  1. My first fill is Sept 2nd. I really need it. I lost another pund when I weighed in this morning. Evening eating habits are hardest for me. I am used to coming home from work and stuffing everything I can find into my mouth before my DH gets home. Then we would eat dinner!! No wonder I got in the shape I was in! Can't do it now; but I have to admit it is still my hardest time of the day. I think I will try drinking a Protein drink on the way home from work (About 45 minute drive) to ward off the mind hunger! Are you ready for your first fill?
  2. I saw my surgeon on Wednesday. She was very pleased with my progress and my healing. I asked her about the amount and type of food I should be eating now and told her I was experiencing hunger. She told me 1 cup per meal, soft regular food is fine: if I am not nauseated or vomiting and as tolerated. She cleared me for any type of exercise. As far as hunger; make sure I keep my solid foods and liquids seperate and get about 70 grams of Protein a day with 800-1000 calories a day. She expects to be pretty aggressive with the first fill under floroscope. I am all for agressive fills. I asked her about stretch my pouch. She said the band will hurt you before you can hurt it. You will be very uncomforatable when you over eat and you will learn your limits. It is a learning process and learning the "full" sensation before you are Thanksgiving stuffed is key. I have been carrying a measuring cup in my purse, to give me a visual look for a cup of food at work, eating out and eating at home. It really has helped.
  3. Leslie, my trainer told me that plateaus are good when you are lossing weight and building muscle. She said it is your body's way of making a new SET POINT. Just keep eating right and exercising it will coming soon. It is frustrating as heck isn't it.
  4. I am so proud to know you, even if it is online. You were in their little lives when you were suppose to be with them. You gave so much of yourselves to them. You are right, you have to be able to do something like that as a couple. Your husband sounds like a good man, and his ability to share his deep down feelings with you is a testiment of your love and commitment to each other. We will always support you and encourage you in any aspect of your life. What you are going through will take a toll on every inch of your being; remember to take of you. You are in my prayers, Lynn
  5. Hey run buddies, I am home. I figured out why the emotion low>>> surprise (shhh girls only..I started my period) It explains alot. I am home from vacation and ready to kick week 4 day 2 to the gutter!! Tomorrow after work, I am going straight to the gym. I am hanging in there without my scales; but what if...... OK OK, I can do it until Thursday at my offical post op appointment. I am so glad to know that by my November 5K run, I will be thinner and physically prepared to run it. OK, Off to bed.
  6. I was told no more than a cup at a time. I was banded July 16th. No fill until Sept 2nd. I physically could eat more, but I am concerned about stretch my little pouch! I am hanging on by my nails until my fill!!!!!
  7. Banded July 16th: Apples are the only thing I found that I can not eat. It felt stuck and took a long time to go through. I chewed it up very very well, but still had trouble. Now I have to say, I can eat apple sauce OK. Maybe I didn't get it chewed up as well as I thought. I have not eaten really any other fruit except bananas. I wasn't sure about the acidity of some fruit at this stage of the game. Of course, I have not attempted any meat except salmon, chicken. I see my doctor next Thursday.
  8. Orea, You update picture is so nice. You are the kind of person that draws people to you. I am so happy for you. You are on your way girl!!!!! Your determination to follow the rules is inspiring; In my life I tend to push the rules as far as I can. I am learning with this process - you just can't do that. Obviously, the rules are there to benefit us and to make sure we stay on track. I hope I can learn some patience - I always want things NOW!!!! This is a learning process for me as well as a losing process. Thanks for live an example for me and other inpatience folks. If I lived in the "100 Acre Woods" with Winnie the Pooh and gang - I would be Tigger!!!!!!!! Bounce - Bounce -Bounce
  9. First of all ...Great job mamato3! You are doing fantastic. I am so inspired by you 20 minute runners.. I want to be there so bad. Today is our (DH and me) last day of vacation in Florida; I am so sad .. I don't want to leave. It is raining too today, which is a reflection of my mood. I have had two weeks of "escape" from my regular life. Don't get me wrong; I am so Blessed in my life. maybe it is my "midlife crisis" I turned 50 in June, but honestly; I could just stay here and start a new phase of my life. As you know I have only be banded 3 weeks. Did any of you expereience strange mood swings or emotional changes? The exercise helps me have a "positive" change. I think it is about control and MAKING changes. I really feel like a spoiled brat ... I don't want to go home and somehow it is my DH fault! (Projecting blame; I guess) Well, I am going to pull myself together, when it stops raining; I will go for a long agressive walk/run!!!! PS. Do you think it could be that for the past 2 weeks all I have had to do is concentrate on myself; diet, exercise, scales, look good - feel better, lay in the sun, swim in the pool, sleep until I wake up, go to bed when I am tire - no clocks, no employees bitching, no family issues, no work deadlines, nothing is expected of me, no one is counting on me? I know this thread is about excerise, but you are my daily support group - Sorry to get heavy and vent. I am really not a psycho; it just seems that way today! Packing my tears and heading for Ohio, Lynn PSS I didn't weigh myself again day - it's killin' me!
