Once upon a time I had a doctor ( not my Bariatric Surgeon, not even my current PCP) tell me: I'd like you to weigh 148 lbs. My answer: I would too but I don't see that it Will be happening without Bariatric Surgery. If wishing weight away would work none of us would be overweight.

I keep thinking of the same thing being told to someone with obstructive coronary artery disease...
"Did you do it on your own and correct your diet to avoid a heart attack? Or did you do it the easy way and have that pesky triple bypass they said you needed. That's not natural! You must have low self esteem!"

The surgery went great. It’s a long one though - a little over 11 hours. The surgeon removed 15 lbs of skin and fat. Imagine that! The pain was tough the first few days in the hospital but they keep you well medicated. I spent 3 nights and 4 days at the hospital which felt right. Now I’m home resting for about two weeks. The only thing I can do movement wise is walk for about 10-15 minutes every other hour.
The amazing thing is that even with the swelling from surgery I can already see and feel the difference. I can look straight down at a flat tummy and he contoured my out thighs which now look athletic. I have not had a flat mid section since I was 12 so that part is very encouraging. Moreover, I can already feel the new tightness in the muscles. In 6-8 weeks when I can resume exercise I will be stronger and that will make me happy.
Once the bruising goes away I will post some more before and after pictures.
If you are considering any skin removal surgery I am more than happy to discuss it with you.

Sounds lovely, how about say 1/2 a ripe peach? Learned back in my earlier baking days a tiny bit of almond extract enhances the taste of cherry🍒 or peach 🍊pies.🍝

Well, I made it through my first day of the pre-op diet! I had apple & cinnamon oatmeal, raspberry Jello, vegetable beef Soup, Premier Protein shake, a Protein Bar, VLC bar, and 69 ounces of flavored water. The only problem I'm having with it is that I spend more time in the bathroom than anywhere else! I keep telling myself that it's all worth it and a small price to pay for being healthier and living a longer and happier life! I'm off to make more Jello for tomorrow! How was your first day?

I'm still hoping to join you guys but it would have to be the last week, otherwise June**July. Mount Vernon Ohio 48 miles NE of Columbus where I'll have my surgery at OSU-Wexner Medical Center. I'm 72, don't know know my surgeon's name but if you'd like to send them a sympathy card I'm sure they would understand. This is my 3rd bucking bronco in the Weigh Loss Rodeo and this time I'm not going be thrown off, I'm going to get me the Blue Ribbon RnY surgery😝💤😝

I am a newcomer to this forum and posted on 4-22-18 about major complications with the gastric bypass procedure that I have been having. Unfortunately no one responded to my pleas. I really need help and am hoping somebody will try to help me.

I suspect I will grit my teeth every, morning, every bedtime I will say Every day is one day sooner to surgery. Remember my peeps, I have had the equivalent of a 13 month pregnancy carrying the surgery dream around, while many of you have had a smoothly greased slide into your sleeve or RnY I have continued to waddle along waving as you zoomed by. Oh I've helped each of you set,off your fireworks, but I never got a sparkler, or even a box of bang snaps out of the deal. Always a bridesmaid but not the Bariatric Bride. But I may still be the June Bariatric Bride, I've ordered the houquet, shoes and tiara, I'm going to be ready for my Surgical Bridegroom when he calls me to him. I feel a little like a Jerry Springer bride, don't care about ratings --just going to be sure to make an appearance--.Keep tuned in, you don't want to miss this one!👼

I’m 2 days after you! Going under is the easy part! I have had 13 different surgeries in my life & lots of other things I have been put out for. I always sing [emoji445] I Wanna Be Sedated by the Ramones to the doctors before I go under. I’m sad because I just realized I won’t be able to have my “last meal” the night before because of the liquid diet! I always stay up late & eat something crazy like ice cream or Froot Loops the night before!!!!

As gross as swallowing may sound to me (no offense and no judgment) I hear its very high in protein! So you may be able to supplement your Protein intake that way : )
