Yes, I was swollen for around 2 weeks or a bit longer.
  2. It's my understanding that we should avoid Advil b/c it is an NSAID. I would double check with your surgeon.
  3. My doctor was not a part of my decision making. I wasn't required to have a referral. I did tell my doctor after the fact. I did not have to wait 6 months either b/c I had a hernia repair.
  4. Have you considered doing WLS in Vegas. The place where I had mine done has a program for people coming in from out of town. https://blossombariatrics.com/fasttrack/ The don't require a referral. It might not hurt to call them for a consultation. It might be easier than going to Tijuana.
  5. I'm sorry he's not being more supportive. I'm glad that he is "supporting" you getting the surgery. While it would be easier if he changed his eating habit along with you, it sounds like he's not down for that. I know it's tough but keep on focus with your health and your eating. I'm almost 8 weeks post op and this weekend, I had to deal with my daughter making homemade bread and my husband had me go though the drive thu to get him an ice cream cone. It's agonizing at time but I know it will be worth it in the long run.
  6. This is great advice. And, for me, eating out is part of what we do. Where we go and how much and what I eat is a whole new ballgame now. I have been consistently weighing everything at home and logging all my food including entering recipes so I will know the calories and macros. It's for sure harder when you go out but I can at least get close. Bottom line is I can't each much in a sitting regardless of being out at a restaurant or at home. I'm fine with a to go box
  7. Pre surgery, we used to go out to eat multiple times each week. Las Vegas is full of so much good food. Now that I can eat solid food again, just not much of it, I'm trying to figure out how we can still enjoy dinners out on the town and still eat within my calorie range. So far, we've had pretty good luck with sushi. I usually get sushimi and I only eat a little of it. I'm thinking Mexican might be okay if I order fajitas. Steakhouses, I could share steak or have leftovers. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
  8. Leslie Sansone is NOT high intensity at all. It's a great program for someone that just wants to move. IMHO it get boring after a while and I want something more challenging. (Even though I don't have the energy to get though a whole program LOL). Slim in 6 will have some moves that she will show you a modified version of the move so I like that. I really like the HIIT programs. I just search various videos and some have modified moved and others don't. The thing about HIIT is that it's doesn't get boring and you can challenge yourself as you build stamina to get more reps in. My surgeon has cleared me for core work, abs, etc and said I could get as intense as my body would allow.
  9. I usually do more low impact cardio. I use YouTube videos right now. I started with Leslie Sansone and I've done some of the HIIT for beginners programs, and I really like a Beachbody program called Slim in 6 (Burn it Up) that's on YouTube. I can't do the whole thing (yet) but I skip ahead and do some of each of the segments.
  10. This creamy chicken spinach bake was sooo yummy! The sauce is good with riced cauliflower. https://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=687100
  11. My surgery was done outpatient at a surgery center. I was home by 3:00 the same day. I'm glad I didn't have to stay overnight.
  12. I did but mine was under my right rib cage. I was really worried but eventually it stopped and everything is all good now.
  13. I think mine lasted longer than usual. I had an infection at my big incision. It was at least 12 days for me until I didn't feel pain there
  14. How much do you chew? I looked though my notebook and my guidelines say 20-30 after the first 2 weeks. In the "nutrition for life" section, there is no mention. Do you count your chews? Sometimes, I find that I forget to chew as much as I probably should. I'm just curious about what other people are experiencing.
  15. I had GERD before my sleeve and I have not had it since. Everyone is different.
  16. My plan has me not drink 10 min before, none during, and 20 after. The only time this has been an issue for me has been when I've eaten something spicy. I do take a drink of water shortly after I eat lunch in order to take my vitamins.
  17. Have you actually gotten sick or had food get stuck when you've eaten or is it that you are just scared of that happening?
  18. My best guess is that you will be fine. You won't be able to eat as much but you will be able to enjoy the yummy Disney goodness. I hope to go on a Disney cruise again one day.
  19. I'm 6 1/2 week and eat mostly protein (chicken, ground turkey, shrimp - lots of shrimp, steak, etc) and occasionally sauteed zucchini or a tiny spinach salad w/ blue cheese and a few slices of strawberry and a tiny bit of goddess dressing. The trick is to eat slowly and chew the heck out of everything. I can feel when I'm getting full so I know when to stop. I drink a premier nutrition shake for breakfast every morning.
  20. Everyone is different but I enjoy small dinners out a restaurants (well, shared dinners) at 5/6 weeks. I haven't had a cocktail yet.
  21. Congrats! What did you do for waist training?
  22. I usually have a high tolerance for pain and pain meds make me sick too. The gas pain wasn't too bad, but other pain, for my big incision (which got infected) and I guess internal incision were pretty rough. I took the anti-nausea pill they gave me and waited about 20 min and then took pain meds. I set an alarm so I wouldn't miss a dose because I could definitely tell when the pain meds would wear off.
  23. I had reflux before surgery. I'm 6 weeks post op and am eating regular food, just not much of it. I have not had any issues with reflux post VSG. I was not given any meds for reflux either.
  24. What are you eating and how often? I'm supposed to eat 3 meals and 2 snacks. I drink a shake (breakfast) and have lunch and dinner. Some days I might have a snack but usually not.
  25. No issues for me either. I started "real food" at 3 weeks.
