  1. You are rocking that outfit. It's all about the after party ........Love that you are letting go of the past.
  2. It affects my hunger level if I drink and eat at the same time. I feel more satisfied on a small meal if I wait 30 mins after I eat.
  3. Congratulations on two years out. Many of us have a weight gain after goal. The choice is to lose the weight or to be comfortable at a higher weight. There is no judgment of what you choose to do. This is your life and your choice. If you choose to lose It's not so much motivation. Reality - This is work to maintain /lose a weight gain. It's not fun to give up the calories and carbs. The weight loss is slower. Know that this gain is manageable if you want to take it off. It can be done. Motivation or Perspective: This is hard but a person with cancer would gladly trade places with us for our weight loss struggles, Right? Wishing you the best, Jenn
  4. Indeed I am a father again and it FREAKS me out. Just kidding, it has been hard having a newborn again but it’s cool. I think some of my weight gain might have been stress related. At any rate, I am down 5 pounds and sticking to a plan. I have cut out diet soda as my psychiatrist told me that apartame is really bad for you. It’s highly addictive and it causes mood issues. I noticed it makes my anxiety worse and my depression worse. Life's stresses. What ya gonna do.* Laughing* Congratulations on the new baby and finding what works to get the scale moving.
  5. I don't believe that people choose an eating disorder as a way of maintaining. In defense of people that are athletic. Not sure why you would think that going to the gym means you miss out on things. The gym is also a ballance. Most schedule events and skip days.
  6. We all have our own goals with weight loss and how we work to maintain. Wow, Pretty judgmental about health and exercise nuts *laughing*
  7. Emotions are also understandable. This is sometimes a point where people feel a bit of buyers remorse and emotions. Give things time. Once you are able to get real food in and see your weightloss progress your emotions will be more positive. Take care of yourself. Great things to come!
  8. Hi Philip, Congratulations on your surgery and 19 pounds down! I'm excited for all the positive things coming your way. I bet you can't wait for your next food progression. take care of yourself. I hope you bounce back from surgery quickly. Jenn
  9. Nine days out you are still healing from surgery. It's understandable that you are tired. It's going to take time to feel your new sensation of full. Things get easier as you progress to real food. Hang in there. I hope your recovery is short. Welcome to surgery weight loss phase!
  10. How much can you eat in one sitting? Are you eating a full pizza sized meal with no restriction?
  11. Sorry to hear that you are experiencing this. You are only 2 weeks out. Give yourself time to heal. Things are going to change over time. Welcome to the surgery losers bench.
  12. Hope you are recovering well. Congratulations on your surgery. I had it for three days. Annoying yes but I have experience worse things in life. It will be removed and a thing of the past for you. Great things coming your way.
  13. How far out from surgery are you? How much food can you eat in one meal?
  14. I want to hear tips from people that maintain effortlessly. I thought maintaining would be easier. The transition from weight loss into maintenance was interesting. It was hard to let go of weight loss phase after living that way for so long. Just took time to adjust. How have you ordered your life to make the entire process easier - for loss and maintenance phases? Four years out. Living healthy comes naturally. Grocery shopping and cooking is a breeze. Gym is my stress relief. Instead of weight loss goals I have fitness goals. I live life and indulge once in a while. When I gain, I go back to basics. I have chased the same ten pounds up and down the scale. (with the exception of my third year) Are you still struggling to find balance? I am settling into the fact my weight bounces around. I know how easy it is for me to gain. I experienced being stuck at a sixteen pound gain in my third year. Basics stopped working ( I have no idea why) Fourth year basics are now working well. I dropped back into my maintaining zone. Prefer complexity to simplicity? I prefer to do both I take breaks. I don't log and I workout less. Right now my goals are distance running driven. To stay healthy I log food and train.
  15. Your right...we all are different in this process. I never wanted to be normal or a statistic. We all have the same goal..Healthy.
  16. Everyone looks great! Are you guy's used to the change or does it still take time for your mind to wrap itself around?
  17. Energy and exercise: You will feel more energy as your calories increase. A full hour of a workout can be broken up into 30 mins twice a day. I know one woman who walked 30 mins twice a day. I'm not sure if I want to add to the advice on complex carbs but here is my two cents. It would depend on how intense your workouts are and if you are carb sensitive. The hair loss phase is no fun. I used toppik to fill in the thin spots.
  18. You are around a month out. 500/600 calories is about right. You are still healing and finding how to feel your new sensation of full. In the first months it's a struggle to get your protein and water goal in. Your best weight loss is in the first three months. Take advantage of it. As you progress your surgery restriction will be less and your food intake/calories will increase. your weight loss will slow down. Stalls happen. Keep working your program the scale will move. I want you to be prepared - For the majority of sleevers, A year or more out surgery restriction will be noticeably less. This is normal for sleeve surgery. Your sleeve has not stretched. This is why it's so important to change behaviors and eat healthy long term. The work does not end after goal. You said "I am trying to establish lifelong eating habits without having foods that are completely removed from my diet" not sure what that means. All your food choices are yours to make. The only one that has to be happy with your results is you. Wishing you the best, Jenn
  19. The salad sounds lovely. Going grocery shopping today!
  20. I don't peel the apple. I do peel the pumpkin. I like the added whole cranberries. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Roast until very soft, and a bit golden brown about 35 to 45 minutes.
  21. Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! You have all of our support. Even from people that don't have the same surgery time frame.
  22. The majority of us still feel hunger at times. Real food stage : 4 oz of protein and veggies at each meal. I eat as much veggies as I want. I eat four to six small meals a day. I keep them within my calorie and macro goals. hope you find what works for you.
  23. Most primary Dr's are supportive. You can always shop for a primary Dr that is pro bariatrics. A pre surgery supervised diet may be required by your insurance company or surgeons office. Call them to find out. My experience: My Dr was supportive. There is a process and hoops to jump through. It was all worth it. I had a six month weight loss requirement from my insurance company and a psych evaluation. The psych eval was straight forward not difficult to get through. Seems like an eternity waiting. But honestly, I look back and all of this has been in a timely manner.
  24. Love this time of year. Pumpkin pie protein shake: vanilla protein powder canned pumpkin puree Pumpkin pie spice Fall side dish I make for thanksgiving. Cube a small sugar pumpkin and an apple drizzle with a bit of olive oil and sugar free maple syrup. sprinkle of cinnamon Roast in the oven on a cookie sheet place in a bowl. Add whole cranberries if you like Tip: Stay active over the fall and winter. Don't let the colder weather set you back. Summer bodies are built in the winter. If you don't have a gym membership. Walk a mall and window shop. Find workout videos to do at home. Buy a used bike or treadmill off craigslist or a new one if you can afford it.
