My surgeon said you would have to repeatedly overeat to stretch your pouch. One time shouldn't be a big deal.

Please don't assume there is nothing in your system to get out. Those were my same thoughts and I ended up in the ER at 1.5 weeks pre-op. The worst experience I have ever had.

jennypenny1998 reacted to DianeJarrett in Best ways to get past a stall?
2 words - Water and shock! It's a great way to kick-start your body during a stall.
First thing, eat. Don't diet. Gain a pound. Eat things you don't normally eat. Don't be afraid to eat something off your diet plan. Don't follow your plan. Skip the Protein for a day. Don't drink as much Fluid. Gain a water pound. Your body stalls because it gets into a pattern. Get it out of the pattern. Shock your body.
Then, go back on your meal plan and drink water. More than usual. Water only, lay off other fluids and any artificial sweeteners. Do that for two days. Your body will not only lose the water weight gain but be shocked back into the normal weight loss pattern.
Great advice from my nutritionist but it worked like a charm. It's a marathon, not a sprint, and your body can't be constantly in a weight loss mode if it becomes too complacent. It needs some change from time to time.
Good luck! And don't worry about stalls. They are natural. Everyone here has experienced them, myself included and the advice I got from these good people really helped. I wish you all the best! You're doing great!

Hey there, congrats on being on the other side. My surgeon said no more juice forevs. But you're in luck. Go order the Synthrax nectar grapefruit flavored Protein Powder. I swear it's as close to a "morning glass" of grapefruit juice you will experience! It's really delicious--one of my favorite flavors. And the good news is, it's almost or is zero carb/zero sugars + packs a Protein wallop.

I have had this since day 10 of surgery (sleeved 10/2). Everything (sometines even water) causes clear mucus like slime to come up. Mine happens with stomach spasms. Having major intake problems.
How do we get this to go away?????

I've had a few episodes of this if I've eaten too much or too fast. It starts with nausea.... you feel like you're going to throw up, but no food comes up, just copious amounts of thick, clear slime. It's very weird.

Congratulations-You look great! I keep stalking also and the dr. told me that since I don't have 100's of lbs to lose- my loss will be slow. I feel like the inches are coming off b/c I'm working out.
Have you tried other shakes? Premier, jay robb? Nugo slim bars are also great for Protein and Fiber. Do you go to local support groups? We just had a meeting at the one I go to and they targeted food choices.
    Hang in there!

Thanks so much for the advice and encouragement.....I should try to take in more Protein because I know I only get in about half of what I need since I stopped drinking the shakes post op...they just taste so bad now.

Natural progesterone does wonders. You font need,a script and it can be purchased at a Vitamin Shoppe or online at Amazon. Look it up. It's great for peri menopause and post menopause. It literally saved my life. I have been taking it for 15 yrs.
I only use emerita natural progesterone. You can go to their site for info. Www.emerita.com don't expect your gyno to be onboard. It requires no prescription and they will poo poo it because it naturally benefits your body in so many ways. I swear by it. Go online and do your research. [emoji4]

    1 month after surgery:
Boss: I don't understand why we can't just make things work on this project.
Me: I don't understand why you can't get what I'm saying through your fuckin' head.
Boss: I don't need to put up with this from you, and he walked away.
Me, Loud enough for all to hear: Bye Felicia!
Spent 2 months in the doghouse for that one.

jennypenny1998 reacted to Pam_2-06-2017 in How long did it take you to lose 80lbs?
7 months post op and down 48 pounds. I see others lose much more. So many factors that influence rate of loss. I learned I'm a much slower loser but I'm also not a fanatic to every morsel I eat. I started out a fanatic when I was healing. Now I am losing at a much slower rate but still going down. I had 80 pounds to lose and am more than halfway there. 32 pounds don't seem so far away now but at the beginning it seemed like a lot. My next check up at a year out is in February. My doctor has a goal of 11 pounds from now until then. That almost seems like a drop in the bucket and I will surely meet that.
This is not a marathon but a long slow sprint. Your body, skin and future success depend on it.

I talked to my therapist today. He apologized and now he is going to call my insurance company and clarify. He was really bothered that he caused the denial. I am also getting a non biased psych evaluation from someone who actually specializes in those types of evaluations just in case.

    Best wishes!

That's an awful lot of power to give a therapist. I would be livid. There are plenty of other sources of support, like local groups and online.

Have you had a good fall of the wagon struggle after your surgery? I’m two and a half years out. Best shape of my life. I go to the gym 5 days a week- cardio and weights. I recently had plastics done too. My problem right now is giving into my temptations everyday. It’s been so bad lately. Today I ate like 2 king size candy bars and a piece of cake. It’s like I’ve lost control over my eating again.

I think many of us felt the same way. After your first year you will look back at this post and realize how fast the weight has come off. Be gentle with yourself and trust the process. PLEASE take advantage of your first golden year. It's your best restriction after surgery and the fastest part of your weight loss. You can lose weight after that year but it slows down for many of us. You are going to get to your other stages with food. Let your tummy heal. You are going to feel much better when you are eating real food again.
So much more coming your way with this process. You will lose weight. You will be successful.

@ZinNH is right with that analogy. So many of us view surgery as the destination. It isn't. It's just the biggest event on your way to your destination, which is after you're healed & are doing daily maintenance. The destination isn't a number on a scale or even lower blood pressure. It's living your new life.

I think it's like when you plan a big party, or a wedding. You spend a year planning and prepping and getting excited about the big day, and then the big day happens, and the next morning you wake up and say, "now what?" We plan so much for surgery, that once it happens, we don't have anything to fixate on any more. After surgery, you're just waiting... waiting to heal, waiting to feel better, waiting for the number on the scale to go down.
i don't have any advice, but I understand how you're feeling. I've started planning a vacation that we are going to take in a few months, just to give me something else to be thinking about.

I suffer from Major Depressive Disorder.
I felt pretty depressed after surgery, mostly due to low energy and missing food.< br>I am about 5 weeks out and feeling better.
The weight coming off is helping but I am finding it hard to deal with my emotions without the comfort of food.

I had my surgery last Wednesday. I had a bad experience with the nurses at the hospital, so I would definitely say to not let them push their ideas on you and don't make them force anything on you. Staying at the hospital was the worst part for me. The constant beeping of the machines, being checked on every 30 minutes, and the food tasted horrible which discouraged me to try eating (heads up- they told me that I had to consume 40 ounces before I could go home so be prepared because you will definitely not want to eat after surgery). Once I got home, I was able to recover much faster. Don't skip your meds and don't try to eat anything before they give you the go ahead! Hope this helps!
