  1. Hi Pataskla, I had Dr. Choban and know about 5 other people who had her. I am a nurse and know lots of physicians. Dr. Choban is fabulous! She is very skilled, personable, understanding, and she knows her business!!!!! What else would you like to know? I just saw her today for my first fill; she is the best.
  2. I had my fist fill today. I have 6.5 cc in my band. I came home and had some sou; I didn't feel any restriction either. Like you said, my friend said she felt the restriction a couple days after the fills. So, I am hopefull. I think6.5 in the band sound like I should have restriction. I am happy to be in this boat with so many great folks.
  3. Lynn update and more thought provoking questions: I received my first fill today under floroscope. Had to do the barrium swallow test. Being the medical professional that I am; ...... I passed out! I gives it was anxiety. It didn't hurt, I think my breathing was off. Anyway, I survived! My physician instilled plenty of saline. I now have 6.5 ccs. I weighted in at 175 (dressed!) I weighed 174 at home; whatever!! Now for the thought provoking question. Whe I went to my foot doctor regarding my toe issue (bursitis) he gave me a stretching exercise. Anyway, when I run, I land on the ball of my foot. Did you know you are suppose to land on your upper heel to mid foot; not the ball? Apparently sprinters landon the ball and distance runner should land on the heel to mid foot. HUH!!!! I had no idea. Where does your foot first strike the ground????
  4. Hello all, I have posted here lately but I read everyday. Everyone seems to be hangin there. This is what I have been up to: Lots of water Lots of protein Lots of fiber Low fat Low carb Good food choices Increased exercise I get my first fill on Tuesday; boy do I need it. I am hoping Dr. Choban feels generous and give me a BIG fill!!! I do not have any restriction at all and am hanging in there by my nails; which I would eat - but they are attached!!! I was banded July 16th have lost a total of 26 pounds. Which is great; but I have a ways to go. I have had several non scales related successes and that always keeps me going. I do not regret this decision at all. It was the best money I have ever spent. Everyone keep up the good work. Oh, by the way; I dyed my hair RED this weeks! I really think I am recreating myself.
  5. Congratulations and good luck Renewed! Once again you blaze the trail of "If you set your mind to it; you can do it" Keep setting the bar high for us. Lynn up date: My bursitis and I bought the shoe inserts today and a Wii. Can't find the Wii Fit yet. I will be running tomorow morning outside. Shooting for 20 minutes straight. I haven't run for one and half weeks (foot pain). I get my first fill on Tuesday and not a day too soon; I have no restriction and could eat the knobs off of the cupboards!!!!! I ate more tonight than I have ever eaten since my surgery 6 weeks ago.
  6. Renewedhope - yeah for you. sorry about your "flippin" port!!!!!! I went to my foot doctor!! And the winner is ....Bursitis. Doesn't that sould like something an old lady gets. It is a pressure point from running, beautiful; but non-practical shoes. The answer is a custom shoe insert. I am back to running. PS I dyed my hair RED!!!
  7. Some times I think you would be better to spend your money and chances with the lottery than to pay for insurence. It never covers what you really need. I would be carful about your DH "pre-existing" condition and whether you insurance will cover it. You can always use COBRA for coverage inbetween - but it is expensive.
  8. As a Breast Health Nurse Navigator, it is important that information is shared. Maybe the experience you posted will speak to someone reading this and remind them to get their screening. Reading the recent thread; it is important that we share our stories and support. Knowledge is power. That is why Breast Cancer is considered a "Chronic" disease now instead of a "Terminal" disease like it was 20 years ago. Sorry about the soap box; I am a walking Public Announcement! Our department recently switch to all digital imaging and in the first 6 months our call back rate increased related to the greater clarity. That is a good thing; because we are able to see even more. It is especially great for women under 40 who typically have dense breast tissue. (Us older folks have more fatty tissue) - Darn - more fat issues. Bonnie, I am so glad you found the reassurance from your imaging center. Everyone else; get your screening! Love you all too!
