  1. Holy cow!! That is just terrible. I can't imagine what you must be going through!! You may save some people the same grief if you were to share the surgeon's name. I hope you get this resolved quickly and I too, would want it repaired. I also wonder what type of legal ramifications this situation creates. Perhaps you should consult a medical attorney.....that is of course, after you confirm the band was placed incorrectly. Maybe a third opinion would be appropriate. Good luck to you!!
  2. This has been on my heart all day. I don't have the knowledge to offer advice, but babies pull at my heart strings. Emotions are high for everyone right now and I'm praying for all of you involved. I also pray the the needs of the baby are put BEFORE the physical or emotional needs of ANY of the adults involved. This child is innocent and deserves the very best life has to offer her. Please keep us posted.
  3. You look marvelous!!! You have made a wonderful transformation and this is an inspiration to me. I love pics. :biggrin1: Thanks for sharing.
  4. Julie...YOU DID IT GIRLY!!! Welcome to the other side. :banana I knew you would be fine. So glad to hear from you. I agree on the aloe vera juice, my home will never be without it. Try some warm broth for your throat. You know, my neck was sore too. I think it was positioning on the table or something. Keep in touch!!
  5. I wouldn't put too much emphasis on rejection at this point. Your body is fighting infection somewhere. Don't wait, call your surgeon ASAP. My discharge instructions said the call ASAP if I had a temp over 100.5. Get the message number and they will page your surgeon and they will call you back immediately. You may need some antibiotics. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. I sure hope you get to feeling better soon. I know a fever is not fun.
  6. I have no experience with CPS so I can't really comment on that part. I agree with Donna on the counseling issue. It sounds to me like the father also needs some special attention regarding anger management. This is a tough decision. I wonder why the pastor felt so strongly about calling CPS. Maybe it's a standard response they are supposed to give. I believe in spanking and do use that punishment for my kids when it's appropriate, but I am always wondering when I'm in public if someone is going to report me. Like tonight, my son took off running across the parking lot after I told them both many times to walk with me. After we all got the van, I swatted his little butt. I didn't care who saw b/c this could mean his life. I do wonder though in this day & age if I could be reported.
  7. Thanks for the advice Kim. I take my 2 Flinstones and 1 Viactiv. My leg started to cramp this AM when I stretched b4 getting up. Maybe I'll try some bananas. I bet they would be yummy in my Magic Bullet. Oooo....do you think I could add a tsp of peanut butter? :hungry: I'm craving peanut butter b/c they told me not to eat it b/c of the fat content.
  8. Poor kid....I want to give him a hug!!
  9. Penni ~ I love your pics and like many others, I tend to like the one with the black outfit too. There seems to be something different in your eyes as well.....maybe it's your happy spirit coming through. Thanks for sharing. You are truly a beautiful woman and such inspiration that I look for each time I sign on to LBT. THANKS!!
  10. Don't suck the juice....eat the beans!!! They are recommended by my surgeon. They are one of my favorite sources of protein. Did your dietitian give you a list of approved foods? If not, I would be happy to scan a copy and send you mine. I refer to my list often.
  11. My experience was completely wonderful with the exception of the expected pain. We arrived at the hospital at 10:30AM and they took me in a room right away to take vitals....they wouldn't let my DH go with me at this point. He could only come after they were done with all the pre-op stuff. Why, I still don't know, but it wasn't a problem. Someone finally took me out of the little room into a prep room with a bed & such. The nurse had some papers and they verified all my insurance info and co-pay. Then I changed into a gown & those white support hose & slippers. A guy came in to start the IV port. Interestingly enough, they started a "spare" in the other hand in the event I had something go wrong with this one. That gave me a warm fuzzy feeling that I was in good hands. :biggrin1: My DH finally came in and I had someone to talk to. I was getting bored. :tired A nurse came by to tell me the OR room was running behind and they would get me in as soon as it came available. I was still very calm and relaxed. I thought I may be nervous, but those feelings never came to me. Finally, the anesthesiologist came in to go over a few things and then my wonderful surgeon came in. We talked over a few things. The OR was now available and my surgery was taking place an hour late. Then the nurse wrapped a warm blanket around me and we walked into my operating room. I jumped on the bed....still calm mind you....and they told me I would be getting sleepy as they hooked up the IV & drugs. The last thing I remember was the kind nurse rubbing my arm. I woke up kind of rough in recovery b/c I was having some weird dream. I found out Vicodin will do that to me b/c it continued after coming home. I'm pretty sure I was moaning when I finally came to. The nurse told me I was in recovery and everything went great. Next thing I remember was getting into my bed in my room. From there, I was up every two hours to walk the halls. Thank goodness I had my DH to help me each time. He spent the night in my room with a cot they provided. I munched on ice chips and took pain meds pretty regularly. Most of my pain was in the port area and was a very sharp burning pain. I met with my surgeon's partner the next morning around 10AM. He was great. He was pleased with my progress and released me. We left to come around 11:30AM. It took the nurse a while to do the discharge b/c many of us were going home at the same time. We had a 3 hr drive to come home and my DH got lost. You see, some men just need a woman to help them drive... I was sleeping a good bit of the time. We took a 30-45 min detour, but finally got home. The next day my DH drove to OH to pick up my kids. Life has been pretty much normal since then.
