  1. Just had fill number two today. I now have 7.5 cc in my 10 cc band. I did not loss 1 pound in 4 weeks. I was very disappointed since I lost about 30 pound since July. Oh well, it is a marathon not a sprint!!!!!! I was not feeling any restriction and could eat roofing tile and not get stuck!!! I do notic a difference today. So far about 1/2 cup of Soup and I am full. I hope it stays that way for a while. next fill is scheduled for second week in Nov. At least we are in the same boat. I guess some people have to have 4-5 fills before it hits just right. I can do this. I am exercising and being a good girl. (for the most part) Hang tight Butterflys.
  2. Darn it, I wrote this great post and lost it. It was so insightful and amusing!!!!! I will never be able to repeat it. Too bad for all of you - I really enjoyed it. Anyway, Great Job Georgia! Doesn't it make you smile when that 21 minute rolled over. Yes Kathy waiting is the hardest part of the interviewing process. I really felt good about it, and every now and then I start thinking, "Oh I should have said,,,,,," I went to cross train at the gym today. I did the ever painful eliptical, the rolling steps, and the bike. 20 minutes each. I burned 400 calories. I also had a fill today 1.0 cc that makes a total of 7.5 cc in my band. I can really tell the difference too. I went 4 weeks without lossing 1 pound - that bites!!!!!! Anyway I am on clear liquids today and tomorrow. I just calulated my caloric intake for the day including the 400 I burned - I am way too low. Liquids 1/2 cup at a time is tough to get much in. (I never thought I would say that) I have a busy weekend planned. Friday Work 1/2 day; 3rd interview, I have to meet my daughter and two nieces after the interview - (they are 25-32 years old) I am their disingnated driver!!!!! I am driving them from Columbus to Cleveland for a NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK REUNION CONCERT!! Shot me now! Drunk women reliving their youth singing "Please don;t go girl!!! " I booked a hotel in Cleveland - I am NOT driving them home tomorrow night. Saturday I am suposse to do a 70 minute walk/run inpreparation for my upcoming marathon (what did I get myself into) Sunday going to see Robin Williams LIVE - I really did have a great inspirational post - it is now in cyberspace and a woman from Mar is reading it and connecting on a deeper level. Luv ya, Lynn:teeth_smile:
  3. First things first: Mammato - What you need is a nap! Don't be so hard on yourself - you are going through a major adjustment physically emotionally, and mentally. Situational depression is common when our lives suddenly take a sharp turn. As a nurse and as someone who has experience situational depression- the antidepression helped. It help me refocus to be able to put one foot in front of the other. If you have concerns, ask for a second opinion. You do not have to run right now. But you might be surpraised one day when you say to yourself - I think I will run for 5 minutes. It could be to the mailbox and back. It is ok to mourn the changes in your life as long as you can begin to find hope. Thanks to everyone for the prayers - i really felt them. I think the interviews went well. I have one more on Friday. I am excited about the challenges and like you Kathy - I know I can do the job. The people were very welcoming too. Renewedhope - you better hang on tight to all three of those men!!! Cuties all three! Off to bed early- Run club in the AM. I have a date with an eliptical machine!! I will overcome the beast!
  4. kathy is officially in her interview; send her strong thoughts....
  5. Luluc - yeah for school! I am a gluton of punishment too. I recieved my master's degree in nursing and thought it was so worth it. My thought: If it takes a person 5 years(or whaever) to graduate you have two choices. You can go to school and be a lawyer in 5 years, or you can not go to school and just be 5 years older!! Kathy the outfit sounds like you all over good luck. I have two running related things to share today: 1. My 1 hour interval training at run club today was excellent. I did my hard interval at 6.4 mph Record speed for me! 2. My run club buddies encouraged me to join them Oct 19th for the Columbus 1/2 marathon. I am going to do it. I will run what I can and walk the rest. There are all kinds of runners skill levels in the group. i told them to not wait for me. They said they would be at the finish line when I get there. I told them to bring flashlights cause it will probably be late! I am really going to do this. Can you believe it. 2 months ago I could hardly run 5 minutes straight. I am not built like a runner, so this is more than I expected. it just goes to show you, a person can do anything if they put there mind to it. Run Hard this week. Say a prayer for me - my 1st interview is at 4:00 pm Eastern standard time. the 2nd one is at 5:00 pm. Then the 3rd panel interview is on Friday at 1:00. I will be wearing Smoked gray suit tommorow and and Key lime green jacket on Friday. With my red hair, it should leave an impression. cheers all, Lynn
  6. I am interviewing for a position in our health system; Director of Outreach. It is the director of all the community programs and clinics that provide for the underserved and uninsured population. I have been reserching and studying too. For what are you interviewing?