  9. I am 50 year old, height 5'2; started at 199.6. I was banded July 16, 2008. 6 weeks tomorrow. I weighed 175 today! I am running. and doing great. I am so thrilled that I did this; I do not regret it for a minute. I have always been active and attractive. I just eat big portions. The portion control from the band is a great tool. I know what food chioces and exercise I need. I ended up being self pay; it was worth every cent and then some.
  10. Bonnie this is my area of expertise. i am a Breast health Nurse Navigator and the manager of a women's imaging center. A screening mammogram consists of 4 geneal views of the breast. A call back occurs for several reason image distortion Dense breast tissue addition vies needed A change in your breast since your last mammogram When you go back in they will do a Diagnostic Mammogram which is a more magnified view of a specific area. It could be a change in Calcification or an area they want to look at closer. Sometimes they may want an ultrasound of the breast for a different modiality of imaging. Given your family history; they are being cautious; and that is what you want. Only 15% of all breast cancers are genetic. Most are sporadic. 80% of all call back result in normal finding. If they are still wondering about a particular area they may want a tissue biopsy (20% of call backs) Even then, 80% of all breast biopsies are benign (non cancerous lesions) I know this can make your mind go crazy places. I can give you my phone number; if you have questions. Stay off of the crazy websites.
  11. It would be very easy for all of us to "lame excuse" ourselves out of running, but that is NOT what is going on here. Sometimes our lives are like sentences and we have to have "," (comas) to help us know when to take a breath. I think alot of us are expereincing a coma in our running journey; but that doesn't mean we can't finish the sentence. (running) Anyway, you know what I mean. Renewedhope your children are breathtaking and you look happy in your picture. I wish I could experience that again. However, my children would never allow a picture like that. (my son is 30 and my daughter is 26!!!!!) But I would love to hold them both on my lap again. They are foreverour babies!!!! I still have a sore paw! I see the doctor on Thursday. Kathy, I do wear a shoe insole. I have had lot's of foot surgery over the years! (Being a nurse - I have worn out my feet) I will get through this too. Hang in there everyone. Run like the wind!!:w00t:
  12. I have a sore paw :smile2: I think I may have mentioned about a million pages ago that I have a neroma on my left foot. My run this weekend just about did me in. I have a physician's appointment on Thursday. I think I am going to "bench" myself until after my appointment. Renewedhope - how are things going? I am so glad you will have your mom with you. I will peek in this week.
  13. This is a guilt free zone!!!! You have so much going on; no one here or any where will (or ahould) tell you what you should or shouldn't be doing! You know better than anyone else what you need to do to survive this period of your life. But remember, it isn't forever, this too will pass. Hang in there; we are here and you will always be part of this group. I am proud of your strength and endurance. Thinking of you daily, Lynda
  14. You know what ladies; there was not one goal listed that was not obtainable! We can do this; everyone one of us. Maybe some day we can have a "goal reunion" and we can meet for a celebration. You all have inspired me, like no other group. Thank you for your support and I know we are all on our way to our "Ultimate self". Now who is ready to kick butt today and run like the wind? (OK, Maybe a lofty statement) But anyway, we are all now officially; IN TRAINING!!!!!!! I think we should call ourselves: "LITE" (LADIES IN TRAINING through EXERCISE) Who wants to be LITE? I do, I do.
  15. I would like to run a 1/2 marathon some time. If I keep training and adding more miles on my treadmill; I am sure I can do it. OK everyone what is your personal exercise goal? When you reach you ultimate weight and healthiness goals. What is the one thing you would like to reward yourself with?
  16. No need for EMS, just a Priest for last rights!!!! No actually, it was terrible. As you know I havea new tredmill, I usually run outside; but that can be conditional with weather variable and time of day or night. Since I love to challenge myself, I decided I would do 20 minutes on my new machine. It is preety cool, I can put my Iphone/Ipod right in it and it plays through the speakers of the machine. Loud too. I was running along; it did not look good or smell good - but I was doing it; 10 minutes past - I wasn't dead. HUH, not bad. Then all of a sudden my new treadmill geared up to 6.5 mph. I had to step on the sides to get it back to my snails pace of 4.5. OK after that little hiatus, I was chuggin' along; still not dead yet. Remember my music is up really loud, I am face away from the stairs. 17 minutes into; my DH says from behind me (apparently he was watching await) Holy S- - T! you can run! I was startled, but stared laughing; so onto the siderails I went for another 30 sec. readjust and remount! I then finished. TADAH!!! I stuck the landing..... Tomorrow is anothe day. Like some of my insane friends, I am thinking about trying it again tonight. Love to all you nuts. Lynn:wink_smile:
  17. I am home from work early. I am going to complete a 20 minute run on my new treadmill. Cross you fingers! I will let you know how it went after the EMS leave........