  10. Thanks. That makes sense
  11. NSV: What does this mean.
  12. Leslie - I am so sorry your shoe fairy was on break today. Isn't it frustrating when you go to the effort to getting to the gym and then it doesn't pan out. You will kick it tomorrow>. Take some extra shoe strings.
  13. 1. I did week 4 day one by mistake (I was suppose to be on week 3) about half way through it I thought "boy this seems harder today", I started thinking as i was about to call 911! shoot I am suppose to be on week 3!!! The amazing thing is, I was doing fine until I realized that I was on the wrong week - then I finished it by staying at 3.7 mph and a 5% incline. I guess that is ok, but isn't it funny that our body can do more if our mind would shut up. 2. I did NOT weigh myself today! You are all very influencial people. I miss it, but it is always good to challenge our weaknesses. 3. You may not remember this, but about 4-6 weeks ago, I had a problem with my inner theighs rubbing together when I run. Guess whose legs don't touch any more. Now that is success - right there. Renewedhope and Bonnie - 20 minutes really! Holy cow; I want to do that sooooo much. :biggrin2:Lynn
  14. Kathy - Outstanding!!!! You are on a roll keep it going. Bonnie - I am so sorry about your ipod; I know it can be replaced, but it is the thought of being violated. Your Ipod was your running buddy. I am glad your got the MP3 player working. Shoes - I wear Brooks running shoes. I have had surgery on both of my feet and 4 toes; so shoe wear is critical to me. I currently have a nerona on my left foot - but it never seems to bother me when I run. This is my second pair of Brooks - I love them. You are such challenge friends!!! Thanks, Lynn:wink_smile:
  15. I have to admit, I haven't really been doing anything on Tuesday and Thursday - my nonrunning days. But I should. Typically a upper body exercise would be good. Also, I think a pilates or swimming exercise would be good too. I just haven't found my complete groove yet. It is coming. Baby steps. Bonnie and Renewedhope - I changed my avatar so you can see my new thinner face. I took the picture myself so it looks goofy - which captures the true me - goofy! I hit the magical 179 on the rictor scale today! New numbers, new numbers - Go Lynn, Go Lynn!!!!! I have not been able to let go of the scales --How are my scale -free friends doing?
  16. Just checking in. I am doing great. I was banded 3 weeks and 1 day ago. I am at 179 today YEAH! I am exercising (doing podrunner Couch to 5K) 3 days a week. I get between 50 - 60 grams of protein in a day. I use www.mydailyplate.com to track my food intake and exercise. I keep my intake between 800-1000 calories a day. Although, I find the 1000 is too much. I don't have much of any restriction right now; unfortunately my first fill isn't until Sept 2!! I am just following the plan and going to bed early when I get hungry in the evening. I can eat big bites, (even though, I try not to) and more than a cup of food at a time. I do get hungry. Thank God for Adkins advantage low carb protein drinks. Is this common? I am a slow loser (age, lower BMI, and destroyed matabolism) Is it possible to damage the band by eating too much? Of course 800-1000 calories is not too much, but I am curious. Why do they say no alcohol for 6 months - is that becasue of the calories? I had some Marlot red wine last night - no problems. I counted the calories too. I know this is long and with random thoughts - sorry! Need protein!
  17. Seriously, I do not know if I could do this without my music. It is critical!! Way to go. Week 2 was a diffent step forward. let keep each other going to week 6 we can do it.:w00t:
  18. Darla, you sell your self short (no pun intended) you are doing great. You look beautiful and are moving right along. You are my inspiration. Before you know it we will be Lap band post children!!!!! Good job friend.
