  1. Do you still have your tonsilles (sp?)? Maybe you need them out?
  2. After I ate today I had a strange feeling in my chest and my left shoulder started to hurt. Is this an indication of eating too much?
  3. I'm glad I'm not alone Eclipse!! I feel like I can eat like I did prior to surgery, no restriction at all. I don't have to take small bites or chew, chew, chew yet. I'm almost wondering if they even put the band on!!
  4. I don't like this "lapband hell"! I'm 3 weeks post-op and can eat just about anything so far...which I'm not liking. I have a terrible time with will-power! I don't have much! Just out of habit I grabbed a handful of goldfish and ate them. I don't know what I'm going to do between now and my first fill.
  5. I can't stomach many shakes at all. I bought the 3.5 oz. protein viles. They have 45 grams of protein. I have one per day. Half in the morning and half in the afternoon/evening. I mix 1/2 the protein with equal amounts of water. Tastes good.
  6. I'm just about 3 weeks post-op and I started having the back/shoulder/neck pain on the left side again. Is this normal to have it return?
  7. I'll be on the mushie stage next week. But right now I feel as though I could eat anything. I've been living off protein drinks, mashed potato and squash. I know I shouldn't have done this but I had one of those 100 calorie packs of chips ahoy cookies. I can't tell you how good they tasted!!! I was in heaven!!! I'm going through the head hunger at the moment!
  8. I found this recipe in the Kraft magazine. Not sure of the calories/fat because the original recipe calls for regular pudding, crackers and cool whip. I changed it to the low fat. 15 Low-fat graham crackers, broken in half 1 1/2 cups low fat milk 1 pkg Jell-O fat free vanilla instant pudding & pie filling 1 8 oz. fat free cool whip 1 cup chocolate ready-to-spread frosting Arrange 10 of the graham crackers, overlapping slightly in bottom of 8" baking pan. Set aside. Pour milk into large bowl, add dry pudding mix and beat well. Let stand 5 minutes until thickened. Gently stir in whipped topping until blended. Spread haf of the pudding over graham squares in pan. Top with 10 of the graham squares and remaining pudding. Cover with remaining 10 graham squares. Refrigerate at least 3 hours. Spread with chocolate frosting. You could always use chocolate pudding as well. Sounds delicious doesn't it!!
  9. Yikes, I'm getting my appetite back and that makes me nervous! I'm almost 3 weeks post-op and I could eat just about anything! I don't want to gain ALL the weight back I've already lost. I realize I may gain some back but I don't want to start from scratch again. Any thoughts??
  10. What is everyone planning on having to eat for Easter dinner? Is ham a tollerable food?
  11. My post-op is 3 weeks modified liquids, 3 weeks mushies. I'm on my last week of liquids. Modified liquids consists of broth, creamed soups, cottage cheese, yogurt etc., anything that will go through a straw. I did add in some mashed potato and squash. I'm doing fine with both.
  12. When does a PB typically happen, a little while after you have had something to eat that didn't agree with you or right away??
  13. I picked up some tuna, wheat thins and carnation 4pks today as well. I don't know if I can wait until next week to have the tuna...I want it so bad! I might just mix some up and have a little! I need real food. I can't take potato anymore! Pasta and Bread are two of my favorite things as well. Let me know how you make out with them!
  14. I'm having some interesting pains on both of my sides. It's normally if I've been standing for too long. I get sharp pains on both my left and right side. Could it be muscles that are healing?
  15. I had the horrible gas pains!! I had the pain in my back/shoulder and neck. It was PAINFUL!! It took a good week for it to go away. Nothing much helped with my pain other than laying down on my side or back for a few days.
  16. Ronda, Take it from me, the pain does go away!!! I was banded on 3/19 and I was in horrible pain in my back, shoulder and neck. It was all from the gas. It took a good 7 days for all of it to start going away. I was hungry and just wanted food. It was tough getting the Protein shakes down. All I did was cry and whine for days!!! Thank god my husband is so supportive. It will get better! Some people have a low threshold for pain and I was one of them! I thought for sure before the surgery that I would bounce right back and be my normal self but I was sooo wrong! I'm 2 weeks post-op, no back/shoulder/neck pain but my incisions are still a little sore. It takes time for your body to heal and you need to give it all the time it needs. Some people just need more time than others. Please don't give up! You'll get through it! You have a lot of support here! Sherri
  17. I haven't tried the Carnation instant brkfst in the blue box. I'll have to pick me up some! I have tried the individual packets and I don't like those. I don't like the Slim Fast either. I can't wait to see the sample menu. I'm a picky eater so hopefully I'll like something on the list! I have a family Birthday party to go to on May 26th. I'll be 2 months and 1 week post-op by then. We are going to an Italian restaurant in Rockland. I hope I'm able to eat something! I know that many people can't tolerate Pasta. Maybe I can eat a meatball or something or chicken parm?? I'm getting hungry just typing any food items!! I would love to go to one of the get togethers sometime and meet everyone. That would be fun! It's so nice being able to talk to other people who are close by. Well...not so close by for me since I'm in Plymouth! It takes me 2 hours just to drive to Beth Israel!
  18. Ohhh, I love wheat thins!! I have not received the booklet with the sample menus. I'm sure I'll get that next week at my appointment with Kelly. I have a treadmill and many exercise tapes that are collecting dust! They need a good cleaning! Do you drink any other types of protein drinks other than the carnation instant breakfast? I can't stomach many of them!
  19. That's great that you have a friend you can compare notes with and go through the process! Losing 75 lbs. is GREAT! She must be thrilled! I can't wait until I can eat the tuna on crackers..yum! What type of crackers do you eat? I'm so nervous about having one of the PB's. Have you experienced that yet? As far as exercise, I haven't really started yet. I really should start this week with at least walking. I hate exercising but I know it's necessary!! How about yourself? Have you gone to any of the get togethers? I know there was one recently in Braintree.
  20. That's great that you lost 24 lbs...congrats! I thought by now you would already be on regular food not mushies. How long do you have to be on mushies for, is it 3 or 4 weeks? Are you schedule for a fill yet? I called Kelly and told her I needed something more than soup and asked if I could eat mashed potato and she said no problem. So I decided to have a baked potato and I thinned it out a bit. Hopefully that was okay. Since my pre-op diet, I've lost about 20 lbs. I gained a couple back once I started eating mashed potato though. Do you live up in the Boston area? I live in Plymouth.
  21. Hi Kelsy, I had Dr.Jones as my doctor. I'm about one month behind you. How are you doing? I hate this post-op crap, I know it's part of the course but I want to get back to eating normal food.
  22. I had my first baked potato today without the skin. I mushed it up and put some margerine on it. Soon after I had diarrhea. Did anyone have this problem graduating to mushies from liquids?
  23. This modified liquid diet is really getting to me. 2 weeks down and 10 days to go. I'm such a picky eater so that doesn't help. I've been living off Isopure protein drinks, popsicles, applesauce and runny mashed potato. I need some real food and fast! I know you all have been through this. What can I do? I think after the 3 week post-op diet I graduate to mushies but I believe that is another 3 weeks! I don't know if I can survive that stage either!!
  24. I was banded on March 19th at Beth Israel in Boston. I just found out that my family is throwing a 50th birthday party at a restaurant for another family member on May 26th. Do you think I will be able to eat "real food" by then? How long after surgery does the first fill happen?
  25. Can you have a PB before a fill or do they only occur after the first fill?