  7. Has anyone heard from Bonnie? I miss her.
  8. I am a confessed gadget ho" myself. You should see what I use to just run! i have My Iphone which houses my music on my upper arm (so cool) I have my Pulse watch on which has a strap that goes around my mid drift. Of course I would be caught dead withour my ear phones the cool one not the buds! I have my insoles in my special running shoes. I swear to God you would think I was on a mission to run to California. Fortunately, I do not take myself serious and enjoy laughing at me. My pulse thingy tracks my distance, heart rate, ZONES, calories burned, amount of time. And lot of other stuff. it is also nice because it stores it so you can see weekly comparisons. Kathy, are you ready for the interview Wednesday!! I am excited for mine. Good luck Saturday 5k runners. I have run club in the AM. I think I told you last time I increased my speed -very proud of that. (PS I did not die as I predicted I would) I have still not last only more weight :cool2:- My ajustment is scheduled for Thursday. I did try to increase my calories, then I paniced and went back to 800-1000.
  9. Tootie you can't run on a fence. The only thing that happens on a fence is You get poked in the butt! Get up and run girl run!!!!!!!! 1 minute at a time, one foot in front of the other
  10. Where is the cap and gown!! Kathy I am so very proud of you. You did it. Remember the struggles to get here.. you perservered and did it. It is all you!!!! That is what I love about running. It is all about you. No one have power or control over your run excpt you. It is a person challenge that is in your control. Major way to go!!! I have been lurking around trying to catch you on all the postings. Great stuff. I didn't get to do my 70 minute outside ru with my run club on Saturday. My grandchildren spent the night Friday night and didn't get picked up until later. I didn't want to leave them alone with my husband.. he is the 6th child!!") No big deal, it was a choice and I lved my time with the kiddies! But, I am ready to kick butt again this week. I am proud of my efforts last week. Work out playlist: Delialah Clumsy Big girls don't cry gimme three steps It aint over til its over Dont cha You aint seen nothin yet It's my life Blue DaDa Dee Rich girl Black horse cherry tree Hips dont lie All right now Barracuda One noght in bangkok eye of the tiger luv Lynn
  11. We have lots of mud dobbers nest around the house. I get them every year. I love taking them apart - you should see what they put in there. Lots of bug carcuses. By the way size 10 pants and skirsts, size 12/14 top. I have big girls. I do carry my weight well. I am very muscluar -which helps. I just ate pizza - what is wrong with me! I try so hard and then sabotage myself I get my new fill next wekk I hope it helps. But so much is in my head. I will run extra hard in the morning - but darn it makes me mad.
  12. Went to my run club this AM. Thursday is cross trainning day. However we start out on the treadmill for 20 minutes, but we icreased our speed and incline. Holy Moly!!! I usually run at about 4.2 which is like walking for some people. Today I ran at 5.5 for 2 minutes. Then the eliptical. Not a fan!!! I think I am too short, it is an uncomfortable stretch for my arms and my stride. Anyway did 20 minute minutes. The last 15 was better than the first 5 minutes. I am nervous about Saturday. We will be outside in the near by park running (walk if need) for 70 minutes. It is about 6.5 miles. I just dont want to be the worst person on the team. Is that terrrible, I want some one to be worse than me! Thanks for the info on the fill. _ I really need it. Went shopping with my DD tonight. I fit snuggly into a sixe 10 jeans. I had to buy then. I wanted to leave the size 10 tags on then.,
  13. Thanks for all the advise and support it helps
  14. Leslie - what a nice compliment. Georgia - 20 minute run is just days away. My hips are crying and I have to go back to work out in the AM. I am hoping the my hips hurt because they are shrinking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called my doctor to request to have my fill date moved up. I have not lost one pound or one inch since my last fill Sept. 2. I have 6.5 cc in my band, but no real restriction. My new appointment is next thursday.
  15. Tuesdays are for treadmill work, thursday -steps or eliptical, then outside on Saturdays. I do not have anything that fits - my daughter is a fashion designer; I will hit her up for a fashion tip or two.
