CPAP users, lend me your ear!
I've had to lower the pressure setting a little bit I'm not giving up this baby unless my body tells me it doesn't want it!

3 1/2 years old - new health challenges ... ugh.
The thing I've found with hypos as a diabetic is they happen if I have a long gap between eating. So I would recommend splitting your calories into 3 meals with 3 snacks spaced evenly. Try eating some cheese and/or nuts for your snack (something with a bit of protein), and a smaller meal to balance the calorie load. Eg Breakfast 7.30am, snack 10.30am, lunch 1pm, snack 3.30pm, dinner 6pm, snack 8.30pm. You should still carry some fast absorbing sugar (eg glucose tablets) just in case. And do healthy carbs for your meal eg veggies and beans, mixed with your protein of course.

Could you be not eating enough? Like when the body goes into starvation mode and the metabolism essentially slows to a crawl?

I'm hoping that losing slowly means my skin will have more chance to adjust. I'd also love to know if slow losers get to goal too.

What to do when dumping?
In the Diabetic world we call them hypos. The difference is usually a timing thing. If you're dumping pretty soon after eating, try and lie down and take it easy for a little bit. If it's more than an hour after eating, your blood sugar may have dropped too low (due to increased insulin response to the sugar you ate earlier). In those cases, I do a spoonful of honey or juice or if I'm out and about I've even done proper (not diet) Coke. You need a bit more sugar in your blood but not too much or you'll start the cycle all over again.

I binged
Oh I feel ya, I did the same thing with Doritos the other day. BUT you can get back in the saddle. Each new day is a chance to do better. So now you know why slider food is called slider food. Back to protein first, leafy greens, plenty of water and no snacking. You got this.

We need to start a slow losers club. [emoji13] Imma start upping my water intake because @Matt_Z says we should. And I'm also going to try being strict about three meals and no snacking. I would say I'm going to start exercising but that's too big a hurdle for me yet (I hate anything that involves me getting changed into lycra)

Thank goodness someone else is slow out of the gate. I was starting to wonder whether I'm a statistical outlier. I'm eating way less calories, meeting my protein goals, and yet each lb lost is ever so hard to reach. [emoji24]

I'm with you - they're a food version of crack. Noone can stop at one hit.

So cross at myself
Mental spanking for sure! Plus I hate feeling disappointed in myself. I much prefer swanning around feeling all virtuous because I'm sticking to the plan. Note to self: STICK TO THE PLAN

So cross at myself
I'll just back away quietly from that one :-P This is so true. I'm quickly discovering that whilst a portion of chicken breast might fill me up very quickly so that I remember "oh yes, hello stomach the size of a small peach", crap slider food is still the devil. My bypass isn't going to stop me putting it in my mouth, only I can do that!
-
So cross at myself
Where to start? I'm 5 and 1/2 weeks out from my bypass revision and God help me, I ate half a bag of doritos last night. Not one of those single serve ones, a big one. I don't normally have them in the house but I've a house guest over so of course I bought some snacks as an excuse. What was even worse was, no dumping, no runs. It was like my body was before surgery. I'm so cross at myself. I've been on a stall and struggling to keep my calories at around 1000-1200 a day, which given I'd eat more like 2000+ before surgery is a huge change, but eating Doritos was a really really really sucky decision on my part. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

Sleeve or Bypass... help!
Honestly, I do wonder if I've actually had a bypass coz life has got back to normal really quickly for me. I'm eating smaller portions but other than that the surgeon could have taken all my insides out and replaced them with straw stuffing and I wouldn't know!

30 second elevator interview
Oh man, that sounds like my cup of tea. In another life, I'd love to put books, magazines, newspapers together! When I was in student groups many moons ago, I was always the one putting newsletters and brochures together!

Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability
He might feel like it's a parent wanting their kid's pass code. I know if he has yours that's fair enough, but noone wants to feel like they're being watched to make sure they don't trip up.

1st purée meal
I'm Aussie so my chilli recipe will be heretical but that's ok. Get this, I put a carrot, a zuchinni, a capsicum in the blender and chop it up. That goes in the chili after browning the onions. I use mince/ground beef, and the spices I use are cumin, Paprika, cayenne pepper, chilli, cinnamon, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and seasoning salt. Oh and definitely a can of chopped tomatoes, mushrooms, and two cans of kidney beans.

Pre-Op Diet Emotions
It's a BIG DEAL for our minds, bodies and spirits to process this journey. I went up and down particularly immediately before and after the actual surgery but I keep telling myself on a bad day that statistically-speaking, tomorrow is likely to be better (my daughter hates it when I say that). Be kind to yourself if you're having A Moment. Try and find something pleasurable to do (read a book, take a bath, stare at the birdies out the window). With hardship comes ease.
