June 2019 Surgery Siblings!
Love the rose quartz stone, one of my all-time favorites. Welcome Alice, this is a great place to meet people who are on similar journeys. And there are many still active that are veterans of VSG or Gastric bypass like me. If you have any questions as time goes by, please feel free to ask. I have learned so much from those ahead of me and love sharing information with the " Newbies" like you. And when your surgery is completed be sure to update us, we will be happy to celebrate with YOU!?

Seeking Nutritional Advice ?
Zoodles are good, I use Green Giant riced broccoli or cauliflower in my homemade soups, really liked the cauliflower medley one. Still living a good portion on soups, make your own and you know what they contain. Probably making some variety,of vegetable soup this evening, season it gently,, should be,good for several meals.

Two days out
you are allowed to scream, you are allowed to cry, you are even allowed to question why., But the one thing you are not allowed to do is Give Up, do,t,look behi,d you are no longer going that way. Even if your steps seem to falter, have faith in yourself, be gentle , be sure kind to yourself as you heal. Day by day you will get stronger, you will find your strength as your life starts to,balance out. And be,proud of how far you have come already. and those foundations will help you in your post-surgery life. Up i can do it , my friendc you can really do it and do it well. God Bless.

June 2019!!! Surgery Siblings!!!
Thanks, I sure will. Found out I rather like losing weight, used to kill my home scales because they were so mean to me, never seemed to recognise my efforts and give,me credit for my attempts. Once marched out to the metal dumpster, threw it at the back wall just to hear it crunch and fall apart. Mean luttlecritter, aren't I?

Revision
And so you may beat them at their own game, maybe only 1bariatric surgery but GETD could be considered a gastrointestinal emergency repair. And if so, that's a new one to be covered.

Mental Evaluation
Hey Briswife, they asked me on my first visit if I was Bi-Polar? Worried for months until I saw that person again, turns out it was just a part of her questionaire, just like that blasted Depression one they keep giving me-- I wish they would stop. " How many times this week have you thought about killing yourself?" Will they be disappointed if I haven't? Like the old joke Person #1 So what did you do this weekend? Person#2 Why? What did you hear?

When will I start feeling full?!?
Well I don't know if I still ever feel full? Sunday morning going down, had a coupon for Glucerrna, was going to expire today, !3 off is $3 off so bought me some Butter Pecan, Eat your lttle heart out Mrs Gamgee, in their onfinate stupidity it only seems to be marketed in the US. Having it over ice because I forgot to refrigerate it. Not too shabby, none are perfect, that's just the nature of the beast. Sad when you wake up,and say " It must be morning because I AM IN PAIN" most of the time I keep up with you younger chicks but in the Early AM my feathers do drag and look rumpled. Probably couldn't even bring more than a couple $ on the open market. At 6AM is my Carafate, praying it is MAKING a difference in my ulcerations. You Say I should be able to tell by lack of pain? Well it always hurts over my pouch and in the right subcostal area, always has. Just don't mention it constantly but that's the facts of my life. And as for my satisfaction levels 1. I really should eat or drink something, it's TIME 2. How much and for how long should I take this in? 3. Ought Oh, I am starting to hiccups --is it a full symptom or pre- puking? 4. Well that answered that question, and it was 4 tablespoons. Let it rest a while and then maybe some broth? And the few times I have success, food tastes wooden, not once can I say " Gee that sure tasted GOOD! And believe you me, I WOYLD LIJE to say that! Meanwhile the Sun still shines, the birds go Tweet - Tweet, and like my muses the MONKEYS once sang "Another Pleasant Valley Sunday!" Just sign me' Nearly 9 months and Whining" and no Clinic Appointment until August, maybe they feel I'm boring or they think others need them more. I believe the correct term is Benign Neglect!???

This picture shocked me
And mine is also starting to shape better, mow if I could do something about my ugly face. I think I now have wrinkles like a basset hound on either side of my mouth. That and the fact I now have high, pfominate cheekbone, freaks me out!I have one of those faces, look pretty okay in life, but if you take a picture, it is so 2 dimension, all you see is someone that looks so bad, they should have buried me and maybe they still will.

People post less about perfect
I can tell why people compare their weight losses 1, You rationalize it!--- Same time Same weight loss 2 Yiycsee Suzie or Sally be- bopping. along, walking 5 mikes daily, never nauseous, never dizzy, skin snapping right into shape, they don't have areas on their tummy or thighs that look like deflated rubber balloons. which leads to #3 3. Maybe I'm doing it all wrong. Maybe when's have more bloods era when they will find my vitaminn leveks al screwy , maybe I am so malnourised that there may Not be a any, hope of fixing ME.

Worried I'm going about this all wrong - help?
And thank you SublimeLemons f9rvasking the question, you may have helped another person with your questions.

March 2019 sleepers
What is a NOLA gal like you doing in Viet Jam? Is it business or a pleasure trip? Don't know if I could go there or not, I'm sure it is TRULY beautiful in 2019. ME----- I remember the Viet Nam War,too strongly, just my hangup, I probably wouldn't visit the EUROPEAN concentration camps either, I avoid locations of human suffering.

