  1. HI I am one month post op tomorrow. When I started this process and I read how some people lost weight so slowly I was sure that would not be me since I dedicate myself 100% to things. Also I lost 60 pounds in just about 4 months... of course I gained it all back thats why I had the surgery. Anyways so now I am post op 1 month and only lost 10 pounds since the surgery and 10 pounds on my pre op diet. The 10 I lost after the surgery was the first 2 weeks.. the last 2 weeks I have lost NOTHING!!!! I blog what I eat and I exercise every day for 30 mins to 1 hour. Now before I had the band if I did this I would loose at least 4 pounds a week.. and now nothing?? At first I said well I am not loosing because I am gaining muscle but come on how long can your body stay at the same weight with such low calorie intake and so much exercising? I am getting my 70 grams of protein and low carbs everything sugar free I am doing all I am supposed to do and I am getting discouraged!!! So if you started out like me with a BMI around 40 please let me know where you were at 1 month post op. Thanks
  2. yes very normal I was starving when I woke up from surgery.. Some ppl it takes a lil longer to start feeling hungry but you will feel like that until you have a fill from what I understand.. I cant wait for a fill!!!
  3. no Im didnt exercise before the surgery for 6 months because I was dealing with trying to get approved through the ins. I havnt measured to see if I am loosing inches. I know Im getting smaller because my clothes are more loose..I dont understand If Im burning more calories than I am consuming even if I am gaining muscle I think I should be loosing something.
  4. I dont know but I am upset about it.. I have not lost any weight in 10 days Im not even 4 weeks post op and have only lost 10 pounds the other 10 was before surgery. I write down all my calories.. max I have 600 a day and I exercise between 30mins to 1 hour a day... So I cant explain it but I know i dont like it or understand how thats possible
  5. I was given a medical device card in my packet for surgery. They said I need to keep it in my wallet. Thats odd they didnt give you one. It came in the lapband packet I received. All of the ppl I know who has flown since the surgery has not had any problems have fun in disney world!!!
  6. thats odd he gave you vicodin I know usually they want to prescribe something that you dont have to eat with... I would call the dr let him know and ask for Mepragan Fortis.. This is what I was given its a special pain med with anti naseau meds in it. Hope you feel better soon.
  7. mines numb also I dont know why but from what I have read its normal :w00t: Also Im still swollen in the port area
  8. :w00t: I will share some info with you that someone shared with me a few weeks ago that saved me. Buy the walgreens brand maylox. It works!!! I had relief within the first 20 mins from taking it and hadnt had a problem since I found this life saver. Try it.
  9. Ugh I am having this problem but I have only been having it for 1 week now so I am not trying to get stressed yet. I am 3 weeks out and the first 2 weeks I lost 10 pounds this last week I have lost nothing. I have started to exercise and since I started to exercise I have not lost so I am hoping its because I am gaining muscle. Maybe I should up my calorie intake since its only between 400 and 600. hmm dont know we will see. But dont get discourged just try different things :w00t:
  10. I was just going to post a question about not loosing... Im only 3 weeks out and have not lost anything in 1 week. I count everything my calorie intake stays below 500 and I get all my protein  But I started exercising 1 week ago also so Im guessing im building muscle. AT some point I think the scale has to move lol I mean how long can my body go on so little without letting go of the pounds? I dont know lol
  11. thanks... well they didnt take my gal bladder out either they said its fine.. My family was upset about that because mom had to have emergency surgery to get hers out she almost died and 1 week after my surgery my brother who is 26 only 1 yr older than me had emergency surgery to have his out. So they thought I should just have mine out now. But all is good right now  You will love the band we all wake up and think what did I do ... but trust me once your healed you will love love it
