about PB
Hi there. I'm sort of new here now. I'm definately reading all the threads to learn as much as I can. I'm having my PCP visit tomorrow with all my "papers" from LA Weightloss for the past year. I am pretty confident that they will be OK with my PCP since he encouraged me to go there. So I will have filled my 6 month requirement. As far as the PB thing. I kinda understand what it is, but does it just happen all of a sudden. Like your at a dinner table and you spew all over the table? Do you have warning that it will happen? Can someone fill me in on exactly what happens.. do you eat to much? to fast? don't chew? all of the above? You guys rock! What a great support system! Thanks! Molly

just starting the process
Hi there! I'm off to the PCP tomorrow with all my "notes" from LA Weightloss over the past year, and my medical "sheets" for the PCP to fill out. I sure hope that he does! Since he encouraged me to go there. Now,, for my question.. When you PB. is it something that just happens, like at the dinner table, or in front of people? Can you control it a bit like vomiting when your sick? You know it's coming so you make for the bathroom? This is just the coolest site! I love readinng all the threads and the experiences. It has definately made me feel better about the process. Although I'm still scared Molly and I still have not gotten all the cool stuff on here!

Just getting started!
Hi gl. I'm just getting started too. I'm having my first visit with my PCP tomorrow. I've done the seminar, and my insurance will cover the surgery with 6 months of physician approved weight loss. I did LA weight loss for the past year (i still have "paid for weeks" that I'm using). I just hope that counts.!

Stupid people and their stupid opinions
I'm sorry that you'r having this trouble. Tell Mom and Hubby they aren't helping. I have chosen to only have my husband and 2 close friends/co-workers know. As far as when I have my surgery.. I'm just planning on saying I'm having some outpatient procedure done and be very vague. I just don't want to go thru what you have having to go thru. It's bad enough being fat and having to go thru all that stuff. Gl to you. I hope to read your journey in the POST op stuff now. Molly

Bama.. maybe your weight watchers will count if you've been in the last year or two. My insurance said it had to have been in the last one to two years.

just starting the process
The Dr. office faxed my these forms that my PCP has to fill out for each of 6 months. I am having LA type up a letter with each month's starting and ending weight. I did lose 20 pounds with them, but starting gaining, got discouraged and quit trying. Of course I have gained it all back. I'm sure hoping that the insurance will count that. I'm actually still going to LA.. I have 45 more paid for weeks, so I am using them to start back losing a little, and as a counseling service as such. I sure hope that at least that will count to the 6 months. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

On my way!
Hi Barbie! I'm also new to all this. I'm getting my paperwork together and see my PCP on Friday for him to do his paperwork. I also have been very hesitant about talking to anyone about my decision. My husband is very supportative, and went to the seminar with me. I have two friends/co-workers I told, but other than that I've not said anything. I don't want co-workers talking about me (a bit of pride issue there) and I don't want any negative discussion about my decision. I don't want to have to defend myself. Good luck to you in the process. I'm sure we'll run across each other here. I'm in Nashville. Molly

Thinking about it, don't know much yet
Hi LaRay. I am starting the process too, and also want to loose about 100 pounds. I just happened upon this site, and I'm so glad that I did! I have learned more here than anywhere. I went to a seminar given by the Dr last week, and found out yesterday that my insurance would cover me. I'm really new here, but I've been reading all the different responses and qusetions and have learned so much! I really think being here made my mind up. Good luck to you Molly

Hello you everyone newbie!
Goodl luck to you. I'm also starting the process. I have an appointment with my PCP on Friday so he can fax all my "stuff" to the lapband dr. I'm having all kinds of anxiety, I'll be excited and ready, then I get nervous.

It depends on your insurance. I was going to have to do the 6 months, but had already done the LA thing. Thank goodness because I'm ready to do this now. I'm scared to death, but I know that I need this as a tool to get back into good health.

Cpap Machine and cough? Need advice
Use Afrin and keep trying. I only have the half mask, but I used to throw it off after a couple of hours. Now i put it on without a thought. One of my goals though is to be rid of the dang thing. No more airport security things, plus all the other things. It is one of many reasons I'm doing this.

Starting the process, looking for support
Hi there! I'm new to the process too. I just found out that it will be covered. I have already done the 6 month weight loss program (I didn't know at the time that I would go this route) so I'm getting my paperwork and going to my PC on Friday. Good luck to you, and I'll look for your postings Molly

just starting the process
Hi there. First I have to say this site is what finally made me OK with the thought of doing the lap band. Thanks to everyone that I have read! I got the call from the dr and my insurance will cover me. I have already done the 6 months weightloss (I tried LA weightloss for a year) so I'm off to see my PCP, get his stamp and ready to start the process. Any words of wisdom? How do you get the ticker factory stuff to show up on your site? If I'm gonna do this I want all the bells and whistles! I'm in Nashville Tennessee and I'll be going to baptist hospital if there are any fellow nashvillians out there. Thanks again for just being here!

Hi. newbie from tennessee
Thanks. I have to say that at the seminar I told one of the nurses about the site. She didn't know about it, and was banded herself. If I may ask. how do you get the "stuff" like the weight loss thing and the stuff where you can record the dates? For some reason I'm feeling that this is important to me to check things off.

Hi. newbie from tennessee
Hi everyone. I just went thru a new patient seminar last night. Thank goodness I found this site before I went there. I'm more confident of my decision from what I've read here than from the Dr. talking last night. I'm still scared and very, very nervous about all this. I will find out on Monday about my insurance and all that. I've been doing LA weight loss and curves in the past year, so I'm hoping that will count to any 6 month thing I might want to do. This site is a hugh blessing to me. To know that I'm not the only one scared and freaking out is hugh. It has also shown me how in control my food addiction is. A real eye opener to me. I'm glad that I can come here and have real people answer all the questions I have or the things I'm going thru. Molly in tennessee:scared2:

Hi there! I'm just new here. Thank goodness I happened on this site! I'm absolutely scared to death and this really helped. I'm going for my new patient seminar tomorrow.. I've tried everything and have to finally admit I'm a hugh food addict..(i have to acknowledge that is a large part of my fear.. that I can't eat). I also know that I have to do this to make myself healthy. some questions.. how do you get all the stuff like the weight loss thing and the check list of the things you have done. I really need some help along the way for sure. I feel this is a place to get it. Molly:scared2:

This is my first entery here. I go in for my new patient seminar tomorrow. I'm really nervous and scared, but at the same time I have to do this. I don't want to be sick later in my life, and I'm starting to have things happen... like sleep apnea. It has really helped to read the enteries from this site. I can't believe I happened on to it. I have realized the extent of my addiction to food just by the fear of not being able to "eat". I have done what everyone else here has done. I've done the diet pills.. the weight watchers, and the last was LA Weightloss. I lost 20 pounds, they changed my diet around and I started gaining. I got frustrated and quit. I'm still very fearful, but reading all the other enteries has been so helpful... yep.. that's me right now! Molly in tennessee
