  1. My disclaimer for anyone pre op or new to bariatric eating. Stay on your plan and learn how to eat and fuel your body. Yes, Dieticians plans work. I have great recipes with riced cauliflower. (I have a stuffing recipe just in time for thanksgiving) Many reasons for dieticians instructions not working (no judgment for anyone struggling with theses issues) Complications, medical issues, medications, wrong type of surgery, hormones, pregnancy, Grazing -eating above macros and calories. Dietitians may change to a new eating plan due to the reasons above. Some choose an eating plan on their own.
  2. If cost is a factor on the bagged rice or mashed cauliflower for you. You can make your own.
  3. Dietician instruction are just as different for maintaining as they are for weight loss phase. Glad you have a consult to dial your diet. My instructions. I was encourage to add low glycemic carbohydrates to slow/stop weight loss to maintain. Whole grains, Whole wheat pasta/breads, brown rice, sweet potato. ( nothing white or processed)(I don't tolerate brown rice well. I feel bloated and lethargic). She gave me a carb range to stay within. https://www.health.harvard.edu/healthbeat/a-good-guide-to-good-carbs-the-glycemic-index I have always spaced out my meals to four to six smaller meals a day. My restriction with the sleeve was noticeably less after a year. Maintaining in year four, I eat protein fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains, beans, dairy and low glycemic carbs. I still stay away from sugar and processed stuff. I indulge once in a while. My maintaining diet changes to three programs. I am female 5'5" and 130 pounds. Maintenance :1300 to 1600+ calories give or take. When I gain I am back to basics: 1000 to 1200 calories. I am carb sensitive I gain in a heartbeat. The weight comes off slowly. It's knowing your body physiology. Distance running: my calories and carb ratios increase to a range that I'm surprised I can get in. I got to goal doing elliptical and a bit of weight lifting. My goal was a 5K in memory of my mother. Checked that off my bucket list my first year. Each year I have increase distance. I used a sports medicine dietitian to learn how to fuel my body for long runs with a sleeved stomach. I'm curious to see what your maintaining plan looks like. If you don't mind, please post back and share it.
  4. This is going to be different than all your other diet attempts in the past. It's possible to take your new eating and workouts to places you never thought you could. Shoot for the stars! Looking forward to see how you feel at onderland. It will be here before you know it. 150 why not? I still pinch myself and cant believe what I weigh and how much my life has changed. Great things are coming your way. Your mind will be able to wrap itself around all this with time. Enjoy the WLS ride. .
  5. I still work on night snacking years out. My late night snacking is old behavior, head hunger and cravings. I buy a veggie tray and allow myself as much of it as I want until full. If I try to bargain with myself for another option then I know its head hunger. You situation may be more than breaking habit. If this is a medical issue, I agree with getting medical advice.
  6. Congrats on all your weight loss. When did you figure out where you wanted to end up after all your hard work? All my hard work led me to my goal and beyond. My number was picked out of the air. I was fortunate to meet it. How did you narrow down where you wanted to end up?I struggled to picture what that would feel or look like to be a lower weight. Weight loss outcomes are an unknown factor. I used these three things to help me visualize possible outcomes. weight loss simulator. It's not real accurate but helped https://modelmydiet.com/ Mybodygallery https://www.mybodygallery.com/ and a BMI chart

I applaud you for addressing your medical issues and moving on to a more qualified medical professional. While you are waiting for the process of seeing a new Dr. Search around the boards for others that have had or are experiencing the same struggles. I wish you the best in taking charge and moving forward.

  9. I had the same plan here in the US that you have in Aus. First year low carb. After goal add more healthy carbs. The mantra protein first is right after surgery. This is because you can hardly get calories in to hit your protein goal. And this term gets way too much hype. You are still eating other foods and carbs. Not sure what a no carb plan is. Is it a 100% protein diet?
  10. Bariatric therapist is a great idea. I hope you will work through all this and overcome the struggle. Have you thought about marriage counselling to address what going on in the relationship?
  11. I pulled it out of the air. For me, It's not so much a number or size. It's getting off medications, reversing type 2 diabetes, being active, finding adventures, playing with the kids. Learning and continuing to live a healthy for years down the road. I like the idea of focusing on small goals and reward yourself when you hit them. Your goal number does not need to be decided on right away. Congrats on 117 pounds down. fantastic!
  12. Amen. Ya, Try harder with surgical complications ..Ugh The judgment placed on people's struggles in BP is less than helpful. Not everyone experiences a smooth process with WLS.
  13. People gain for many reasons. The answer is not as simple as go back to basics. It's not as simple as add carbs. Some gain due to complications, need a revision, hormonal changes, medical issues, medication side effects, diet etc. None of this is a one diet fits all. none of us here are medical professionals,
  14. I also eat a different diet. Carb Loading with distance running. No one is jealous of my diet why would they be of yours? The difference is I feel no need to preach my diet or disrespect other people or their diet plan. Is it jealousy or calling you out on your behavior? Let the viewers decide.
  15. Feel free to ignore my posts as well, I'm posting not for you but for all the others that read this board. You are my top example by your reputation as an attention seeker. Why you feel the need troll here for years is unknown. Anyone feel free to look up @Creekimp13 thread activity https://www.bariatricpal.com/profile/330039-creekimp13/?tab=activity For the years of her peorsonal attacks..Ugh its exuasting. If it was an honest talk about a diet plan without bashing and negativity. I would have more respect for you and this thread.
  16. Your priority is your health and mental well being. Absolutely change physicians. You are grieving and know wine and food are an issue when dealing with stress/emotions. Treating the mental health side of surgery is just as important as the surgery itself. Glad you are making your calls. Wishing you the best.
  17. Many plans are represented and appreciated. We are adults. Do your research of all plans and Value your medical professionals advice. Make your own educated decisions. Be your own amazing!
  18. I'm good with my family physician. Can you shop for another that you feel more comfortable with?
  19. I have no problem illustrating a different path. All opinions are valued. Diets and plans are not a one size fits all. No need preach negativity and judgment just because you don't like the other plans represented. You want people to be respectful of your carb plan. You might want to also be respectful of other people's plans in return. Who cares if we don't take the same route or make the same choices? We are adults (or at least I like to think) Make your own educated decisions. Be your own amazing!
  20. I'm four years out. My office provides check ups every three months for the first year, Yearly checkups for five years, Honestly, After my first year, I get my checkups and blood work done by my family physician.
  21. It's fantastic that you are enthusiastic about your new way of eating. Glad carbs work for you. You also need to understand that your plan may not work for other people's body physiology. I'm sure you don't appreciate when people to judge your plan. There is no need for you to judge other people's plan. Just sayin'. Not sure what extreme dieting, Extreme thinking and extreme self denial.?? Not sure what that is in reference to. What you view as extreme may not be extreme to others. We all have are own path. All opinions are welcome. My plan is also different. I just feel no need to preach it.
  22. Amazing story! thanks for your post. Keep inspiring others.
