    Process

I met my surgery for an initial consultation and then completed all the insurance requirements and a month before my surgery I met with the surgeon again to ensure that I was ok and to get a more concrete date on the books for surgery. I had the option to have surgery 2 weeks later but opted for a latter date and was sleeved on 12/22. Good luck on your journey! HW:232 SW:225 CW: 209 and counting

Anthem BCBS 6 Months Pre-Op Diet

I have BCBS and I was approved within 24 hours and I gained a whopping 5 LBs my 5th month in my pre-op appointments. Don’t worry so much they look at initial weight as a factor for approval and you can call the insurance company to get very specific details of what you’re required to do to ensure you get approved. Not sure what your company wants by my BCBS NY only wanted psych evaluation, 6 months of PCP weigh-ins and medical clearance from primary physician and like I said my approval was completed with 24 hours and I was sleeved 1 week ago 12/22 HW: 232 SW: 225 CW: 215 5’3”
  9. Chapstick, loose clothing, phone/charger/earphones & eye mask is all I needed... you won’t be doing much the first day of surgery except resting and I was fortunate to leave the next day

    Tomorrow Is The Big Day

Thank you to everyone that responded... I’m doing a lot better than I thought I would.... Surgery was quick and easy... no major pain just soreness at the incisions and surprisingly I’m getting my fluids in, although I do have to constantly remind myself to drink water, etc. Hoping I advance in diet when I see her for my 1 week post-op check up! Thank you all for the well wishes
  11. All types of emotions running through my head but I’ve worked way too hard to back out now. I’ll be headed into the OR in a few hours. Soon to be on the LOSERS BENCH.. My mind is racing wish me luck fellow pals

    Pre-Op Diet

I just started my pre-op diet 12/8 officially although I’ve been weening my way off of caffeine, sugary foods and I’m allowed one low calorie meal for dinner but I’m curious if you don’t lose the pre-op weight that the surgeon set will they deny you the surgery?
  13. The final missing link has finally come through. My insurance approval only took 1 day to complete and I’m elated to start this new journey. Let the countdown begin.. 12/22 Here I come
  14. Most places use your initial weight when submitting insurance approval documentation

    Pre-op testing

It’s going to be blood work, EKG & chest x-rays and the readings/ correspondences in which they send to the surgeon are only good for 30 days.

  20. Thanks and same to you! I was screaming because I was so EXCITED
  21. I’ve only told a handful of people that I️ am having WLS but of course people are going to ask about the weight loss and I’d prefer to keep it quiet just to avoid the opinions of those who are possible nay-sayers! Just wondering what are you telling people as you go through the different phases of WL surgery and recovery? HW:232 CW:230 SW:217 GW: TBD Date 12/22/17
  22. Yea... I️ told my husband that I️ would tell people a hernia removal as well but he seemed skeptical and wasn’t a 100% on board with that one. I’m starting my liquid diet and will start bringing my gym bag to work just in case people ask.

6 months pre op diet Fail

Do not get discouraged I️ maintained my weight for most of my weigh ins but at my 5th month I️ gained 5 lbs.... I️ was freaking out but the surgeon said not to stress because she uses the initial weight to gain insurance approval and my BMI was 40.69 at that time. She did inform me that because she is submitting my initial weight I’ll still need to lose 5% of that weight prior to my surgery day. I️ would say just double check with your insurance company to ensure they don’t have a NO-Weight gain clause in your policy to obtain approval. Best of luck
  24. I️ am ELATED... after 6 months of appointments with PCP and other specialist I️FINALLY HAVE MY SURGERY DATE 12/22/17. I️ couldn’t be happier and I’m screaming at the top of my lungs “Where My December Sleevers At?”
