I'm not due for surgery for 5 days so take this with a grain of salt. I have seen many many people lament over the "week 3 stall" so it seems you aren't alone. Word on the street is that that you are losing inches during these stalls. Grab your tape measure and see if you numbers have changed. If you are doing everything right it will pass! Good luck!

I’m new to all this ( just sleeved on the 27th) so I may be completely off on my way of thinking, but this is how I look at this: I didn’t have this surgery so I could never have a cookie, never enjoy my favorite dishes ever again, or to feel shamed every time I do. I’ve felt all those feelings my whole overweight, dieting, adult life. I had this surgery to help me be healthier- to help me focus on the issues with my relationship/addiction to food. That is my main goal.To have a HEALTHY relationship with food, so I can eat to live, not Live to eat. Once I learn a new way to navigate that relationship, I fully plan to enjoy an occasional cookie or a bite or two of my favorite dishes. I would never judge. However, I agree with a previous poster that I am concerned for you and that this behavior might continue and ruin all your hard work of you don’t reel in the old habits and really focus on a healthy relationship with food. That said, I wouldn’t beat yourself up about it- instead, I would take a step back, recognize what happened, maybe reflect a little on what led/triggered you to over indulge, learn something from it and let it go. Today is a new day. I wish you the best.

I’m doing a lot better than I thought I would.... Surgery was quick and easy... no major pain just soreness at the incisions and surprisingly I’m getting my fluids in, although I do have to constantly remind myself to drink Water, etc. Hoping I advance in diet when I see her for my 1 week post-op check up!

Thank you all for the well wishes

I was in the hospital for 2 days and nights after surgery. My wife was with me and slept on a recliner in the room. After the operation, I was up and walking every 2 hours around the clock. The first night this was difficult because I was all wired up with IVs and electronics and whenever I went for a walk, I had to drag all these around with me on a pole with wheels on the bottom. My wife gave me some stability in doing these walks. On the second day, they began to unhook me so things were easier. I was glad she was there. Even though you might say she was bored, she wanted to be there because this was major surgery. And she stayed by my side.

Chapstick, loose clothing, phone/charger/earphones & eye mask is all I needed... you won’t be doing much the first day of surgery except resting and I was fortunate to leave the next day

LOL Shedo! I have seen this weird food ritual phenomenon in action! I think so long as we get our required Protein, liquids, carbs, etc. we are good to go on whatever else we eat staying at appropriate calorie level as well. I drink my vitamins and Fiber gummies and go through my facial routine every night before bed so that it's a no brainer and I am not worrying if I forgot to take it throughout the day when I am awake. Establishing some kind of routine is a must. Thr same goes for drinking times and eating times. When I was fresh out of surgery, it was such a chore! Now, it is so normal to me, I wonder how I was ever able to eat as much calories and food as I did before

I had this as well when my reflux meds ran out at about 6 weeks and I didn't renew the script. It wasn't until I told the nurse that I would get really hungry every 3 hours that she told me I shouldn't be so soon after the sleeve. Back on meds and it is much better but not completely gone I have been wondering if I should top up with chewable when I get the feeling or increase the nexium.

Acid has nothing to do with the reason to avoid coffee or alcohol. The moment the surgeon closed your stomach again it starts producing hydrochloric. That is far more acidic than anything that you will put in your mouth. The main reason for the avoidance of alcohol is the fact that it is a barbiturate(depressant) and a blood thinner and is famous for lowering inhibitions. In the case of a gastric patient, lowered inhibitions could mean "just one more bite" or something along those lines.
On one hand I agree with you, it's a special occasion and it should be observed. However, you trusted the surgeon enough to knock you out and cut you open then remove a part of you, yet you are asking a bunch of strangers if it's OK to go against the surgeons recommendations. Do what you like, but realize that it is only 3 weeks post op and you already going against plan.

Good luck! First few days suck on Clear Liquids and the pain - but it will pass and you will make it. Just make sure to keep up with your liquids - set a timer for every 15 mins to make sure you have your 1-2oz of liquids and you will be fine. Take advantage of the nursing staff, they are a wonderful resource and help while you are in the hospital. As others said - walk as soon as you can and walk often - it really does help. Even if you only walk half a hallway in 15 mins - just walk, or shuffle, or saunter - whichever suits you best.
