Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Helloooooooo! I have missed all of you. I have not run at all this week; doctor's orders! Turf Toe!!!! It is still buggin' me, but the rest did help a lot. Work is going good; I have two more job opportunities; thanks you all told me about the doors of opportunity and things happening for a reason. Then out of the blue, my husband called and said he was making an offer on a house we have drooled over for two years. I am so excited. We built our home and love it; but we both agreed we would move for this new one. It was a bankrupcy - bank own; so it is a great price. No one has ever lived it; the builder fininshed it and never moved in. I also took your advise and uped my claorie intake; OK, you were all right again!!! I started lossing some. I need a fill too Kathy - Mine is scheduled for Nov 13. I am taking my mom, daughter and granddaughter to New York for the weekend. It is my granddaughter's 10th birthday -she and I have been planning this since she was 5years old. I not suppose to run until Tuesday; but I am tempted to run outside in the morning - it is so pretty out. I already know what you are going to say - so I won't run. I will take my little doggie a walk! :smile2: Glad to hear everyone is well and healing. Thinking of all of you. Lynn

This is so funny. I was talking with my mom yesterday and I said, "my firend just had 360 body lift". My mom said "oh that sounds great, which one of your friend is it?" I said, well, I don't really know her name, but I talk with her every day and I know so much about her life and her family. As a matter of fact my other friend Kathy is going to be starting a new job, I have really been praying for her." My mom thought the whole thing was so funny. She said have you every talked with these people or seen them. I said, No, but I care about them. We decided in our new society, the definition of a friend has changed, but the feelings are the same. I think of each one of you everyday. We have the common events of Lap band and running; but more than that it is the support. I am watching the wind whip the yellow and crimson leaves through the air as the sun shines brightly; and feel so alive today. Maybe it is the act of clearing out DH's parents belongs and knowing how precious life is and important it is to recognized those people who have impacted ones life. Thanks you all for running support. more importantly thank you for sharing your lives with with me. Still intraspecting!!!! Lynn

Prayer for a painless speedy recovery for Renewedhope - Happy 1 year!!!!!! I am suppose to run in the pumpkin run in the morning- it is raining cats and dogs here and suppose to be cold. Would you do it anyway? Just wondering what you would do? Why does the band feel tighter somedays than others. I really think I could use about a .5cc fill most days and other days I think it is fine. It has been 3 months since surgery and I have 7cc in my 10cc band. Why do some people require less than others? Dies it have to do with your weight??? Why is it I can run 4 miles without stopping somedays and other days I can barely get two in? I just got out of a hot tub bath and am in my comfy pj's watching it rain with my doggies. I think I will have a glass of wine and contenplate the questions listed above. I am in a very introspective mood tonight (and it is only 6:00 pm) This weekend we are clearing out my inlaws house of all their worldly possessions. My father in law died about 6 years ago and my mother in law died this summer. It is really kind of sad, isn't it. I guess that is why I am kind of instrospecting about the mysteries of the world. Off to ponder!! Lynn:mellow:

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Here is a little update on my life and running adventures. I did NOT get the job I interview for. I am not that disappointed about not getting the position - I am pretty competitive -I like to WIN!. I am really ok about it. Kathy, I said a prayer weeks ago that if only one of us could get our job I asked that it would be you. It seemed like a win-win. Prayers are answered every day. I ran only 2 mile this morning. I am still struggling with my turf toe!!!!!! I could have went more, but I am suppose to run a 5k Saturday. I just heard on the new that it is suppose to rain and be very cold on Saturday. I am not taking it too serious; I will do it regardless of the weather. I may just bundle up and walk it. It depends. It is kind of fun to not be stressed out about it.

Kathy, I am so happy for you! Sounds like a great job. I should hear something this week on my potentually new job. I am in a win win situation. I have a great job now; but would love the new one as well. Everyone is right my granddaughter is a smart cookie. However, she is also at a stage where she thinks passing gas is so funny. (she will be 10 in Dec) You know it is that gross stage! Wouldn't it be great to be able to enjoy our bodily functions and embrace our being with such joy. She thinks everything about her body is silly. Maybe we all take our selves a little too seriously. The next time you run and your body hurts - just marval at our pain receptors. The next time you are drench in sweat; encourage a family member to take a whiff!! And finally, the next time you think you can't run more minute; just laugh and run it anyway. Have you ever watched a child run? They run over curbs, jump up on a log, twirl around, do a hop scotch, throws in a cart wheel, and runs fast again. Run like achild and laugh at your gas!!

OK, here is the official report from my first 1/2 maraTHON. i DRANK ABOUT A GALLON OF WATER Saturday with good dietary intake (depsite the fact that we had a Football party at my house and I made homemade bread- chili- punkin pie ect) No, I didn t eat any of it _ did just what I was told. I went to bed early then woke up every hour to pee. I was so excited you would have thought it was Christmas Eve. Anyway, I got up at 4:30, jumped into my predetermined clothing. Ate Cherreios and bannana and had a protein drink. It was 32 degrees! I drove the 45 miles and parked my car. At 6:30 I approached several official and explained that I am suppose to be number 5970 for the 1/2 marathon, but I don't have my bib number. They all informed me that without my bib number _ I would not be allow on the course - no matter what. So back in the car I went and drove home. I am disappointed but not defeated. I plan to run my own 1/2 marathon on my own today. My granddaughter Skyler age 9 spent the night with me last night. She has been a competitive swimmer since she was 3. When I got home and crawled back in bed, she said " Nan, you are home too early" I told her I got "DQ'ed", she snuggled up to me and said, no big deal Nan - I have gotten DQ before; it happens. There is always another event" Now, how could I be sad after that!! Every one spend some special time for yourself today. - I have a date with a treadmill.

