There's a weird discharge coming from my anus. Does anyone know what it could be?
So, what's the verdict?

Why can't I lose!!!!!!
Definitely check with your nutritionist. They are a valuable resource that was paid for when you got the band. You will not necessarily lose weight if you eat small amounts. Our bodies are amazing and they will go into starvation mode if they are getting too little. The answer may be in eating more. Good Luck!!

Are you ready to be a parent?
It is not good to laugh this hard when your port is still sore. I'm going to read it again next week. SO FUNNY and TRUE!!

Green Pee and Weird Dreams
Thanks Myra....I feel so much better now. Is it supposed to stay in your system this long? Now I'm wondering if there could be something up with my kidneys if it's taking this long to pass through. What do you think? I should hear back from the surgeon tomorrow.

Just got banded on 5-24-06
:welcomeB: Hi julesings ~ Welcome to LBT!! I was banded on 5-26 and gained 5 lbs in the hospital. That is now gone along with 2.5 more lbs. Definitely all the fluids. Be thankful you didn't have green pee like me. I was beginning to feel like a loner on that one until Myra told me the name of it.....they use a dye during surgery. :phanvan Here's to losing many pounds and I hope you post often.

Where did I go? Who am I now?
Jacqui ~ That's exactly how I feel. I don't see the fat person in the mirror that everyone else sees on the outside. I feel like a thin person inside. I guess it is a form of denial. I would see a pic and think holy cow, who is that, it can't be me. I have always known from a young age who I am and what I stand for.....things do change as you wise up and grow older, but my value system is still the same. It's obvious I deal with emotional eating which has contributed to me becoming MO, but some of that has even been financial struggles and has nothing to do with my core person. I can't wait to transform though. At St. Vincent, they have the butterfly as a mascot. I sent my DH to buy one in the gift shop and don't you know, they were closed! :phanvan Anyway, the point is, we are all coming out of our cocoons and turning into beautiful butterflies. Spread you wings and fly!!

Glad to hear your doing well....me too. I am getting a little concerned about Kim too. Does anyone have her contact info? Please let us know if you've spoken to her. Let's hope she's resting. :notagree

Two sizes of Lap-Bands available
My preband research not only included LBT, but the Inamed site and many others. Here's a link with all their bands and the VanGuard is indeed one of them: http://www.allerganandinamed.com/products/obesity/us/clinician/lapband/prodinfo.html I asked my surgeon prior to surgery which one he thought I would need and it was the one I ended up with, the 10.0 cm band. Also, I requested the box it came in to keep preband thoughts & threads from LBT. I also requested the serial number (which was on the box) in the event I would ever need it. I'm a detailed person that tends to want too much info rather than depending on someone else. I think all surgeons keep the serial number, but good luck getting info out of some medical offices. :phanvan If there has been a leak identified in someone's band, I can compare serial numbers to identify a possible production issue. I am not a negative person and do not intend to ever need this info, but I'm prepared in the event I need it. I love details!! :biggrin1:

I've learned the hard way
I see your point Murphles b/c I thought the same thing. One thing that came to my mind though is that I don't think I had an actual PB and perhaps you didn't either. I think there is a difference between vomit and PB. A PB, in most cases, can be avoided. Vomiting on the other had, can be related to meds and the condition of your stomach after surgery. When I vomited on Sat (the day after surgery) I didn't have the slime and the nausea started after I had taken one of my meds. I only had Water come out....not slime and trust me, I was 100% compliant.....nothing less.....I followed the rules exactly!! This tells me it was a different thing and I've had a couple others on here tell me it was probably post-op sickness. I hope your stomach is doing better now. :biggrin1: I stayed off any pill meds for 1 day and gradually started taking them again. Tomorrow will be my first day with ALL my pill meds. Take care and baby yourself in the beginning.

I'm a little freaked
I don't know about you, but waiting is not my thing. Do you have an urgent care facility in your area? Some people use them as their PCP. I don't think I would wait that long to get into the dermatologist. It is probably nothing, but it's better to know than later. Good luck!!

a bat bit my daughter
Oh good, I'm glad she's getting treatment, but I do hate that she has to endure it. Bless her little heart. When you looked up bats on the net, did you also look up what their poops looks like? Maybe that's something you DH can be watching for tomorrow. Sounds like he is the best person to have a go at it. Hold your baby close and we will keep praying!!

New Arrivals, Let's get to know each other!
I was banded on May 26th. The only pain has been from my port incision. Pain and burning everytime I moved or got out of bed. When asked in the hospital, my pain was usually a 7 out of 10. Keep in mind though that I'm a big baby. I don't take pain very well.....give me pain meds. It's mostly gone today....very minimal, 4 days later. I've also had some shoulder pain in the area of my left collar bone & I know it's gas. A heating pads helps along with walking and an occasional GasX. I'm still not 100%, but getting close with each passing day. Congratulations to ALL of you for your decision to take the lap band journey. I know I did the right thing for me and would do it again in a heart beat. I wish you all the very best!! :clap2:

a bat bit my daughter
Oh mini, this must be terrifying for you as a mother. You are on top of things for sure. Keep going. Don't let the daycare tell you they don't know anything about it. Get the owners involved ASAP. An employee may just be trying to protect the business...or even an owner at that. Your little girl is just too precious to put that stuff over her well being. I would not wait till tomorrow b4 calling her doc. Call the night line and have the doc on call paged. At least they can give you solid direction. Perhaps you do need a trip to the ER just to be safe. I will pray for both of you. Please keep us updated!!!

Green Pee and Weird Dreams
Does sound like a Dr Seuss book, huh? I LMOR today at the surgeons about the green pee. Don't think it's a big deal, but wanted to follow-up just incase. No hunger pains today, but man, there seems to be more food commercials than I remember. Those manly Burger King Whoppers look dreamy......maybe I could just suck some juice out of it......kidding of course. :heh: I have been very sleepy today and seem to be a bit light-headed. My DH thinks it's a lack of Protein, so I'm sipping on my Isopure Zero Carb in place of Water to see if that helps. Not much pain and even had a BM. :clap2: Only bandsters would talk about green pee and their first BM.

Hubby Doesn't want Wife to work
Excellent advice!! My DH had been established as an engineer at the same company for 15 yrs. He was also financially taking care of his mom prior to us getting married. Like you said, it's the not the dollar amount. Stability is a HUGE factor!!

Hubby Doesn't want Wife to work
I have been a SAHM for over 6 yrs now. We will be married 7 yrs this July. When we started talking about marriage, I made it very clear that eventually, I wanted to be a SAHM regardless of what sacrifices needed to be made. I buy & sell clothing on E-Bay. I love garage sales. My kids wear mostly Gymboree clothes and have nice things at cheap prices. My kids want for nothing and even Papaw says we spoil them. I use coupons when grocery shopping. I never go without looking at the weekly flier and coordinating my coupons. We have a 60" HDTV and new cherry dining room set ONLY because they were given to us my by FIL. We don't look like we struggle, but truth is, we are so poor we can't pay attention. :phanvan Most of all, we share a love that is unmatched!! My DH and I fall deeper in love everyday and we treasure the time with our kids. My DH is working on his double masters and we hope to increase our income, the Lord willing. Until then, we are happy poor people doing the best we can. We are so blessed in more ways than money can buy. Now, with all the that we have been trough 2 job changes b/c of reductions and are now making it on an income less than our last job even though everything else has gone up. We have talked about me taking a job to fill in some, but when you add up day care and clothing it takes for a new job, it would be months b4 we would see an increase in our income. We just pray about things and trust the Lord to provide. He has never let us down yet and I know He won't in the future.

Scared to Death
Welcome to LBT!! It's great to have you here!! I hope you find this a place full of info, fun, & encouragement. LBT has been a lifesaver for me. I didn't even finish your post b4 I thought of Dody. She was approved for the lapband via Medicare. She can give you some pointers. Just look under members for her name....Dody. In the meantime, I will let her know your looking for info. Hang in there and keep your chin up. There is ALWAYS hope and light at the end of the tunnel. God bless you and your journey!! :welcome:

kids pics
My boys decided they could go down the slip-n-slide faster today if they took their trunks off. I have a pic, but not sure if I should post it. You can only see part of their butts. I sent it to family, but I guess with all the weirdo's on the net, I'm a little more conservative. :phanvan They had grass in strange places let me tell you. :biggrin1: Who needs to pay for entertainment when you have kids? myband ~ That one with the magnifying glass could win some picture prize I bet....so funny!! Here's a potty pic for you. I have been known to grab a camera before offering assistance. These are precious times, you know? Maybe this is why it took us so long to potty train.