This picture shocked me
Well the song from " Oklahoma" says Everything is up to date in Kansas city" and you're testimony to the fact. While you weren't looking one-half of you disappeared! Congratulations my friend#

Anyone have experience with needing to be dilated after gastric bypass?
Oh yeah Baby, I am the Queen of All that- June 12th will be either my 12th or 13th lifetime, 10 after my RNY bypass with the strictures and jejunal ulcerations, This should be the last, if it is not at the desirablecstate surgery may be ahead. They have repeatedly dialated, thought at first I was just with an opening that snaps shut but it was more due to the ulcers and swelling present. But it is what it is and will be eventually corrected, in the meantime my weight is decreasing, lost about.110 pounds, give, orbtake since surgery almost 10 months ago to,IT will be 5th of June 10 months. Not the journey I expected or was planning but it's still good and May take me where I need to be.

Hair losssssssss
I am a red-head, at best we are the fewest hairs per square inch, just had my have cut to a d.a., wore this style at 14, don't gave the swoop ducktail, but if my hair is cut short it does tend to wave and curl.So going that route, wigs are hot, always found them uncomfortable and I just don't have the money they cost!

Worried mom
He had better consult with his surgeon. I have had many of those things and I am a bypasser with a stricture, food can't pass through. This is usually a gastric bypass problem but not all VSG are exempt. And if one variety doesn't work, tastes so bad you can't stand it, there are many others to chose from. The kind that works for me isn't one you commonly hear of. After 10 months of protein shakes one does become a connoisseur, I finally found one that doesn't choke me up, has flavors I can stand and doesn't totally break the bank. And lastly your son may have developed a temporary allergy to some of the milk proteins, there are soy-based, or plant- based, personally I don't like them as well but they are a total God-Send for many. There are always answers to every question, just not always easy to find.

1 month from surgery
Focus on where you want to go; never focus on your Fears. And Focus means Follow----- One --'-- Course--'-' Until --'-' Successful. Start Walking, enjoying nature and your surroundings. This will get you prepared for pist-surgical exercise. Follow your Doctor's instructions, they have been in the business longer, seen patients through this before, they know what works and what doesn't. Yeah We Are All Different but most of the basics still apply. Practice taking small sips, after surgery you wont be able to chug like a sailor on shore leave. Slow down the speed that you eat now, the practice will stand you in good stead. And every day be grateful, you have been approved for surgery, many people didn't get approved, they would exchange places with you in a. ❤beat. And change is a part of challenge, if you really look you can see the word within it.

May 2019 Surgeries ?
Well it is to be expected; you are about to embark on a journey that will last the rest of your life. Yes you have done a lot of the preliminaries, but as my Late Daddy would say "Its time for the s*** to hit the fan!" Gosh I miss some of his witticisms! You know it is odd the things you remember. I remember being a mini-Frustr8, attending parades, my little town had lots of them, and Daddy hoisting me up,on his shoulders so I could see better. And how safe I felt! I normally have acrophobia, fear of heights, but never with Daddy, he kept me safe. And I'll close with a thought from my motivational app, says it pretty fine. " Don't think what can happen in a month. Don't think about what can happen in a year. Focus on the 24 hours in front of you & do what you can to get closer to where you want to be." Love ?, hugs and prayers? from Frustr8 for all your Tomorrows.

June 2019!!! Surgery Siblings!!!
And debbiddle, this is going to succeed, work with this second chance, I'm 73, still a work in progress, almost 9 months out, lost over an 100 since surgery day, 150+ since my highest weight. I worked over 3 years to get it, I want and will make a success of it. Close to what my Nurse Practioner wanted meat but I'm not stopping, I want to be a size 15 junior and weigh 175, let's watch and see if I make it! Last time I saw them the estimated date I'll reach goal is my anniversary or slightly after it. I figured it might take me 18,mo ths, so 12-13 months; that would be so cool!

New Member
If you feel like talking, there are several of us on here who have had strictures, I had an RNY, have been fighting it and jejunal ulcers since October 2018, a month and half. after my surgery on September 5th. Been a long time, healing, but I am hoping, for resolution soon. In the meantime I have learned to roll with the punches. My journey has not been average, that's okay, I am a Limited Edition anyway. And still in most ways I am much better than when I started. My High Weight was 365+ on a 5ft8in body, I am now just a skoosh over 200 pounds, haven't been weighed for maybe a week, 214 then, been losing about 3-r pounds a week so maybe 210? In some respects it is what it is, but I try to keep my fluids in, on a pureed diet basically, a lot of soups, broths, protein shakes, that is what my pouch accepts and handles. Had a PICC line for 3 months, was being fed TPN 12 hours a day, have had mutiple endoscopies, I think 13 Lifetime, another scheduled June 12th, have had to have an Iron INFUSION in March, but afterwards I did find renewed energy. What next? Don't know but I am a resilent old chick and I WILL,MAKE IT THROUGH. So I'm here if you need an understanding virtual shoulder to cry on, okay? ?❤?

June 2019 Surgery Siblings!
Some of the flavors are really tasty, some aren't, that's the way many things in life are, I believe I liked the Cream of Mushroom the best. A little watery but remember I was raised on 4%milk and real butter, my aunts. cooked like a threshing crew might be happening by, always enough a stranger could be fed, one Aunt always set a place for Jesus, the fact he never quite showed up didn't deter her.