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Holy crap! I am about ready to cry!!! I just checked online for last minute details about the race. Apparently I was suppose to pick up my race packet yesterday or today. There is NO same day pick up. I didn't know. I called my trainer and she said yes I was suppose to do it. She said I should still go and try to run. It says online that NO unregistered people will be able to run. I am registered, but I won't have a number. I have all my stuff ready to go. What would you do? Should I go or just forget it. I feel pretty confident I am not going to be able to run at this point. I am so pissed off!! I was ready. Help.

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
OK you all know I have gearing up for this SATURDAY run! It is Sunday. One more day to motivate (I guess) My trainer kept telling us, "don't forget no running on Saturday before the race" I said No kidding, Did you think we are going to run before the race. Everyone kind of looked at me funny. It wasn't until later that day when I looked at the paper work did I realize the race is Sunday instead of Saturday. I called the train and explained - she laughted and said wouldn't it be funny if you showed up on Saturday all ready to run and you were the only one there!!!!! So keep your thoughts coming! The race starts at 0730 eastern standard time. Send me your legs!!!! You guys I am so motivated; I can't believe how excited I am to run. I feel like a horse in the gate. I am loading up on the water today. I want each and everyone of you to get off of your butts and get on those treadmills. You know you SHOULD do it, you CAN do it and you WILL do it. Do excuses - DO IT!!!!!!!:tongue_smilie:

Renewedhope - sending prayers for your little man and for you as well - it is so frightening when our little people are sick MRSA is nothing to mess around with. lots of handwashing for the family. Kathy - did you hear from your job yet? I haven't gotten word yet - they are suppose to decide this week - lots of prayers please. I have shin splints from my Sunday run! darn it. It is my fault I wore a different pair of shoes. My trainer said no running today. I will run Thursday then the 1/2 marahon is Saturday - Remeber I will probably only run 4-6 miles total and walk the rest. I would love to be able to run the whole thing in April. We will see. Everything seems quiet around here. Come on everyone get off your butt - run and give us an update. When I was running on Sunday- I had a strange thought (nothing new HUH?) I remember when I really struggled with my breathing. Remember: Two Two Two Two Two. I don't even think about it any more. I would have never believed that. I also don't notice my heart pounding out of my chest either. My last major achievement was the last part of my return home is a giant hil with an incline of about 30%. It is 250 steps up _ I count- I can zip up there pretty good now. I am amazed at what I can do now that I couldn't do three months ago. I have a question for everyone: What would you like to accomplish within the next three months? with your exercise? Your body? Your life? I expect a full report within 24 hours.......I will be checking in tomorrow evening.

Here are some thoughts and opinions - take them or leave them: Sundaes, chips, biscuits, no exercise. You need to get your matabolism jump started. Biking isn't too bad on the knees or swimming. Before you throw in the towel. Remember, the band is just a tool; you have to get your body moving to burn calories more effieciently. Fish, chicken, vegtables, and fruit more protein less carbs NO sweets. It sounds like you still need some band adjustment too. One thing I have noticed the more I exercise - the tighter my band feels. No bread products either- carbs make you hungier. I know that you didn't ask for a critque of your efforts; but sometimes an outside view can help. OK, NO excuses Monday morning - eat healthy; move your pretty body, call your doctor for an adjustment, think positive. This isn't easy for anyone (especially, some days are a disaster) there is always tomorrow to get it right. I know you can do it; good luck, we've got your back!

Hi everyone. Nothing new to post, just wanted to touch base. DH and I went to the Ohio State Football game one of my favorite Saturday dates! Had a great day. I am going to try to run 4 miles outside in the morning. Our grandson's birthday is tomorrow. Pizza, cake and ice cream!!! I amgoing to try to resist both. I am at 169 today and am trying so hard to get to low 160s by Nov. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Renewedhope, I was just telling my DH what happened to me today - it sounds similar to what you just described. As i mentioned in anearlier post - I ran 3.5 miles this am for lunch I had some toasted bread - i really have never had problems with it before. I did however, have a band adjustment last week. I ate about 3 bites _ I expereinced my first SLIME and vomitting episode. It lasted about 45 minutes. I am wondering if the long run made my band tighter or if the adjustment 7 days ago just caught up to me. Lessons learned: The doctor was right NO BREAD ever Running is good Eat small bites Adjustments work Why do I alway shave to do things the hard way.

I had my first expereince Slime "ing" and vomitting!! I have been able to eat just about anything up until now. I ran 3.5 miles this am and had a protein drink for breakfast. I did have an adjustment last week - I tried to eat some toasted bread at lunch!! Holy crap! that was not fun and will not do it again. Lessons learned! I was told to not eat bread - but I had to try it. (typical me) The slime thing was rough too. The whole ordeal lasted about 45 minutes. Don't go there if you can avoid it. NO MORE BREAD for me.

To everyone reading this: I am proud to call us ..... RUNNERS. We did it. A group of overweight, out of sharp "girls". We encouraged each other through the rough times, and celebrated the accomplishments. Like Renewedhoped says; now we are running 5K, 1/2 marathons and Tri's. If you a new to this thread and wonder if you can do it - there is no doubt you can do it. Our motto is: one foot in front of the other!!! Hey didn't we use to have a group name? It was an acromym! We will have to read back through the thousands of posts to find it; unless one of you remember it. I have a big job today - I am going to try to run 70 minutes. (walk breaks) I have my 1/2 marathon in 2 weeks!!!!!! I better get my butt in gear!!:tongue2:
