    DS statistics

best thing I've ever done.... lost a lot at the beginning and now losing slowly, never regained and its been 15 months since surgery
  5. My DS surgery was april of 2018 with Dr. Bruce at Bariatrics of NC . All has been good, but then I rate having stomach pains really bad that lasted a long time when it happened just two months ago. It has only happened about 3-4 times, so naturally I went back to my surgeon and spoke to him about it. I thought maybe I was dehydrated , but he said NOPE, you have an internal hernia going on... and that I would need surgery as soon as I can make the appointment. Sooner than later he stressed! He could not do the surgery which disappointed me but he referred me to Dr. Lindsay Sharpe. So 1 week later I made an appointment which I had surgery done with Dr. Sharpe just yesterday 6/17/19 lasted about an hour. It started out as a diagnostic lap surgery to see exactly what was going on , and indeed it was the hernia that they found. They fixed it and I went home today and I feel a lot of pain but otherwise I just have to rest and no lifting for 3 weeks and no exercise for 6 weeks. They said because of the weight loss that it opened up a gap around my intestines causing blockage and this happened. Not sure on all details until my follow up next Tuesday but once I know ALL the details , I will post on here. Its funny now when you have surgery , you don't see the surgeon afterwards... you have to wait until follow up appointment to really get full details. his Medical assistant filled me in but not totally, so I am kinda in limbo on details. I cant wait for Tuesday to find out what he did exactly ! Has anyone had this happen to them after DS surgery?
  6. Oh I told my surgeon to do it all together! it needed to come out anyway
  7. yes I had one of those too... but they took care of that at the same time of my DS surgery and they also removed my gall bladder too then! So all three operations were done at same time! Fun! 😕 im just hoping no more!! I still have about 20-25 pounds more to lose so i hope that doesn't create any problems.
  8. thank you and yes I hope this surgery helps... hoping i dont get anymore hernias... is that common too? like more than one?
  9. oh you will... just rest and the healing will happen! Wishing you well! I love Dr. Bruce!
  10. Oh wow! I hope you recovery fast! That is a lot that you have been through! I bet you wish they could have done it all in one surgery? I wonder why he didn't take the colon out in april and the intestine ... did the internal hernia cause the intestine and colon problems? I was told that it could happen to my intestines. meaning they could get strangled and lose blood supply and die. 😕
  11. good luck I am sure you are excited! What doctor is doing your surgery?! I had Dr Bruce do my DS in April 2018 he was great! I jut got out of surgery yesterday though for a internal hernia related to my DS surgery and all the weight loss...but all is good now.. Dr. Sharpe operated on me yesterday.

  16. Looking to start support group meetings in The central north Carolina areas. Anyone know of any? I am in Davidson County. I would love to start one where we could meet once a week or even just twice a month. If there meetings out there feel free to share! I would love to attend. This forum is nice but its always better to meet in person and talk about our experiences through this journey !

Sneezing and Other Weird Signs Your Pouch is Full

same here i get a runny nose or when i start to I have already stopped eating .
  18. depending on how far everyone is... I'm in Davidson county but I dont mind driving to another county either.
  19. I am 9 months post op.. so far so good... lost a lot of weight so far and I feel great... still working on seeing my surgeon for the follow up so he can evaluate my first set of blood work tests. My primary gave me an iron prescription plus told me to take added vitamin A. Anyway, I eat what I want , and definitely in small amounts. The only exercise I get is walking but I really need to start weight training to build up some muscle for my slightly flabby skin. Its not really bad but bad enough to where I would like tone up before thinking of surgery . My surgeon said don't do surgery until 18 months after weight loss surgery... Which means I still have another 9 months to go IF I decide to go that route. Anyone have any good toning exercises with weights that I can do for my arms and legs ? Also any good butt exercises out there? Id like to tone it up a little too. Ive googled a few things but nothing really shows me from a weight loss patient perspective on what good exercises to do for toning up flabby bodies. They really need something like that on the web! A go to list for weight loss patients! I hope I didn't wait too long to start? Thats what I am afraid of. These past 9 months have just been busy and the weight has been coming off all on its on so I haven't started a major exercise routine although I am always active in walking. Lots of walking. Also I live in North Carolina... I thought about starting up a support group and meeting once a week or twice a month. Anyone interested? I live in central Carolina. I would really even like to attend a support group if there are any out there on this side of the town ? Please any thoughts or suggests for me?

Time it takes to eat food

ughh i always have to watch myself with that... its a constant struggle... i mean 30 minutes is very slow to eat such a small meal. I do it though because If I eat too fast then I vomit it back up and then I don't want to eat at all. And to note I am 9 months post op!
