I'm anxiously waiting for insurance approval. My primary insurance is Medicare, BCBS is my secondary (I think that's how it works). I did the 6 months of diet consults, my BMI is 42, and I have severe sleep apnea. I completed the checklist from my surgeon's office; did my psych eval, nutritionist visit, breathing test, and all. I have read about people getting denied by insurance and it has me very worried. I've started stress eating because of it. I don't know the exact insurance requirements because I think it gets approved by BCBS, but BCBS has different requirements for people with Medicare and I cannot find that information online. I have called my insurances many times about the requirements without any clear answers. I worry that I'm missing something, like 5 years of weight history or something that would keep me from getting the surgery.
Right now, I feel like I did right before I left home to go to college, it seemed like it would be so great there and I had worried that the day would somehow never come.

Maybe you or one of your friends knows someone disabled or elderly who would appreciate some home cooked meals? Or, another example, every Sunday my church brings a home-cooked meal to a local children's hospital for families who have children in the cancer ward since hospital cafeterias are quite expensive and the families are already so stressed.

My surgery is at 11:45 tomorrow. As long as my surgeon doesn’t cancel it. As of my pre-op appointment last Monday I had lost zero pounds on the first week of pre-op diet. Same on Friday so my nutritionist advised I cut carbs and add Fiber. I get 3shakes, 1 Lean Cuisine and a cup of veggies. I did and this morning I was down two pounds. Probably will be OK but I’m a champion worrier.
Trying to stay busy cleaning and prepping ice pops and Jello to quell the anxiety.
Good luck to all the 6/11’s tomorrow.

IV fluids, gas, Water retention, hormone dump from surgery, etc..
Patience, Grasshopper. It's not going to happen overnight. Now is the time to hide the scale and concentrate on fluids, Protein and healing. The weight loss will follow.

I don’t have any hair pics but at around 3 months PO mine started falling out by the fistful. I had thick hair that I straitened once it started coming out it became easier to manage when I left it wavy. Nobody could tell it happened because I changed the look of my hair. I’m almost 7 months PO and my Hair loss is back to my normal rate and I have a lot of whispy new growth.

I don’t have any hair pictures, mine looks the same to most people. Only I get the joy and knowledge of pulling it out of my hair brush and shower drain daily 🙄 everyone’s Hair loss is different though.

I do smoothies all the time now, practically everyday, with Protein Powder. I can see you are post op, just not how far. But, for that other OP I’d be careful introducing fruit until it’s allowed. Just because it’s blended fruit, doesn’t mean it won’t cause distress on your pouch.

You’re definitely not the only one. My nutritionist had me make smoothies during the liquid phase and allowed me to had a bit of PB which really helped. My fav was banana, milk and some sugar and salt reduced Peanut Butter.

Each plan is different. Not all plans require Soups to be strained. Mine plan for instance was full liquids once discharged from the hospital. The rule was anything that would go through a straw. So I made Soup, pureed, but did not strain. I was also allowed yogurt, pudding, and other very soft foods during the liquid stage.
So just because your surgeon requires this program does not mean that others will stress their stomachs or threaten the "seal". As long as everyone follows their surgeons plan, it's all good.

Drink more. That is an insanely low total Fluid volume for 6 days out. Watch out for symptoms of dehydration..it's dangerous.

Bring him to a seminar or something so he can understand what the surgery is instead of what he assumes it is. Other than that I would suggest losing a ton of weight now by dumping his ass.

My story is very similar to Matt's -- my husband was reluctantly supportive. Just this week, on vaca and seeing a food number of overweight and uncomfortable people, he actually thanked me for having the guts to get the surgery. He gets niw that this surgery was for my health. It was very sweet and reaffirming, especially because I am only half way to my goal.

My Hisband doesn’t want me to have the surgery either, but like I told him I’m doing this for me, my health and my family (including him). I have 4 grandchildren and I want to do whatever I can to be around to be their GeeGee! Now I told him I love you but I love me too!! Believe me I have always been the person who just goes with the flow and not rock the boat to cause an argument, but over the last few years I have found my voice and I’m gonna use it to take care of me!! Good luck to you!!

Thank you! I am to an extent. I've spent the last seven years of my life with him and he's been there for me through all of my ups and downs, even when he's contributed to my downs, and that is why it hurts me so much.

I had both done together, added a little more time to the procedure, but I was up walking the morning after. My hernia wasn’t sizeable, dr said it was small. I don’t know if size matters.

Water & Protein are my goals. I add protein to literally everything during my liquids to help my tummy heal. I keep a water bottle by my bed so I can sip whenever I wake.