  18. You did it. Man, there is nothing that feels as good as achieving a tough goal. Way to go. I got my new toy today!!! Just got home from a late night at work; my new treadmill arrived! It is so pretty and has lots of buttons. I am going to read the book and take her for a spin! I had a bad food quantity day. I need to burn some calories. :cursing:
  19. I just read you bottom line. You lost 75 pounds! That is exactly my start weight and my goal. I assume you are at goal! How long did it take you. You are my idol!!!! YOu will get the breathing down just fine, because the alternative is to fall down and pass out. In which case you will start breathing again anyway. (Said like the true Nurse that I am!) If I weighed 125 and was a size 6; I would run naked and not care if I was breathing!!!!!!!!! Becasue my DH would be chasing me. I am so proud of all of you 1 year folks who are really kickin' it. I can't wait until I am the ol' pro .....
  20. This may not work for you because everyone breathes at a different rate. But when I first struggled with my breathing I started this rythemic pattern. I take a breath in When I breathe out I say out loud "two", In Say "Two" In Say "two" In say "two" When I say "two" it is almost like I am spitting it out (strong "t") Don't think about the "In" Just say two, two , two. This may be stupid, but it helped me. Now I don't think about breathing any more.
  21. Standing tall is a good description. When I eat more than I probably should have; I feel so full I have to arch my back and stretch up to get relief. Restriction to me is knowing that even though there is still a plate full of food, I feel full and I stop eating. No more clean plater awards. i have start carry a 1cup measurering cup in my purse; when I go out to eat - I put the food in my cup and eat no more regardless of my fullness. I havent had a fill yet; but could sure use one.
  22. OK, I am so excited. Today I didn't have my interval music, so I used my old IPOD (regular music) I ran over 15 mins for about 1 mile straight no stopping outside. I can't believe I did it. I am going to try to do the same or a little farther tomorrow. I also had trouble getting on this website today; it is not just you! Bonnie, I am a scales- challenge- drop- out. I can't do it, I need the positive reinforement or the knowledge that I have to try harder. I agree, no sweets, no caffine, exercise, low carb, 1 cup quantity, no alcohol, I don't smoke, I rarely lie!!!, I am faithful; come on I am nearly a saint. The only thing I have left are my bathroom scales. I tried; I did it for one week. Forgive me support group for I have sinned. I have been weighing myself daily. (It's a Catholic thing):biggrin2: Anyway; everyone is doing great. I depend on you. When I run, I think of all of you. Isn't that funny- I don't really know you; but you are my running buddies. Thanks friends.
  23. Kathy, I am sorry for this difficult time. I pray the Lord blesses you with peace and unity at this intense transition. We are here.
  24. I clean out my closet and drawers today. Got rid of sizes I never intend to wear again. It felt like a cleansing moment. I am all organized for my new little clothes to come. I looked at some treadmills at Sears. They are so big and clunky. I was hoping for something a little more streamline but sturdy. I will check out Walmart. Thanks
  25. Since I have been home from vacation; I have not run once! Darn it. It is too hot after work, I get up at 5:00 now to go to work. I think I am going to buy a treadmill. Any suggestions on types? PS. I weighed myself after one week I lost another pount (178.0) I really needed the reassurence that I was on track even without the run this week. I think I will get my run in both Sat and Sun. I know we are suppose to rest in between, but I think I have read that some of you have done it several days straight without a porblem. Is that right? Bonnie 25 miinutes (I am so proud of you) You are my mentor!
