  1. It is!! I had to rewatch it myself to make sure. Gotta love those '80s music videos!
  2. Then there's always
  3. I love Sara Bareilles Brave too (anything by her really)
  4. My favourite song when I'm feeling depressed about my weight is:
  5. Well give us help with genres - Britpop? Classical? Ska?
  6. So turns out there is a veggie option [emoji818]️ let's just hope it's not full of starchy carbs and fat.
  7. One of the voices of sanity! Ahh well, real life has to take precedence. Good luck, mate.
  8. Thanks guys, Imma ring today and find out what the options are. If there isn't doable, I'll sneak a protein bar and some nuts in my bag and work with coffee.
  9. I've been invited to a restaurant (actually, dinner theatre which I think is some sort of dinner we eat whilst light entertainment is performed) and it's my first time eating out post-op. Bit nervous. I figure salad or fish should be on the menu at the very least (can't eat meat coz it's not halal). Please don't let it be a set menu!!
  10. When I was growing up in Australia scallops fried in batter were A Thing at the fish and chip shop. I remember having them as a kid along with potato cakes and the 'fish' was usually shark (we're a weird mob) mmmmmm... Obvs that's a no-no now.
  11. Bahaha I'm in Europe, we like socialists this side of the pond hahahah
  12. Oh yikes, I had no idea. I've never taken it because my mother had heard it can cause some health problems in young females and she banned me from it and then when I grew up I never got in the habit to take it. I just always remember hearing ppl on the telly say things like "take two aspirin and call me in the morning" [emoji16]
  13. Lads! Who knew scallops would give you so much bang for your buck? I had them for din dins tonight with some steamed Brussels sprouts and a tbsp of Nandos light marinade and zomg they were so good. Soft but very filling!
  14. This is getting rather philosophical.
  15. I know. I'm not good at it either. But I figure it's got to be better to try believing the universe is benevolent and giving me what I need at every moment* than t'other way around. * I am completely dependent on everything other than me - even my body won't work without squidillions of bacteria in my gut doing whatever it is that bacteria in my gut do. It's a bloomin' miracle I'm here: Just one ancestor who got eaten by a sabre-tooth tiger instead of mating and no ummyasmin. In the face of that, what other appropriate response is there but gratitude?
  16. I follow a teacher who says that reality reflects back our own nature to us. If we look out at the world with predatory, judgemental eyes, then that is what gets reflected back to us. If we look out with curious, compassionate eyes, that is what gets reflected back. I know which I prefer [emoji7]
  17. I was not able to upload pix at all yesterday. I wonder if there's a bugaboo.
  18. Years ago when I did Pritikin (anyone remember that?) you couldn't have coffee or tea so I developed a taste for boiling water (like you would for coffee or tea) and putting a slice of lemon in it. Pretty good way to get your water in!
  19. Mine said "any multivitamin will do" when I asked what he recommended. So I don't even need to take special bariatric vitamins, except I do coz I want to make sure. I take a once-a-day capsule (UK brand), plus Celebrate calcium plus OTC iron (Galfur), plus biotin and chromium. Can't remember why I'm taking the chromium, I'll probably stop once the bottle runs out.
  20. All up since before lapband... Goodbye gold brick and rack of baby back ribs. Can I have the gold brick please.!
  21. Noone can diagnose anyone else but if its not standard issue post-surgery dumping then it can be a precursor to diabetes. It's essentially disregulation of the insulin response. The thing with the time (years?) leading up to type 2 diabetes is that the insulin "key" to unlock the cells to store the sugar stops working as effectively (doesn't fit the "lock") so the body pumps out more and more insulin (leading to hyperinsulinemia) to try and cope. With so much insulin in the blood stream you later get a blood sugar drop that causes hypoglycemia. It may not be diabetes, please God, but following the basic diabetes diet principles (which are very similar to most peeps' WLS guidelines) can only help.
  22. It's so good to hear the vets who were slow losers but got to goal [emoji106]
  23. I'm in awe of you! So there is hope for us yet!!
  24. I hesitate to give you definitive advice a) because following your surgeon and nutritionist is the best thing to do and I'm a bypass not a sleeve. I eat max. 1000 a day but I've cut out carbs except for non - starchy veggies and beans. So no bread, crackers, pasta, rice, potatoes etc. Plenty of water and firm protein first.
