  1. And you may discover things later you never liked that you do now. And perhaps they will stay down where these things don't. I still have trouble with Greek Yogurt, cottage cheese and bananas and I'm 7 months past surgery. And all 3 were go-to prior to surgery, so I do miss them.
  2. How can we help? Almost all of us have survived the liver shrinking/ preop liquid diet, although it is no fun it does get you prepared. I did the entire month of August 2018, lost 15 pounds, made my liver sleek smooth and healthy, and I believe that was a good part of why my surgery was so pain-free and I did so well. No gas , almost none of the Bad things you read of on here.It does get you used to liquids and you will certainly be on them after surgery. They to find ones you can stand the taste of, also there are protein waters you can try. My current fab flavor is Ensure High Protein Strawberry , for various reasons, although I am 7 months out I still have at least 1 a day. Anyway it tastes just like Strawberry Quik to me. Many like Premiere Protein,or Muscle Milk, I used to like the Blueberry Greek Yogurt flavor. Some like Atkins, I didn't that much. I am hindered because I am allergic to chocolate and bored with think, white, tasteless vanilla and those are the easiest to find. So how are you suffering, Just emotionally? Come on tell me, I'm old enough to be your grandma at the least , probably great grandma so I don't shock easy anymore. And I do care, I want everyone to have good experiences, with weight loss, certainly lived a long, life without it, and am much happier with it! And I am just one of many helpful people on Bariatric Pal.
  3. I just had one on March 11th,not all bad, got there at 8:30AM and was done by 2:30 PM, feel good after,no nausea or bad effects then. My problem, and keep in mind it probably isn't the norm, happened the next day and night. Started out okay, had a BM, and then the tsunami hit. My body decided " Too much iron" " must get rid of it" started with a massive black black sticky BM which went on and on until 3 AM when I was passing filthy mop water, 3 of them and finally it was over. I had Black bm before when trying oral pills, but not so much volume and frequency. Should have weighed myself, maybe the stall corrected itself. PCP said might be every 3 months, I will hear up because I still have had increased energy and no so short of breath, maybe my red blood cells are happy too and more willing to carry my oxygen to my body! Don't worry , I honestly think I am the only one with ?problems out of the deal!
  4. Freestyle sounds like no style at all, don't think I would want a surgeon who merely " eye-balls" their work. Always thought, itwas a pretty straightforward thing, the sleeve, then you hear of posters with hour-glass shaped stomach remnants, ones that were big and floppy, and you say " I just don't know" maybe I'm lucky I was a RnY bypass, although I bet there may be misshapen or wrong- sized pouch too.
  5. I would go with clears like broth, Tomato Soup is infamous for its high sugar/carb content, many a Bari- pal has had a crash landing into dumping with Mr Red and liquid!
  6. Never take advice from someone with absolutely no experience. If you haven't walked the WALK , do not be giving,me no TALK!!
  7. A while back Aldi was having a squatty-style potty, probably a knock-off. but they were asking only $9.99 for it. Of course I heard. about it when my local was depleted, but maybe I still will find one without going to the Amazon giant spider, I would rather find them instead of ordering, even if it is only a day or 2 delay. If I wasn't into Instant Gratification would I have grown into Obesity? Probably not!???????????Haunt me not, all you Evil things, you had me too long!
  8. Sort of like hitting yourself on the head with a ball peen hammer? Feels so good when you can take a break from bashing yourself! LOL??
  9. Everybody usually is. You're excited to the point you can hardly speak but deep inside there is a small grain of" What am I doing to myself?" And when your surgery is over that may be the first thought you have when you wake up. But day by day it does get better and you will be back to the point where you're giving yourself a High Five for having made this choice. It does change things for the better!
  10. Wishing you the best of luck @ Cajun Sam. We are the same height and have the same goal but I started out substantially higher and at 7 months am now 234.6, but this "ole girl" will make it there also! I make it up in dogged stubbornness, what advantage you may have in youth, and we will make it to the Finish line in our own time!???
  11. Alwzla8, you're just looking for that Mush Rush! May everything go well for YOU!❤No April Showers, Just April Strength and Power!
  12. If you hang too long with one that treats you line an Option you may never meet the one that treats you like a Priority! Just some advice from theBariatric Godmother!
  13. God Bless both of You also! You are one of the reasons I didn't go inactive after surgery, wallow in my misery, and have a group of PLOM days, borrowed that term from Mrs Gamgee, stands for Poor Little Old Me, got to wonder why I have this burden to bear? but you, know what? I have my friends here, I have GOD riding back-up for me, and as His Child there is nothing that can't be handled and I am never forsaken. And that is the Super- Coolest thing of ALL! If I need more surgeries, well No Big Thing, I have made it this far, might as well go for the Gusto of Life!
  14. Had my GB out 35 years ago last mobth, back,in the Bad Old Days when everything was open incision. In fact when I had my pre-surgical last year I told my surgeon I would rather have an open than no WLS surgery at all. He looked at me with an amazed look, said "Do you know how long. it takes to heal an open incision?" Flipped up my shirt, showed him my Right Paramedian, 2 inches above, 3 inches below waist. He laughed and said " Point taken, but I almost always do laparoscopic" and I have 7 little scars, at 7 months, you would be hard pressed to find, well you still can see the top one a little, where he put the liver retractor, because I don't have stretch marks there to cover it up. But they are sikvery, pretty , and I wish he could give lessons to the doctors that sewed up other places on me, some of them are super- evident.
  15. Danny Paul is a treasure on here, many of his postings have helped me! I just hope I can pay it forward as time goes by,guess I sure can try!
  16. Oh Ken S , are you monitoring? I'm almost as bad as her, been so long for me, if I got a new phone, I probably wouldn't get back in either. I know the advice is different password for Different accounts, but it gets hard to remember each one and all the PIN numbers, feellije I'm digetted to death!
  17. OMG, I sure hope not, heavy metals can be poisonous and I neednothing else " Heavy" in my life! Spent too too many years as Hefty, want to make it through Ample Sample and on to a mere armful. Maybe there will be guys not too senile to notice when it finally happens. Probably never will remarry but everyone deserves a friend or 2.
  18. Well mine is " Going to Make the Rest of my Life the Best of My Life" but willing to embrace a few Sucky Times to make it there!
  19. What do you put in yours? Made myself a fruit one Thursday but haven't gone Green, probably should, always feared it would be like eating lawn grass, did that once on a bet,Nasty Nasty Nasty!
  20. Next step, suppositories, enemas and the Evil Cherry'tasting Milk of Magnesia. After that the Emergency Department and some of those people got big hands and thick fingers , Yeeouch! May the poo? be with you soon and then on his merry little way!
  21. Keep marching towards it, hope in your ❤ and a smile? on your face, you've almost made it THERE! And give us all the updates as soon as you feel good enough! Stay a cuddly bear? Kate Bruin!
  22. Saw one, the two ladies jogging, one says There are only 2 reasons I'm doing this, the good- looking guy I saw running ahead and the evil pervert with the knife I saw, running just behind me!
  23. What a dynamite idea, then you' ok be always be reminded of where you have been and know there are brighter thinner days ahead for YOU!❤
  24. And I'm sending love and prayers to you also! My RnY journey has been anything but picture- perfect, have frequent choruses of "Is that all there is?" but hoping my doctors are not lying to me, that there is a final victory ahead. And you have had so much in a short time it is a Wonder you are not standing out in the middle of the road going Whaaat? but hope life finally levels off and you can find some joy in all that has happened. Remember we are here, we do understand, if we can give you strength, we will!! You are strong, although you probably find that hard to believe now. ?❤❤?
  25. Know this song you're singing about no choice where the weight loss starts, my firsts were forearms, face, neck, chest, my Boobs are approaching tube Sox with tennis balls, then rump fat pad Before the actual, side to side measure went down, now thighs and belly, although I fear it never will go flat, too many years and 3 over 9 pounder babies did a evil thing to muscles there. And now I have gone from solid obese bloat to ridges where the fat has dissolved, this is NOT what I thought was meant by " Washboard Abs" think I could srubs stains out there first before doing laundry. Oh well, it is what it is! Still I am becoming half the Woman I once was and twice as thrilled as I thought I could be! Onederland may be not that far ahead, and T *H *A*T is sure something I doubted would ever come. Yeah I told my Bariatric Team it was my desire, but I had failed so many diets at so many diets, I was willing to spout the Company Line nut didn't truly believe glhard work would bring anything but exhaustion m But I had Exhausted all my other options, I was even a Structurelized Starvation failure, made me sick, not thin. You become pretty much a NonBeliever in defense. But from 365+ down to 234.6, it is as much a miracle as this Woman could find. Where will I stop? Dr Needleman's NP Valerie would be satisfied with just sub-200 for me at 73, but deep inside is a little kernal that says " Maybe you can still make it down to 175, maybe you'll make your dream of a 15 Junior!" I mentioned in another thread getting $1 bras and panties on clearance at Wal- Mart, well they are C cups, for my weight I am not excessively busty, many are D, DD or above! I told someone I was talking to I am a Bloated Athletic build, she said the two don't go together, well that's the category I belong in, once the Fat Shell finishes cracking and falls away, the world will see. And,because,i have 2 knee replacements and an ankle that was not adequately repaired I cannot get on my toes to run, but I would like to walk a portion of a marathon before I turn 75. Is that a silly senile dream? Sure hope not!