  12. Hi all....just wanted you to know that we started another thread for the month of June. It's called May 2006 Band Crew ~ June Chat, the link is above. I will ask for this one to be closed so we won't have any confusion. You may want to copy/paste on the new thread of any posts you've recently made.
  13. Praising Him for answered prayer!! Thanks to all of you that lifted my request to Him. My DH starts a new job in a couple of weeks. He was able to secure a higher position with a significant pay raise. We have been praying about this for over a year now. All of our expenses have been going up and the old job had frozen OT (he had to work, just didn't get paid) and pay raises. YEAH....we are so happy and thankful!!
  14. Just saw your prayer request on the prayer thread and lo and behold, here you are feeling better!! So glad to hear you got relief and are on your way for what we hope is a quick recovery. Bless your heart....so glad your better.....God does answer prayers!!!
  15. Bless her heart....please tell LegallyKristin she is in our prayers. I will go search some threads right now to see if there is an update as I'm just now getting on for today.
  16. Yeah!! Glad to hear he finally sent the letter.....good for you!! You are now one step closer. Stay strong and don't get discouraged. All your hard work will pay off.
  17. Me too. :omg: Does anyone know if we need to supplement something? It's not every day, but I've never had them this frequently.
  18. Sending warm thoughts your way Julie!!! You are now banded....YIPEE!!! You are going to love this new way of life and I know your are going to succeed!! Give us an update when your up to it.
  19. I'm glad I did a search on this b/c I knew this topic had to be somewhere on here. We just had communion Sunday. I was really worried especially since I'm newly banded. When it was time for the bread, I bit the piece in half and let it melt. The other half is still in my purse. :faint: The drink took me 3 sips to get it down. No problems whatsoever!!
  20. Make it easy for them....I would type the letter for him and take it to the office. Here's what my PCP wrote: Dear Sir or Madam: Please accept this referral for patient 3Loves, DOB XXX. I feel that this patient would benefit greatly from bariatric treatment. If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to call. This is not a surgery clearance, merely a recommendation. I would be furious if my PCP wouldn't give me a letter if I felt as strongly about it as you do. I would move quickly since you have a short deadline. Good luck......I hope you get the letter you need.
  21. Linda ~ Sorry to hear about PMS. Yucko. :tired I'll be joining you next week. Don't worry about the weight gain. Concentrate on following the rules. Now, you remind me of this next week, O.K.? I've heard some say they feel more restriction when it's that time. Let me know if you experience any tightness or such. Hi Myra ~ Well, your just the little lap band trooper!!! Good for you my friend. Yipee.....15 lbs....WTG!!! I don't have much to complain about either. I keep looking at the weeds that need pulled, but I've been a chicken to get out there b/c of DeAnn pulling her port muscle. Maybe I'll stick gloves on my boys and direct them on which ones to pull.
  22. juliegeraci ~ I just wanted to wish you well tomorrow!! YEAH....you getting your band. :clap2: Your surgery will be over before you know it. I hope you've done some research here on what to expect. Most of your pain will probably be in the port area. Every day does get better and it goes so fast. Give us an update when you get a chance b/c I'm anxious to hear from you!!! I'm sending you warm & happy thoughts!!
  23. Christina ~ It sounds to me like you are very well grounded and have thought deeper about this than we all originally thought in the beginning of this thread. You have covered some imporant points in what your looking for. I do wish you all the best and please keep us posted on what develops.....you have my interest in this love story.
  24. I've been on full liquids immediately after surgery on May 26th. I did however, have clear liquids the first few days. I even got sick (no golf ball or slime) the day after which was probably from the anesthesia. I love cottage cheese and apple sauce together...yummy. :hungry: Last night I really wanted cheese so I carefully ate 4 slices of the new Sargento super deli thin cheddar cheese. You can almost see through it and it melts in your mouth. I ate it very slowly. It felt great on my stomach and so satisfying. Before eating it, I did double check to make sure it was on my list of approved foods. :clap2: If I feel ANYTHING in my chest, stomach, or throat, I will stop and let things settle. I find myself eating too fast sometimes. I have to really concentrate on eating slowly. My kids laugh at me for using their old baby spoons. Boy, this does take practice doesn't it?
  25. Looks like a tiny hiney to me. :girl_hug:
