OMG. I'm a June buddy, too. Today is my day. June 13, 2018. I'm #3 on my surgeon's OR schedule, so I probably won't have my surgery until early afternoon. First a week of liver-shrinking HELLo-kitty, now almost a full day of nada á la nada. Leaving in about an hour. Excited but anxious. Nervous but relieved. Oh, no. I've forgotten what a cheeseburger tastes like.

Will definitely have the nurse instruct me on it. I already have the prescription for it. Thank you for the advice! I’m just such a big baby about shots. Scarring childhood incident to blame for that, lol

Sometimes a poor relationship is one of the driving forces behind self destructive eating habits.
While it isn't fair to blame others for the choices you make, it's also unfair to assume the stresses your relationship might goes through after weight loss surgery are "your fault" or something "you chose".
It isn't all on you. Relationships are always two way streets. Staying in them is a daily choice and both partners have to work hard to make them function well. That especially includes times of transition and support.
Sometimes an overindulged comfort habit (and returning to it when we know it's time to outgrow it) is a symptom of a bigger problem. And sometimes moving forward demands that the bigger problem be addressed. Otherwise, you can end up back in the same self destructive cycle.
There is nothing that will sabotage positive changes in your life more than a toxic relationship.
You deserve to be happy. You deserve to be with someone who supports your goals and your health.
A Swedish study last year compared 29,234 obese individuals who had weight loss surgery and 283,748 individuals in the general population. The unmarried people who had weight-loss surgery were 35 percent more likely to get married, and surgery patients who were married were 41 percent more likely to get divorced, compared to people in the general population.

Hi. I am one week post op and similarly am handling liquids well. I had 8 oz Soup for dinner plus a half serving cream of wheat. So, yes. I think the trouble starts with solid food.

I started full liquids yesterday and I haven't had any trouble drinking an 11 oz Protein Shake or eating 1/2 cup of Greek yogurt, so I think we're both doing fine.

Congrats on getting this far in your journey!! My surgery was 6/5/18. I'm officially one week out. Everything went smoothly no pain meds needed after and no nausea at all. I did throw up once about 2 hours after I woke up due to residual blood in my "new" stomach but after that it's been smooth sailing! You'll do great!!!

Hello fellow June sleevers ! I am a week post op now and feeling great ! I am not recovering anymore since I won't be able to sleep in the afternoon (which was necessary up to that point) and I have no pain whatsoever. I can take care of my 2 year old and walk her to daycare so that's fun.

I feel like I am doing full liquids a little bit too well : I was able to drink about 10 oz of Soup and apple sauce for lunch without issue (I was obv full after). Anyone else can take as much ?

Heyyyyyy surgery twin! I’m so glad you’re doing great! That nausea was a beast those first few days. Yuck! I’m trying to get my liquids in too. I haven’t tried anything like the cream of wheat just cause I’m a chicken. But I couldn’t be happier with my decision. All the built up anxiety is finally gone. Again, I’m glad you’re doing great.

Surgery was the in the afternoon on the 11th. The CO2 pain is almost all the way dissipated. I think I will be able to sleep propped up with just pillows tonight. I will say, the CO2 pain was a motivating factor in walking my a$$ off. Pain around incision sites basically just feels like I have done 1000 crunches (sore muscle pain). I do still have an anesthetic tube running into my abdomen. I am suppose to pull it out when the tube with the medicine in it shrivels up. The tube is in a fanny pack type thing that I am currently carrying around my neck. My stomach hurts when I drink to fast and some of the gurgling is a tad uncomfortable. I am still using the codeine for now. I was able to get my Water in yesterday, but not all of my Protein.
Going to try just drinking protein water today and count it for both?
Only other issue is I feel like I have a hard time finishing going pee, but I think it is just all the abdominal trauma or medicine that is going into my abdomen.

When I sit here and reflect on how much better I feel than I did on April 18 when I started the preop diet I can honestly say that I have no worries on how long this process is going to take.
Before April 18 I had excruciating back pain that limited my activity. Going to the grocery store was a nightmare for me and other activities were just eliminated. I tried a few medications and even had injections from a spine physiatrist with no improvement. My wheezing and shortness of breath (despite 3 daily asthma/COPD medications) was so bad it was hard for me to walk across the street to the mailbox. My pulmonologist was frustrated with the situation as was I. I was a prisoner in my home and feeling really overwhelmed, sad and resigned to the situation I was in. I have been unable to work for over a year. I honestly did not expect the surgery to help any of this.
As of today I have lost 33.8 pounds. My back pain has COMPLETELY resolved and I am able to do whatever I want without pain. I am OFF all three of the asthma/COPD medications since 2 weeks post op and have used my rescue inhaler exactly 3 times since. I am able to walk 1.25 miles in about 25-30 minutes every morning in the Texas heat and humidity. If these changes had not happened to me I would never believe them.
I still have about 100 lbs. to lose to reach my goal. I do not care how long it takes. This surgery is the BEST thing I have ever done for myself. Sure, I get jealous when I see people losing faster than I am but I can only experience my own journey.

I definitely think that there's a pressure to be a poster child of positive attitude. Always have positive affirmations and outlooks, reminding each other of all of the great things that will come from the change but sometimes it's a little tiring and real life has changing tides... So I was looking for people who maybe understood how I felt and I could lean on their collective knowledge (not compare) until I could see my forest past the trees

I fear this too. We have a tool to help us, write down everything you eat, double check your food choices, remember why you did this. Think of all the health benefits you have now and focus on your success and don’t have ‘cheat days’ with food.

Ok, take a deep breathe and forgive yourself as you would a friend.
I think, regardless of when you have the surgery, you need to talk with a therapist to work through some of your triggers for post/long term success.
Start your fluids and Protein and steer clear of your triggers. This phase is super hard, I’m so glad mine is over, I struggled really badly. cheese was my weakness.

Sending you hugs & love as you walk down this path, be kind and generous with yourself.
It’s not clear from your post if you spoke with your friends surgeon or if they spoke on your behalf. If your treating doctors are saying all is ok to go ahead and you are ready I’d say go for it. If you need more time, then wait.

Once I had my date I let my work know so we could arrange for someone to do my job while I’m away. I told them I was having my hernia repaired, and I’d need between 2 to 3 weeks off. I’m going back after 2 weeks cause I feel awesome!
My work is pretty friendly and open, and I’ve shared different personal things before, but didn’t for this one.
    Love the kittens