  19. You are am inspiration whoseya. If I ran at 7.5 I would look like a cartoon carature with wheels for legs! Or I would blow off the back of the treadmill. I would love to run at that speed. Actually that is my goal. But it is diffenetially a goal, not a realality right now. You are the wind beneath our wings. Keep us going!:w00t:
  20. :thumbup:Gerogia girl, you are right. We are on the same week and day. I did the last run, then walk then expected another run; but it ended. OK by me! Bonnie, I walk/run at a 0.5% to 1% incline. I walk at 3.5 and run at 4.3 I have never been a sweater; but for some reason - this makes me sweat every where- I think my fingernails sweat! My resting heart rate is around 48- 56 My highest heart rate is 156-160 But it averages about 134. I wear a pulse monitor that has my "zones" preset. I use to workout with a personal trainer and she set the watch for me. I am supoose to stay in zone 2 and 3 for a good work out. This interval training is spot on for me!! I usually burn about 300 calories per work out. After my interval part, I keep walking until I reach a total of 3 miles. The whole thing takes about 50 minutes. I am nervous about the 20 minute run - which week is that? It means so much to know you are all running, sweating, panting, and smiling alone side of me. I can actually hear you cheering me on. Renewedhope, you are doing a great job of inspiring and motivating. You are a great role model.
  21. I was banded exactly 3 weeks ago today. I feel outstanding, but my scales are stuck at 181. I am exercising, eating better, great attitude, and trying to maintain some portion control(this is my biggest challenge) I have not re-measured myself, but I know I am losing inches - I feel it. You are right; it is a time for healing and we are in it for the long haul. We are so use to instant gratification; but good things come to those who wait:sneaky: I am soooo looking forward to new numbers. Every moring I think today will be 179 but alas, still 181. OK, I will "keep on truckin" (a product of the 70's).
  22. I am offically banded 3 weeks today! I WALKED to the gym, then instead of doing day 2 of week two - I did week 3!!!!!!! Holy cow! All I could think about was being able to post that I did it. I told myself if I didn't complete the whole thing - I wouldn't be able to share mynew with you (I wanted you all to be proud of me) I had my headphones on and apparently after I finished the last run set - I made a loud "PHEW WEEEE" sound. Everyone in the little gym laughed! Then I walked home with a happy heart. PS I found the answer to the shin splints. Ben Gay!!!
  23. The unknow is such a scary thing. Your mind starts going all kinds of places. I am soooo sorry you experienced this ordeal and am glad you are better . Good luck tomorrow, go slow.
  24. I do feel better reading that there are others who do not have the restriction they desire. I can eat way more than a cup of food at a time. I can eat anything without a problem. I am keeping myself between 800-1000 calories. My first fill isn't until Sept. 2nd. YIKES too. We all seen to be traveling this journey together. I appreciate the company.
  25. I haven't posted in awhile, so here is my update. I am still on vacation in Florida. All of the kids and grandkids left Sunday. My husband flew down last night. He hasnt seen me for 10 day and there is diffently a difference in my appearance. (Lap Band was 3 weeks ago) I have lost about 20 total and lots of inches. I have bones!!!! So I met him at the airport with a beautiful tan and thinner me! When I saw the expression on his face when he saw me; it was worth absolutely every bit of this process. We had an exciting reunion. (I know I have a new way of thing, because during what I would call our "sex-capades"; I thought: I wonder how many calories I am burning. - That is wrong and funny! OK, so on to my exciting exercising new. I spoke to my doctor by phone and she cleared me to run! So, yesterday morning I tried it out. I started with week 2 day 1. But I did it on the treadmill; I ususally run outside. I think it is harder on a treadmill. The time goes faster outside. Anyway, I did it. Running is easier 20 pounds lighter, but harder on a treadmill and 3 weeks pot op. I think it takes awhile to get that energy level back up after anesthesia. I feel great this morning; no pain in my legs or belly. I did have three glasses of wine last night and regret the calories. But other than that - it was a perfect day. My scales seem stuck on 181. I want to be in the 170's by the end of the week. (I know - stop drinking wine) I think I will hit the ecliptical (spelling) today and run week two day two tomorrow. I still have some problems with shin splints when I first start runnin - it ususally works its way out - any suggestions?
