  1. I’m controlling mine too. Still on the Metformin but hope to be able to give it up. Keep up the good work.
  2. Amazing transformation. How has life changed for you?
  3. Right on! Keep us posted ?
  4. Does anyone know if these crackers can be purchased in Canada at the grocery store?
  5. I think this is fabulous. Wishing you all the best and please your cheerleaders posted ??
  6. Mega love and all the very best ?
  7. Will be following you. I had to google what this procedure was ?? Ah, my apron which I hate!!!! Just got sleeved and would love to have this done. When you get a tummy tuck does this get rid of the Apron too?
  8. Hi, we are very close. My surgery (sleeve) date was Aug 23 2018. Will be 4 weeks this coming Thursday. I am reading other posts and am thinking I need to join a support group and engage in counselling. I hope I can find these supports I need here in Calgary. No one does the sleeve surgery here so I had to go to Toronto.
  9. So glad to have read this thread. So grateful for your candid heartfelt posting Birdie. My take away from this is yes, I’ve had the surgery (Aug 23 2018) and I’m hearing that I need counselling and a support group. I will see what is available here in Calgary.
  10. I hear you about the exhaustion. First day back to work, lasted 3 hrs and then headed home for a 2 hr nap. My surgery was Aug 23.
  11. Thanks. So like the pain I have about 10 in down on the right hand side of my chest. Often I get this gurgling too. Very loud!
  12. Dumb question BUT can someone explain what a “restriction” is.
  13. I’m guessing your bruising is just in the tummy area? If it is anywhere else I would head to the doctors soon. Good luck
  14. I wouldn’t push for this. Having all your meds by IV is so important. This is major surgery remember that. You could have complications and need to be monitored. Just my thoughts ?
  15. I really think people need to get educated before judging. When most of us decide this route we research very carefully and I would venture to say it’s mostly about health. When faced with diabetice, knees, hip pain, risk of heart disease along with a host of other diseases this is often our only choice. You CAN do this and you are on your way. Go girl!!!!
  16. I am 3 weeks postop. It’s very difficult! I hope you are crushing your meds - very necessary. Don’t be swallowing whole pills at this point. The med for acid reflux should be a capsule that you can open up. I put the crushed meds on a little yogurt to get it down. You can always call the emergency line for your surgeon or talk to your pharmacist. You are getting rid of the gas from surgery. - will take a while. Take care!!!
  17. So sorry. Be kind to yourself. Make the best food decisions you can understanding that your only human and are going to slip up. You’ll get stronger but you have lots of love and prayers to get through this sometimes one second at a time.
  18. I’m so glad you posted!! I am 59 yrs old too. Do you think we should form the “old farts club”? Tee Hee. For me, and perhaps you, having the surgery is mostly medical. I made the decision because my ips and knees hurt and I have been exhausted for so long. I have my own business which I love but between work, aged parents I was coming home exhausted and would hit the couch and just bring on the food until bed. I also have a Type 2 diabetis. When I looked at me future And weighed out the options 1) accept being overweight and all the health concerns; limited mobility, not being able to play with my grandkids (when I get them), increased risk for heart disease and Type 1 diabetes OR take charge and have this amazing tool to help me, lose the weight and really live and have so many more options open to me I knew this was my only choice and the best decision for me. It’s a more difficult recovery when we’re older but it will be worth it. I was sleeved Aug 23 and am so looking forward to the adventures around the corner. Sending you big gigantic hugs!! ??? Lynn
  19. I’d like to know too. I was sleeved the week before you and after I drink I have this gurgling that takes over.
  20. Won’t it be lovely when this is all sorted and over! Can the new centre answer your questions as they might have been through this before?
  21. How exciting. My goal is to lose 70 lbs. I’m 3 weeks post op today, you’ve given me inspiration.
  22. Book it girl!! Just follow your recovery instructions from the doctor so you are in the best shape you can be. The trip will give you something to look forward to.
