I had a gastric bypass in April. I'm down over 70lbs since surgery and I feel great. Tonight I went public about the surgery so I felt like I was coming out. I feel good about the progress. The comparison is crazy to see. Because you don't see it day to day.

SGirl35 got a reaction from momin2005 in 3 months Post Op .... Hair Loss
Oh okay. Yeah I figured you pee it out. I just figured if my Vitamin pack says it had 200% daily value, then it’s enough? I’ll have to check that label for the B vitamin, and then ask my doctor what to do... no sense in taking more Vitamins when I’ll pee it out.. the Hair loss has always been an issue , even back in my thin days when I took a million vitamins and ate a very very high Protein diet. Weight lifted and stuff.

Mine didn't start coming out until about 4 months out.It is depressing at first, but you have to remember it's a temporary trade. I'm using some great hair products and boxley Shampoo to help. And it will return eventually. But it pushed me to get a great cut[emoji4] And that helped allot. I may not have long thick hair anymore but I also don't have those 76 pounds

I have noticed more hair coming out lately, I was hoping to avoid this phase as well. As long as I don't get patchy, I'll be okay. 😨

You have 2 choices: Keep waddling in your guilt or move past it and go forward. I'm 1 year out and I over ate and didn't eat the right things but I got up the next morning and it was a new day. I went to the gym and ate right. It'll be fine. Just don't keep doing it.

SGirl35 got a reaction from Aries331 in Hunger
I’m 10 weeks out and I definitely feel hungry often now. It does change based on how hydrated I am and how bored or stressed I am. I do feel full easily after eating though which is nice, but not at all like you imagine. On days I exercise , I feel less hunger. The key for me is benefiber in my drinks and staying hydrated. But the good thing is; the hunger isn’t at all like it was before surgery , and if I’m busy, I can go all day without food, although that’s not good because you feel starved after.. I munch often or drink Water to prevent major hunger..

SGirl35 reacted to JohnnyCakes in weed smoker about to get bypass
don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of weed and I'm not telling you to stop smoking it.
but 2-3 times a day, all day? come on, friend, you KNOW that is too much.
why don't you take this surgery as an opportunity to do a whole body reset/detox. go a month without the ganj. two weeks leading up to surgery and two weeks after. then add weed back into you life at maybe a bit less frequent rate.
if anything, it'll help you get higher in the future because your tolerance will lower by giving your cannabis receptors a break/restart.
and yes, it will make your surgery safer. the anesthesiologist needs optimal O2 exchange in your lungs and I'm going to guess your lungs are not in optimal condition right now.

Smokers of any kind. The smoke damages your lungs, lung capacity and oxygen exchange putting you at risk for impaired wound healing, pneumonia, infection and sepsis. Yes this applies to nicotine AND marijuana AND vaping.
Do yourself a favor and quit. Yes I know it's hard, yes I used to smoke.
Edibles? Ehhhh dealers choice. Just make sure you can stay on program.
Good luck!

you’re losing 20lbs/month. what did you expect to lose?!?
i swear, people will b*tch about anything...

SGirl35 reacted to Meryline in Slow and steady loss normal?
That is 44 days. When was the last time you lost 30 lbs in 44 days? I lost 33 lbs in the first 44 days after surgery. It's a good amount of weight loss. We started at the same place. You are doing good.

SGirl35 reacted to karen_marie in I need help with my diet
Definitely invest in a scale. It is your best ally and tool before and after surgery. Hat's off to you for going this long without one! My docs told me between 600-800 calories a day, 60-80g Protein a day over the course of 3-5 meals a day. Depending on my schedule, I may just have 3 small meals, or I'll have two small Snacks and 3 small meals. Just depends on what I'm up to. I have started keeping at least one Quest Protein Bar in my purse at all times for those weekend days that I'm running around and don't want to worry about lunch. I drink a lot of caffeine free hot tea, Powerade zero, and Water or water with crystal light to try and get my liquids in. I also use MyFitnessPal to track everything I eat, and keep an eye on the nutrition breakdown as the day goes on to make sure I'm at least hitting my protein goal.

SGirl35 got a reaction from Msdooloo in Slow weight loss
While my weight loss hasn’t been super slow- the past month it has been and I stall a lot. I started the gym 5 days; 30-1 hr walking. I started losing much faster. I know it’s hard to gym the first month or two- I’m at 10 weeks and barely started a week and half ago.. under 200lbs we don’t lose that fast. Just keep your head up and know that it’ll come off. Walk as much as you can to get your body going.

SGirl35 reacted to SuzyQutie in Wife is treating me terrible after surgery.
I've dealt with an abusive spouse before... He's my EX now. An EXample of what to never be around again.
Only advice I can give as I don't know you or your wife, is to talk to someone close to you, so maybe they can talk to her as well. Focus on getting better, not just for you but for your children as well. Get your strength back and then decide if the relationship is healthy and if not, how to correct it. Good luck. God bless

What should you do ? No one can tell you that. But I wanted to say I'm so sorry for what your dealing with. Emotional abuse can happen to men as well as women so I want you to know this is serious and unacceptable. And I'm not sure why she's treating you this way only she knows. And I also don't want to guess or find reasons to excuse her behaviour. Does she know the impact of her behaviour has on you ? Being so soon post op it is an emotional rollercoaster without the added insults from someone it's terrible. Your not alone here we are all hear to listen. Xx

I’m about 9 weeks and down about 50lbs. The first 38 in one month... so slow after that you’re looking great!

SGirl35 got a reaction from FluffyChix in Slow weight loss / gym
Thanks! It was more like 4.0 I must’ve gotten something wrong in my explanation. But the next night at the gym- I was tired at 3.5 mph.. 5.0 is running yeah. I don’t huff and puff due to the fact that I’ve been active most my life and was a runner back in my fit days... but I do get tired in the gym. I do better out in nature. Being distracted is key!! But I’m committed to only weekly weigh ins and 5 nights a week of gym... see if I can get things losing again
