Dec 19 band date
I was banded on the 17th and feel pretty good. I've eaten a bit, I'm not too hungry, so I've been supplementing with slim fast just to get the protein in. I'm on soft food now, and the Magic Bullet is just great for getting things soft. Egg salad never tasted so good! I went out yesterday to do some grocery shopping and such, and did a bit too much, but I'm doing well. Glad everyone is having good experiences!

What was the first thing you ate?
I purchased a Magic Bullet, and I had egg salad and some pimento cheese (just about a bite). I would recommend the Magic Bullet to anyone, It really processess things down as smooth as you want them. I had surgery on Wednesday, today I had some scrambled eggs. I'm still using the slim fast for my protein requirements. I'm not hungry at all. I'm going to do some chicken salad and tuna salad next. Food sure does taste good! I'm a bit scared of eating, so I'm not eating very much right now.

HELP! I'm starving already...It's in my head, right?
Hi there! I'm on my 2nd week of pre-op diet, on the liquids only. I'm on day 3 of it. My surgery date is the 17th. It's been hard, but I have found that I have to drink the shakes BEFORE I get hungry or I get nutty. This week has really made me aware of my food addiction. Honestly, my stomach isn't growling, and I almost have the same feelings of anxiety that I had when I quit smoking 12 years ago. It's crazy! I really can't wait until Dec 22 and I can have something mushy!!! Funny how your preceptions change, chicken salad in the magic bullet is sounding soooo good! By the way, I also ate my house in "mourning" for the food I would be missing. Good luck to you! PS. Hubby is on frozen dinners this week.. I ain't cooking! Kids are grown and gone, so I don't have to worry about that

Any December '08 Bandsters?
Jamtte you go! going on liquids AND quitting smoking! If you can stop the cigs you can do anything! I remember quitting smoking and it was the hardest thing I've ever done. although I'm one day away from the start of my liquid part. I have 1 week of liquids + a lean cusine at night then 1 week of liquids. I dread it! I'm sending you all the positive vibes I can muster from Nashville! I made need them back in a few days!

Do you tell... or keep it a secret?
I was all about "not telling". I didn't want any negative feedback about just "cutting back and excercise". I finally realized 1. my family deserved to know I was having surgery. I would be very mad if they didn't tell me they were having surgery. and 2. my co-workers and friends were going to find out when I started losing weight. my co-workers (all women) had already started questioning my frequent dr. appts., and I just didnt want the speculation. EVERYONE has been super supportative and i have a hugh cheering section now. Each person is different, with different friends and family. I just didn't want alot of discussion so I waited until this week to tell everyone. Good luck to you what ever you decide. Remember this is about you.

Seriously Considering Lap Band...help?
The seminar will answer alot of your questions, but with my insurance you had to have a problem (sleep apnea, diabetic, high BP) and a BMI of 35 or greater. A BMI of 40 put you on in. FYI, my insurance made me do a 6 month "physician recommended" diet (even though I had been on LA Weightloss for 8 months!) I had to go every month. My insurance DID NOT make me lose 10% of my weight thank goodness! I have been at this since March and just got approved and scheduled. You do have to be dedicated to it! My insurance is paying for this (except 10%) Good luck to you!

Pre-Op Diet
My per-op starts Dec 3rd. 1st week i get 2 protein drinks a day and a lean cusine (300 cal. or less). then the 2nd week I go to 4 drinks a day. All the SF popsicles, jello and broth I want for the 2 week period. Its very interesting how the diets vary! I'm not looking forward to it at all.

Any December '08 Bandsters?
Hi Johnny, Good luck to you! My advice to you is to not patiently wait for your insurance company. They may try to put you off to save money (they'll save 10% by putting you off til Jan). If you aren't getting answers, call, call, call! My insurance was suppose to have an answer within 30 days and it was 6 weeks! The last 2 weeks I called every day. Again good luck to you!

Dec 19 band date
Hi there! I go in 2 days before you! I'm scheduled for December 17th! I'm also excited, scared, nervous, but mostly ready to do this! I'm like everyone else, been on every diet known ect. Like everyone else, this has been a very serious decision. I'm very, very happy to join the December group! Molly

Finally!! Approved and Scheduled
Whew! Finally my 9 month journey is coming to an end! I started researching lap band about a year ago after yet another failed attempt at weight loss (and about 1200.00) with yet another weight loss center. I quickly found this site and read, read, read. What a great place this is! I had to go thru a 6 month "physicial approved" diet, which was in my opinion stupid because I had been weighed 3 times a week for 8 months..anyway. I finally got approved this last Wednesday, met with my Dr. on Friday and am scheduled for December 17! I'm very happy, nervous, scared, and ready to get this show on the road! Whoohooo! to all the December bandsters! Can we keep in touch? Molly

Hi from Tennessee!

