I am now at 1 year 5 months after my Gastric Bypass. This journey wasn't easy but I have been at my goal weight 150lbs now for over 5 months (highest weight 287). I'm getting insurance approval for my panniculectomy and breast reconstruction. Then my journey will be complete. I feel amazing!! Still experimenting with most foods and never afraid to try new foods all the time. Posted are my before & after pics. Insurance DOES pay for Panniculetomy & reconstruction breast LIFT (not augmentation) so I am very happy about that!! I didn't read or follow all the diets online. I knew my body and paid attention to how i felt and made my own diets. First 4 months after surgery Yoplait greek 100 Protein yogurt was my best friend and I still eat 3 a day! they are so smooth not gritty like other greek yogurts. I eat everything from Steak to pizza. (just very small amounts chewed VERY well) I have not gained any weight back and am looking forward to my plastic surgery so I can look as good on the outside as I feel on the inside. IF anyone is scared or have any questions about anything feel free to e-mail me sjohnson4021 at yahoo.com

I’m so happy and relieved, saw the psychologist on Friday and I passed!! I was so nervous and didn’t know what to expect but once I met her I was fine. She made me feel comfortable. So, things are moving along for me. I see the nutritionist on may 9th. Has anyone heard of H-pylori? Apparently I tested positive for that. Sucks! I’ve been on antibiotics for it and I have to test again through the stool. Not looking forward to that part. I was hoping everything would go smooth but I’m guessing this might slow down my surgery date. I’m so ready to have surgery. I hate waiting. I’m an impatient person. Anyway, hoping to get a surgery date soon.

I started at 257lbs, I now weigh 213lbs. The weight is coming off slower now. It was really exciting to try new clothes on. I was a size 24 and when I went to the store, I grabbed a bunch of size 18's to try on, they were all to big. Friends and family or noticing. My confidence has really increased. The changes are very motivating.

So I made pizza for dinner and sadly couldn’t eat much (yay!).
It is a turkey fest! 1 slice of turkey bacon, 6 slices of turkey pepperoni and 1.5 ounces of ground turkey. 1.5 ounces of cheese, 2 tablespoons of sauce, few mushrooms on a cauliflower crust. 4-5 servings.
    Protein goals met! Yep!

I did the samething you are doing, researched like crazy. Then my brother, whom is a surgical nurse, had the sleeve done. It was a breeze for him. I had SIPS. We both had our surgeries in 2015. He is now gaining again. I am steady at 148-150lbs. Zero weight gain. I have no regrets! In fact, I wish I had it earlier. Feel great. Have any questions, just ask.

Hey Glamgirl! This is my first post since surgery on April 18th and I feel like I got run over by a truck. I hope that's normal! I'm exhausted and getting enough liquids is a challenge for sure, especially since I have the dreaded "D" (diarrhea). I'm so glad to hear that you are doing well! I keep telling myself it will get better!!

Thank you all so very much for your replies. The support, tips & advice are so very much appreciated... Whilst the struggles are real, I no longer feel as alone [emoji173]️

I’ll keep struggling through though with hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
@FluffyChix - thank you for pointing out the differences in Protein. Yes, the powder is missing one particular amino acid, so I have just ordered a whey based protein to supplement with also.

On the plus side of all of this is that I am down 18.1kgs since pre-op & about 8 of those have been since surgery!

Thank you all again & thank you for being so welcoming into this community.

26.4 lost is great! look at the difference in your neck and shoulders and arms. Black clothing is camouflaging my ability to see the rest. lol. * No need to use that statement to take naked pictures*
I have "only worked hard for each pound lost" My body is "only getting healthier by the day" The scale is "only moving down to prove my weight loss is reality " Your hard work and it's paying off.

I generally have a Protein Shake in the morning, and two small meals during the day. On days I'm traveling for work I'll often have only 1 meal. I don't usually snack. But this week I have been struggling with head hunger, so I've had more Snacks than usual.

hi there! I just had the duodenal switch 2 1/2 weeks ago. my surgeon told me this was the best operation for me and that is the most successful one. He says I will be in a size 6 before I know it!
So far I have had no complications, I am losing about 1- 2 lbs a day . I am feeling better now. First week was rough. I still cant lift anything or do anything strenuous yet. Good luck to you in whatever decision you make! If you have any questions on the duodenal switch ask me anytime!

Glamgirl got a reaction from Diva302 in DS after VSG
hello Diva302, I had pains the first week. just very hard to get up , but I walk as much as I could . No drains. the laparoscopic incisions were vey small and practically are gone now I am on puree foods but not hungry at all. I go to soft food class tomorrow and see what else I can eat. The liquids sucked but it was all part of it to deal with. Not only did I have the Duodenal switch but I had my gall bladder removed and a hiatal hernia repaired. so three operations were done that day and that could be why I am was extra sore.
You will do fine! Its all worth it!!! I wish for you a speedy recovery! let me know if you have any more questions

My goals set on MFP are:
    550 cals per day
    Protein: 55% (75g)
    Fat: 30% (18g)
    Carbs: 15% (20g)
I currently weigh and measure. I put a 1/2c measuring cup on the scale and weigh/tare everything into it until it's full. When the 1/2c is full, nothing else goes in. I start with Protein and depending how hungry I am for veggies, I add 1.5-2oz of protein pieces into the cup. Then goes veg. Then if anything is leftover I add 1/3oz avocado and 1/3oz grape tomatoes.

Just take is slow. Your healing and your body is adjusting. It’s normal to not be able to get it all in this early. Sounds like your doing well.

liquids are so hard to get to my goal! still sore but all is ok. All the surgery weight I gained(12 lbs) is gone! Yay!!! I was so worried about that. But I’m losing and that’s all that matters! The 64 oz of Water is tough to get in and so is 80-100 of liquid protein! How are others doing it?[emoji31]🤪
