It's gas in the abdominable cavity from anesthetic and air they pump in there so they can see around the organs. WALKING and more walking will get rid of it. You also have inflammation from surgery causing pain - take the liquid tylenol and take the pain meds, it will ease up in the next week or two. Exhaustion is from not enough Fluid and nutrition - push liquids every 15 minutes - this also gets easier - try warm liquid like tea and alternate with sf popsicles. Hang in there. GERD medicine varies, it may take trying different brands/amounts to find what works for you - also once swelling goes down this should ease as well.
Be patient, nap, walk, read, be kind to yourself....hang in there

I’m super excited to share that I just crossed over from obese to overweight this morning. Weight loss goal 1 achieved. On to the next goal which is to hit normal range. I’m buying jeans in size 14 and tops in XL and I couldn’t be more pleased! I’m so happy, I just wanted to share. Also, for those of you in a stall, don’t worry. It eventually comes off. I stalled 2 1/2 weeks after surgery for almost 2 weeks (it was a real bummer).

I would never say that you don’t need a good support system. But you are strong enough to start this journey with your own goals and dreams backing you up. My family and the few friends I told were a bit negative at first, but no they were worried. I just had my surgery on 2/13 and I’m doing great and my family has been great! After a while, when they saw how dedicated I was to the program, everything was much better.

For me it only lasts as long as it takes to spit it up. I went back to work after 10 days but could have after maybe 5. Was grateful to have a few more days just to get the eating Rhythm down

Thank you all for your comments! I had my first consult with the dietician and weight center doctor, next step is to see the Surgeon and find out their recommendations. Right now I'm aiming at the bypass.. still very scared, my mother and I are both interested in having WLS at the same time, and we are our greatest support (on top of each having a wonderful supportive husband) but we are both nervous people so both worried about all the what-if's. But I want to get healthy!

I had some intense heart burn type pain for about an hour ... but it goes away- likely just gas from surgery.

Slept for a solid amount of time. Near no pain at all (had laparoscopic bypass), only a bit when sleeping bc i couldn’t sleep on side yet. Movement was fine and back to work easily within a week and that was only to get eating habits in line

Best decision ever— no regrets and nothing too big to worry about at all

Hi all, had my Gastric Bypass yesterday at 8:30 a.m. went really well. No pain except where the drain is (it will be taken out this morning before they release me). The hardest part was them trying to take blood for labs this morning) The best part, a healthier life to look forward to.
Good luck to everyone already recovering this month and all of you that still awaiting your surgery.

I am so glad this helped. I read so many posts before surgery, trying to prepare. A lot of them scared me. I thought based on what I read, this would be so much harder. Thankfully it has gone great so far and I hope my story will bring comfort to those working on making a life changing decision. I thought of the health issues as well. I haven't talked with my team. I have been really good at taking my Vitamins, Protein, and drinking lots of Water. I will probably add a few things throughout the week and contact my doctor if I have any issues.

My husband is the only one that knows. My friend had the surgery and told everyone. Now everyone is a critic and the things they say have had a negative impact on her journey. She is constantly defending her choice. I am telling no one and I will lie because it is none of their business how I lost the weight.

I just had my one week post op appointment and I’m so happy and thankful for this journey. It’s freaking hard and anyone who says otherwise doesn’t know what they’re talking about, but it’s so so so worth it.
I weighed in today at 299. When I was younger, I never thought I’d be so happy for a number that large, but I’ve been solidly in the 300’s for six or seven years now. 299 brings literal tears of gratitude to my eyes.
When I weighed in at 355 in the not so distant past and had a moment where I realized I was closer to 400 than 300, I knew I had to change if I wanted to live a healthy and happy life. I started making changes and made the decision to get weight loss surgery to stop the yo-yo dieting madness.
Fast forward to my pre-op surgical clearance appointment (now three weeks ago), I weighed in at 329. So within three weeks, I have lost THIRTY pounds. My clothes are looser, my step is lighter.
I’m so thankful for this tool and my program. I’ve lost weight before, but always gained it back. For the first time in my adult life, I know I can not only do this, but I can do this for life. 299 feels so freaking good... and I can’t wait to see what 199 feels like!!!

    Congrats! Best decision. Ever.

I didn’t do the unflavored protein- i did the premiere shakes ... and eventually shredded canned chicken (it’s like tuna consistency) and scrambled egg whites , cheese stick and Greek yogurts for protein

Didn’t do compression socks— hospital was really fast!

I was off for less than a week. Had surgery Tuesday, was back to work on Monday - worked from home on Friday. Told my boss I was having surgery. Period. Told my co-workers nothing. I didn't tell my mother or my sister either - and I'm fine with that. My health is my health. When people asked about my diet, I said I was on a physician supervised weight loss plan. Absolutely everything I said was true. My experience has been that people are too judgmental.

Same surgery date and same amount of calories per day.
I have been stalled for almost 30 days. Upped my Protein over the last couple of days and it pushed calories up to about 800-850 a day. Hoping to break the stall.