  12. yeah!!!!!!!!! I dont really know what you mean by social worker? Is this you psyc. Apt? Well whatever it is I know its a step in the right direction  I had to do the 6 month diet before I could submit to my ins. And it was the hardest 6 months of my life. My dad passed away suddenly at only 44 and They found cervical cancer when I went for a pap. But I made it and I was approved and got the surgery. Its the best thing just to see the scale move in the right direction. Dont worry about your husband they are always worried at first for many reasons. But he will come around he has to
  13. I was told to drink as much as I wanted and I did  Just dont gulp the water down. Drink as much as u can but take lil breaks you dont want to throw up or hurt ur band
  14. well for a while you will be on protein drinks you will be on a liquid diet for 2 weeks after the surgery and I know the drinks are expensive but its a must. I like the atkins protein drinks. Make sure no sugar or carbs in the protein. OK when you start on foods the mushies your allowed fish. I buy the box of individually wrapped tilapia they r 4 oz each. I season with blackening and cook in non stick skillet. Yum 20 grams of protein each with 100 cals and only 2.5 fat :cool2: just be creative you will get it
  15. i was banded on july 16th and i eat 4oz at a time.. this is on my post op mushie diet.. we r allowed fish so i eat the 4 oz tilapia grilled its 100 cal 2.5 fat and 20 grams of protein. I am really starting to get hungry but i am having a fill aug 28th :cool2: dont worry just try diff things thats more feeling and no bread
  16. :cool2: you sound just like me!!! I had my pre op class and everyone in the class was in patient except me. I was so upset I tried to change it to in patient and they said I would have to change my surgery date so I declined. One good thing about out patient means that your healthy thats why I was scheduled as outpatient. You will go in they will get you ready let your family sit with you until they give you the silly meds and off you go. If you live in town then you can go home as soon as you wake up but if you live out of town dont go home until the next day. If your nervous about throwing up let the anesthesiologist know and he will put special meds in ur IV also I was given special pain meds called mepragan fortis it has anti nasuea meds in it and its great  Dont worry I worried for nothing and like my doc told me if anything happens they will bring you to the hospital for an over night stay
  17. Mine was submitted on a friday and I was approved on monday evening.. you have to call the ins if you want to know quick.. they didnt call me and I got the letter like 2 weeks later. I have bcbs of MN I called on tues and then I called my dr let them know and then they got it from the ins. if not I would have been waiting alot longer  Stay on topp of it.
  18. hmm lets not fight ppl lol... Im 3 weeks post op and I am not on liquids anymore. Now I am allowed soft foods  Yum I eat alot of fish tilapia. Well anyways I just wanted to say.. yes we all should follow our dr. I am one who tries to follow 100% I am very scared to pb or throw up or slim.. But we all mess up at some point so lets all calm down this forum is here for us to help each other and upbuild one another I think everyone knows that pizza is off limits but it happened and now she just needs support. So lets try to give some support and not so much criticizing
  19. yes this is normal.. Im almost 3 weeks post op im not loosing a pound a day anymore and Ive lost 20 pounds also. I also still have port pain. I just had my apt with the dr a few days ago and he said this is normal my port is also still swollen he said it will be this way for a while since they sticthed it to the abdominal muscle.
  20. it all depends on the person.. One thing is that the bigger the person the more they loose usually also men tend to loose more than women.. My ticket is from my pre op diet until now. The dr said if I need a fill I can have one in 4 weeks. I just started mushies :cursing: Yeah I love tilapia yum :scared2:

  24. OK I have to tell everyone... I bought Glucerna because I thought I should try something different.. The first one I drank I was very happy because it tasted so good a lil while later I was out and I started to feel faint then cold sweats then I felt like I will be sick and very weak.. Then it went right through me like the same liquid coming out the other end. OK so I thought maybe this was somthing else so I drank one this morning.. and the same thing happened now I am in bed sick. I hate glucerna!!!
  25. um they didnt tell me anything... all I know is I woke up and could barely talk I did not get my voice back until now 2 weeks later Ive had surgery before and I didnt have any voice problems. Maybe they messed up or somthing i dont know.. But anyways dont worry about it you will be asleep and will not know anything