  16. OK full report!! I popped my happy hiney out of ed at 0445 am. Brushed my teeth, put on my sweats and was in the car by 0500. OOPS out of gas! Went to the gas station; drank my EAS protein drink in the car. Arrived at the gym at 0550. There are 7 people in the new run club. One training for a marathon, 2 for a half marathon and a couple who can only run about 2 minutes at a time. And me, some where in the middle. I saw my old trainer; she couldn't believe how great I looked! (believe me; I didn't - no make up, hair in a squnchy) She said you have never looked more fit. I told her it was everything she thought me about diet and exercise - Anyway - we got weighted, measured, did sit up and push up endurance test. then we had to run and or walk as long and fast as we could for 30 minutes. Please remember, I am nursing a kidney infection!! But I ran the whole time 30 minute - never stopped for 2.5 miles!!! All of you kept running through my mind. My old trainer was spying on me. When I finished, she said: no way!! You did great, form endurence, breathing - excellent. What we do here on this thread is what got me to this point. Several people in the group asked if i would consider the 1/2 marathon in May 09. She said some people do a walkrun and others run the whole thing. I think I might do it. After my work out, I hit Starbucks for my venti no-fat sweetn low latte!! My special good girl treat. Kathy, I have an interview on Oct 1st at 4:00 too. I am excited for both of us. good luck. Are you buying a new outfit???
  17. Special K, I think you are right about weighing out the food. I just know I am eating more than I should be eating. i have been soooooo hungry. I will also go back to the basics and watch the protein count too. Thanks. i am doing great on the exercise part but the eating is a struggle.
  18. Believe me I am not that dedicated. I do better in the AM then evening; but this is going to test my mettle!!!
  19. My second fill isn't until Oct 16th. I have no restriction and am eating about 4 cups of food at a time. I know, I shouldn't: but I can, therefore, I do!!!! I have 6.5 cc in my band now. I haven't lost anything for 4 weeks. I am still eating less than 1200 calories per day and exercising. Do you think Dr Choban would fill me early??
  20. Big news: I joined the run club at my gym!!!!!! It meets Tues, Thur, Sat. for 12 weeks with the finale as the Reindeer Run 5K in Dec. The ickie part is: my gym is in Columbus - where I work. I live in Newark about 35 miles away. The work outs are at 0600 AM. That means I will have to get up at4:45 drive to the gym, work out, shower and dress at the gym and then go to work. I do get off work around 400 pm. I know, you probably wonder why I do go to a gym in my town. Last year i was working long hours as we were doing a huge project at work.. I actually had an apartment in Columbus and stay there during the week. I joined the gym there and developed lots of friendships and had my trainer there. Now that I do't have my apartment and drive everyday. Sometimes I still go there after work. Sorry, I am processing this thought, externally. It will be great, but it is a early morning comitment.
  21. I survived the day! Ran, biked, grocery store, disassmbled and cleaned out the refigerator. I achieved my goals for the day. Everyone have a great week.
  22. What do you think...... On June 8, 2008 - I turned 50! I got a tatoo on my toe in June I got my lapband in July I started training to run a 5K in August I dyed my Hair red in September Yesterday, I got my belly button pierced Does this sound like a midlife crisis?
  23. I can't tell you how many times I have felt frustrated with either the weight loss or the exercise and reading this thread remotivates me to stay the course. I know God put us in each others lives for a reason. Seriously, don't stop posting - good, bad or indifferent; we need to inspire and support each other. The new members, the old members, and the lurking members all add meaning to our group. Sometime we just need to read, and other times we need to write. It all serves a purpose. I have been hovering at 172 pounds for about 4 weeks now- the scales aren't moving. It gets frustrating, but I know I need to ramp up the exercise. So today, I am going to attempt a 35 min run. Then my DH and I are heading out for a 15 mile bike ride. I will keep my intake to 800! If I don't see a dwnward sweep on the scales; I am going to start removing organs!!!!!!! Once again - a big congratulations Georgiagirl and Renewedhope. You have both worked so hard; enjoy your rewards. Off to run. Kathy, I mixed the rocky song in to (hopefully) to play at the 35 minute mark of my run today. I will be breathless, sweaty, and smiling!!!
  24. Congratulations to the most motivated butt kickin group of people on this website!!
