thanks for your support.

OK, I feel guilty; I am exhausted tonight; also TOM. Are we cycling together now!! ( I don't mean bicycling either) My hair is in a pony, I have cream on my face, I am wearing my specially ugly comfy jammies. I am in my comfy bed with my lap top at 7:30 pm. i have no plans to move until 0600 tomorrow. "Calgon take me away." Do you ever feel like crawling into a cave and hiding from the world for just a little bit? I know I would feel better if I strapped on my shoes and hit the treadmill -why am I not moving. No sympathy require; I have nothing to whine about. Keep up the good work everyone. I will be back into the world tomorrow. I am going to read my new book "The wisdom of menopause." Come on Menopause!!!!!!

July Butterflies Master Thread
I have a 10cc band with 6.5 cc in it. This is the second day after my fill and I do have some restriction; but I can still eat more than 1 cup at a time. I did loss another pound and I feel satisfied after I eat. It has been 7 weeks since surgery and I have lost 26 pounds. Since I started at 199, I was surprised how fast it is coming off. I am exercising and getting about 60-70 gram of protien in daily. I think the protien is KEY!!! i haven't eaten anything I should have eaten. But that doesn mean I don't think about it!! My all time weakness is ice cream; I just plain can't have it in the house. It is amazing how different the levels of fill are and how different we all react to the different levels. My next fill is scheduled for 10/16. I know I will need it.