Strange reactions about surgery
For the first time in my life I'm NOT opening my mouth and telling everyone my business! I'm very afraid of the reactions, and don't want to have to defend myself. I'm nervous enough without everyone elses opinion. Good luck to you. Molly

1st Day of Pre-Op Diet
Good luck! I wish I was that far along in the process!

New to Site
Hi there! I'm starting my 3rd month of physician weight loss. LA Weightloss taught me about keeping a journal, and it really helps. I haven't lost any weight, but I haven't gained any!! I'm picking up my excercise, and hope that will help! Good luck! molly

Newbie
hey Anitamc! I'm from the Hendersonville area! I'm approved for the surgery, but have to jump thru the insurance hoops. I'm on my second month of the physician approved diet. (no my year of LA weight loss didn't count). I'm going to Baptist for my surgery hopefully the first of december. I have found this is a great place for support and information. Lots of great people being really honest. Molly

Marking time
Sil. That was a good question because I thought they would kinda guide me thru what I needed to do, and they didn't. They gave me the number and I had to make my own appointment. I thought they would call me and tell me what I needed to do. Keep track of all your stuff and ask questions. I missed out on about 2 months waiting on phone calls.

Marking time
thanks for the replys. I really like this site for all the support you get. I have been a Water drinker for years.. It's all I drink. I can't stand the taste of all the artificial sweeterers and even splenda is awful to me, so I try to stay away from them. I have had to break down and start getting used to stuff like the lite yogurt..(yoplait key lime pie... yummy), and sugar free popsicles (if you eat them fast). I'm just kinda over it all right now. I went back to LA yesterday and got a new book and a pep talk, I'm trying! Molly

Marking time
Hi there! Well.. here I am just marking time and doing my 6 months. I go for my second month 'weigh in" thursday. I'm down about 2 pounds (sigh). I just can't seem to motivate myself to anothe "diet". I did LA Weightloss for a year.. lost 20 pounds the first 6 months, and just started struggling again. I'm sooooo tired of it. I'm trying to get motivated again. Anyone out there looking at a November/December band date? Molly

Teenagers are cruel (When they want to be)
I work in mainly middle schools. I'm a dental hygienist, and I put dental sealants on kids teeth (with parents permission). I work in urban settings, and kids are just nasty. There are good ones in the mix, but after the first middle school I was in I came home and told my hubbby that in 5+years we were all gonna die! When these little so-and so's get out of school (flunk out) and find out that we are no longer going to spoon feed them, and that they will have to (gasp) work! It really is scary. I wish I had a cam-corder to record what I see on a daily basis. God bless all of you out there that teach! And bless you for what you do too. Just think that next year you'll be in so much better health! That's what keeps me going now. Molly

I might have sleep apenea?
I did a sleep study about 2 years ago. I actually fell asleep driving home from work. Lucky I woke up and didn't hit anyone. I have a family history of apnea, and my dad and uncle have heart damage because of all the years without treatment. I'm also 100 pounds overweight (as are most of my dad's family). I have a love/hate realtionship with the CPAP. I love that I can sleep, and actually crave putting the thing on. I'm asleep within 3 minutes. I hate that I do have marks on my face in the AM, but I'm up early enough that they are gone before I leave the house. I hate that I feel like darth vader in front of my husband (he has NEVER said a word), and I really hate airplane travel with it.. But I LOVE that I sleep better, and love that I'm saving my body from all the undue stress. Go get tested. Just like the band.. this is for your health Molly

Eating And More Eating
Hi Gigim.. OMG did I eat! I mourned the loss of all the "food I couldn't eat again". At first I actually decided against this because of not being able to eat certain foods... (is this called addiction or what????). I ate myself into about 7 pounds more, and now I'm getting that back off. I'm re-adjusting my mindset, and back on schedule with what I want and need. Food is suppose to be to nourish your body. That's it. We (I)have made it something else all together. Your body needs food for fuel.. Good luck to you.. remember this is to make you healthy again. Molly... PS quit eating!!!lol

Considering a lap band
Hi Flutestar. This is a great place to get tons of information. I think most of us are here because of our hugh eating problems. Me included. One thing that I have really had to face is my food addiction. Once I started on this journey it just smacked me in the face. The main thing I'm getting from all this is that LapBand is not an easy out.. It is surgery, it is a hugh commitment, and it takes alot of work. You just don't have surgery and boom.. your skinny again. Good luck to you. Keep reading here, do your homework and research, and you'll make the decision that's right for you Molly
