Primrose, I'll be here with you on your journey. I will have my RnY in early-mid March, I too have a hiatal hernia which will be repaired. H.H. seem to run in my family, both my late mother and my daughter as well as oodles of cousins. Since I'm not going anywhere feel free to ask me anything, if I don't have the answer somebody on this forum will. We're in this to win this,my little buddy!

Tomkitten last month had a colonoscopy, bowel prep made him go 18 times. Among the clear liquid suggestions was lemon or lime Jello, all that pooping and when he got his pictures back, yeah they give you sheet with color pictures of your innards. At any rate in 1 there was still a small puddle of lime jello showing. He's going Whattt? Turns out all he's got is a small amount of internal hemmoroids, told him he should be grateful he' d never be pregnant and pop them suckers out.

kakatlady612 got a reaction from FluffyChix in Who did you tell? Choosing your support carefully...
My main support is my son the TomKITTEN, he is incredibly supportive and proud of Me for making it thus far. I'm widowed, my late husband would not have been which is another reason I never had it at a younger age plus I was resigned, there was no hope and that gradually everything would break down until I died. Another cheerleader: my PCP, yeah when I approached him about it he said it would be a GOOD thing, gave me advice about where would the best program would be, I'm going to Columbus 50 miles away, every time I see him he wants an update. I tell most people if they ask but try not to bore the average man on the street. Finally told my daughter, we're not too close by her choice, did it matter to her, not especially, she is a self-centered 49 year old brat. Not my fault, her 2 grandmothers competed and spoiled her. Now she is not happy God doesn't ask her permission for the sun to come up each day. Down deep I do still love her, she was after all my first born and the only child for 7 years until her siblings came along. When I told her she just turned the subject back to herself, Well if anything bad happens to me and, mind you I don't expect it to,, she can go around and tell people it was all my fault. Sorry folks, it's rough to love someone and not like them. But as I get closer and closer to surgery time I'm not scared, I only pray my surgeon won't back out at the last minute. I'm having a RnY for multiple reasons and firmly believe it will be the tool to effect a change in my life. I love meeting all of you here on Bariatric Pal and hope to pay it forward for others. Your friend in Central Ohio. ME

@ Jersey Jules and @ Kristin pasley you both are phenomenal. I am so inspired by both of you. I've even overweight for years and do carry tummy weight so high likelihood I'll have a panni, but you know what? better a panni and alive then lying in a casket cause my weight done me in. Maybe 6 weeks until my RnY so then I'll have my tool for change. Wish me well folks.

Thank you Rainbow Warrior for your return post. I truly value yours, you were one of the first I read and you've always been spot on. I think the thing was: they looked at my plump exterior and made no effort to get to know me inside. I could be more forgiving if it hadn't been a concerted effort on their part. The best I got from one of them " Ah she's little pretty in the face" like the rest of my body was a pile of refuse. I used to try to please everybody and sublimated my,own worth in the process. I'm finally making a firm commitment to health and a future for myself. I value your further consul on this journey I've undertaken. Its winter here but enjoy a beautiful Summer day in Australia.

Since the original post etc went bye bye let me give you one from my own life
Late Husband: You don't appreciate having,a good man.
Me: I would if I had one, I just know I would.
He liked to belittle me for my size and he was 3 inches taller and 35 lbs heavier , only ,thing small about him was his mind. But he firmly seemed to believe he was 185 lb like he was in high school. Sad isn't it, he came from a long line of chubby-haters, cut them out of my life after he died. Life is too short to spend mine being treated that way, took it for too long as it was. I'm a fine human being, truth is I've always been eligible for Mensa so why let them treat me like I'm the village simpleton? Thanks everybody for letting me rage, I feel MUCH better.

Many say it's like having done a few too many situps, most say the tenderness doesn't last all that long. Follow your d
octor's advice, get up soon after your surgery is over and walk often, that way you get rid of the gas sooner. I'm sure the veterans will be weighing, with advice also, I know I value all their stories too.

You're totally normal, even if you've come to terms with your upcoming surgery your inner heart is a little scared for the unknown. I put on a big brave front for my own upcoming surgery in about 6 weeks but deep inside this cowgirl gets the blues. We are, making a big change in our lives, but we are going to be So Much Better Off and much healthier. We can do this, my friend.

Can I join in? I'm still at the other end of the spectrum. I'm 325, still pre surgical, down from a high of 355 at 5'9", know I will have to get a pre surge picture taken but I still have a dysmorphic loathing. You girls at 150- 175, you're where i want to be. Yeah my dream is only ,to be a 16. You give,me hope maybe,i will get smaller but I just can't see it at 72. My plus-sized retailer you're wrong, Wal-Mart just sizing 0W which is a 14. Yeah I used to work at WallyWorld, they run
0X(14), 1X(16)2X(18-20)3X(22-24)4X(26-28)and5X(30-32) my store seldom gets in 5X when they do I buy them to have something loose to sleep in. I'm currently in 3x tops and 4x pants, probably could wear 3x,pants but I don't like my ladybits crunched. My surgery should be early-mid March, a RnY, 1 I need it

for the weight loss 2 I have pretty bad GERD 3 I am just so grateful I have a surgeon who's still willing to undertake me, a lot of Bariatric Surgeons won't do anyone over 60. I am lucky all I have low cholesterol,, no diabetes, no heart disease, although I have sleep apnea my pulmonologist cleared me and so did the psychological exam. I am in it to win it, I'm sure even when the weight starts coming off I'll still sense I'm a fat girl but all of you give me the hope to persevere. The place I seem to have lost that excess 30 pounds was across my tailbone, it suddenly hurts to sit too long. Curious isn't it. Anyway please keep posting- you are the light at the end of my tunnel. Thank You

The wrists are what freak me out the most, I think. Wrists. Collarbones. Being able to feel my hip bones (and ribs, even, when I lie down!) My body feels so alien, sometimes.
Other times I just grab the excess skin on my belly and that feels more familiar/natural. xD

You know@brown- eyed girl I am not that worried about post surgery pain, i already have a fair amount dragging around this tired old body, that pain will be for a reason and it won't last forever. And I'll be so much healthier and thinner afterwards. I get excited and hardly can wait for you it to happen.

@BlingQueen that is really rough, I have scoliosis myself but not to the extent you do. I think the preceeding advice is good, if your current surgeon is not at a Center of Excellence Hospital I would consult someone there. I am lucky all 3 in Columbus, my state capital, are. Go with the open procedure if necessary, sure it takes a longer to heal from an abdominal wound but@biddynz who's still active reminded all of us you don't have the horrid gas and after a,month or so had returned to her job. Am going to,pay all still goes well and you recover well from both surgeries.

kakatlady612 reacted to Trixie in Inspire Protein Powder
I've had good luck finding tasty Protein powders from the BariatricEating.com website, but their stuff is darn pricey! But, their Inspire protein powders taste good to me (especially the caramel latte and Peanut Butter cookie), have 20 g of protein and only 1 g of carbs per serving, which makes them perfect for the pre-op low carb diet.
Does anyone know of anyplace else to find the Inspire brand? They look like they may be "house" brands at BariatricEating.com, but if that is the case, I wonder if there is a comparable brand that has the same good stuff for a better price. Anyone have suggestions?