Green Pee and Weird Dreams
I think I'll call about the green pee b/c it shouldn't be this far out from surgery. It's as green as ever, kelly green as a matter of fact. I feel so special now that I'm the only one with green pee. :heh: Another question...... I seem to have been a bit hungry today, but not sure if that's just my belly rumbling or if it's actual "hunger" growls. I know I'm only a few days out. Will this difference become more clear as time goes on?

Strange Reaction from Curves Workout "Friend"
First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on the 85 lb loss!! Sounds like an odd reaction to me as well. How good of a friend is this lady? If she's just a casual acquaintance via Curves, it would be my guess that she has some deeper issues within herself and may be looking to you for some answers. It may or may not have been a personal remark toward you. Either way, it is a bit odd. I attended Curves (pre-band) for 1.5 yrs and didn't lose much weight, but did lose a few inches. Wasn't worth it in the long run without making ALL the lifestyle changes. I did feel better about myself though. Good for you on sticking with an exercise program along with the other things!! Kudos to you!! :banana

May 2006 Band Crew
I got my present early....the MAGIC BULLET!! I can't wait to get it out of the box. So, those of you that use it, any favorite blades for shakes, tuna, & such? I am so excited. Also, I was able to get the box my lapband came in and it shows a lot of info including the serial number. Did anyone else request the box? I think someone on here suggested it. I'm going to keep my preband thoughts inside along with some helpful threads here. I just look at it and realize it's really inside me. :clap2: Hey Kim ~ Where are you? How are you doing? I hope all is well. MarianneTN ~ Thanks for your words of wisdom....I just love the mileage thing. Oh, and the hand-made card idea is wonderful!! My kids would love to help with that. :clap2: Best wishes and fast recovery to: outdoorgirl escudero012004 kato MarionJean minimandy ashagirl You all are going to be so happy to be on the other side!!

Do you take off your shoes?
I'm with you on the foot fungus stuff. :omg: If you take off your shoes, socks are preferred. Actually, I've never asked anyone to do so myself. When we took the kids to Gymboree Play & Music, no shoes were allowed and socks were required for obvious reasons. My boys are 5 yrs and 3 yrs (turning 4 in July) and I completely understand where you're coming from. We recently had to cut a couple of holes in the carpet from where they poured OJ. We took the bissel carpet cleaner to it, but I guess the smell lingered in the pad. I kid you not, I thought we had a skunk in the house a few days later. The only remedy was to cut out that section of carpet. We are now pricing laminate flooring b/c carpet is not going back into this house. In another home, we had the floating laminate flooring...no glue required...and we LOVED it. This is one of my all time favorite pics taken back in '03. The Kix Cereal was easily swept up. I want this flooring again!!

Green Pee and Weird Dreams
Thanks so much for the replies. :biggrin1: Doty ~ I'm drinking as much Water as I can get in. I'm not up to speed yet b/c I'm still cautious since getting sick Sat. I'd have to check my chart to see exactly how much b/c I'm tracking everything that passes my lips. Maybe it's time I up my water some to change that green pee....I'm getting tired of seeing it. Only a weird person would look at their pee everytime. :omg: I bet it is the Vicodin causing the dreams. It takes the pain away and I was getting off of it until that stupid dream that made me jump for those keys. I'll call Walgreens to see what is available. I don't think Tylenol is going to be strong enough for me. Oh, Doty.....I'm wondering if Topomax would help your knees? I have no idea if it's appropriate or not. I know my mom is on it for her neuropathy. Some even take it for migraines. Ask you doc about it. She has also had double knee replacement so I'll ask her what she took and send you a PM. I hate to hear that your still in pain....bless your heart. We need to get rid of that pain ASAP!!
