  1. Umm...great motivator to NEVER overeat again!!! EW!
  2. KristeyK replied to a post in a topic in The Lounge
We bought a house with both and I can tell you- hot tub all the way.
  3. I'm another excited/nervous May14th here. WOOT!!! Just a few more days y'all!!!
  4. I had to do it when I first got pregnant too. It really isn't bad at all.
  5. OK, I have to tell y'all the real reason for even wanting to try vegemite. It was all from the danged Men at Work song. I had been wanting to try it since I was 13 or so when that song came out. EEEK! (BTW...please tell me that Foster's really isn't Austrailian for beer as they claim it is here in the States!!!)
  6. Another American here. Grits are actually quite delicious, but if you ever get here and try them make SURE they are not instant. (Kind of like the difference between canned pumpkin and fresh pumpkin.) Now, I was raised eating grits and even I cannot clue you in as to what "pork" grits are. Yes, canned whipped cream. There is ONE decent brand you can buy, the rest of them are NASTY. And I hate to tell y'all, but yeah, Vegemite is, uh, different. (I have put my Aussie friend on notice that if he EVER brings it back for me again, I will NEVER speak to him again. lol)
  7. I can't tell you about the lap band, but my sister has this and she was able to get a tummy tuck done about a year ago. She was just on some kind of meds to keep her blood from clotting, and they had her up and moving around a LOT right after surgery. Hope this helps!!!
  8. Oh I really do hope you're being sarcastic. Actually, the flamingoes crack me up, but I also look at it from the standpoint that I want to put my house on the market before too long and my neighbor's yard looking like garbage also drags down the value of my own home. (Although I have noticed the fake plant people haven't had them out, so maybe my HOA is worth something afterall.)

I would just like to thank you for written proof that I am NOT the only one who does that. YAY!!! I plan on showing it to my DH when he gets home.
  10. Good Lord, how did you not slap those people? lol. (OK, not really lol.) It's hard enough doing that at home, I couldn't imagine people at work doing that around me!!! Just keep up the good work. ONE WEEK TO GO!!! It'll fly by fast.
  11. Take it from someone who has six or seven neighbors who do the fake plants thing.... DON'T DO IT!!!! Unless you're willing to spend a LOT of money on things that look like they belong there and change it up seasonally, or when the weather beats them up they're going to look BAD in a few weeks. One thing I can suggest to you is this: I have seen kits at Lowe's that are drip systems for potted plants. Heck, you can even buy a regular system that will work off of your hose bib and you can put the individual emitters into the pots, turn on the water and leave them be. That's what I did when I was an apt. dweller living in downtown Phoenix. (Trust me, if I can get petunias and tomatoes to live through a summer in Phoenix, it'll work where you're at too.)
  12. Count me as another one who says for you to get the Neti Pot. They are little miracles!!! I had a sinus infection for a MONTH this winter, a BAD one, and after using it three times I was pretty much cleared up. Now that it's allergy season I use it once a day and I haven't really had any problems with my allergies for the first time in YEARS.
  13. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I haven't been banded yet, but I remember being winded and having the phlegmy sore throat after I had my gall bladder removed. Good luck and I hope you can sleep in your bed soon.
  14. My Dr. says to take a children's chewable that says "plus iron" on it. The lady who teaches the pre-op class recommends the Equate ones at Walmart. They have enough enough vitamins and minerals in them for us AND they're economical. (She also mentioned another brand, I think it's One Source, but I do remember it said Super Kids on the bottle.) We're told to chew two per day in the morning.
  15. Congrats on having it done already!!! (My date isn't for another week.) How are you feeling? Oh yeah, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!
  16. I just got this in an email from a Yahoo group I belong to for WLS support. May Lap-Band Support Group Meeting It is being held at Woods Library, 3455 N. 1st. Ave, between Prince and Ft. Lowell on Saturday, May 10th at 10 am. We will be in the small meeting room - adjacent to the children's area.
  17. Always remember that muscle really does weigh more than fat!!! I'd rather be a muscular 200 than a fat 200...kwim? In any case, doing moderate weight lifting will NOT bulk you up. Also, weight bearing exercises are a MUST as we get older, especially for women since we're so prone to bone loss and that'll help it.
  18. For me, it's the fact that my own mother has had the RNY done TWICE, and even the second time she didn't lose all the weight she's needed to and even though it's been over three years, sh still has a good 100lbs to go, which she never will get there. It made me realize that either way, this surgery is a TOOL to use toward a new life. I can do it with the band which in my mind is safer and slower, or I can change my anatomy- either way it's going to take discipline and a change in my mindset for a new life. Hope this helps and good luck on your journey!!!
  19. Now THAT takes a lot of discipline!!! Going to a party and not even eating cake. YOU GO!!!!
  20. The main difference is that new reply has all the little smilies and quick reply doesn't.
  21. Oh I am seething with jealousy that you get to go sit on the beach!!! When I lived in New Orleans I used to go visit a friend stationed there in Biloxi all the time and we'd walk about 50 yards from shore and park our butts in the 2' deep Water and drink our beers in peace. Those were the days! lol. Nine pounds already is FABULOUS!!! Way to go girl!!! Just remember, this time next year you can feel GOOD wearing a bathing suit on the beach.
  22. I'm not getting banded until next week myself, but I have to say that I HEARTILY agree with the advice of get used to not drinking while eating. I started this last week and it's HARD to remember.
  23. And you WILL be fit and fabulous!!! I've kind of made it my little goal to look good in a bathing suit for my 40th birthday in two years. I'm going to reward myself and go somewhere nice like Kauai or somewhere in the Carribbean where a bathing suit is TOTALLY necessary.
  24. Do we share the same family??? lol. Sorry they're being pains there. (And thanks for the reminder that I need to put mine all on notice.) How are you feeling now? YAY on the 4lbs gone already!!!
  25. YAY for ALL of you going in tomorrow!!!! Congrats on your new life!
