Just cleared for surgery 5/21 freaking out a little well a lot.
Man i am right there with you. If we back up to last july i am standing right in that same spot. Hang tough and follow it thru. You will feel amazing when you dont have sleep apnea and find out what a good nights sleep is like again. The blood pressure meds will drop by wayside. The number 1 thing the sleeve does is make it possible to get the carb/sugar monkey off your back. its only about 6 weeks till you can eat "normal" food again. Thats a very small time from the rest of your life. Normal will be different and smaller but you will be happy with that trust me. the food addiction thing is very hormone driven so the sleeve will take care of that part but you will be responsible for the mental changes to keep it going after the physical addiction is gone. You will feel so much better and as the weight drops off you will find it easier to make the changes to keep it off. You can still cook and make wonderful food you just have to expand your horizons about food to keep from expanding your waist line.

Three years out, on testosterone pellets, HUNGRY ALL THE TIME!
Medications do throw a curve into the post sleeve process. HRT does not cause weight gain according to NIH studies but Hypothyroid does so i would start there with a doctor visit and blood test to insure your med levels are correct. after meds the most normal cause of the 2 hr hunger monster is simply sugar spikes caused by sugar or simple carbs like bread. Fat is the Macro that provides satiety (feel full) so make sure you have a healthy fat in your first meal of the day and low carbs.

VSG candidate, boyfriend NOT onboard!
Sad, Sad, Sad - Your are worried about a 7 year relationship but not worried about the lifetime relationship with yourself that you giving up on. This guy is not your forever - he isn't even your right now! He is a 7 year room mate that wants everything in his life to stay in his control and that includes you. You want your ankles to stop hurting - have the surgery lose the weight You want some control back over your life - have the surgery - chose yourself over others. You can not ever expect someone to truly love you until you love yourself enough to want the best for you. I am sorry i don't do the sweet talk and tend to upset people but you clearly have some emotional baggage and this boyfriend is just something you are afraid of letting go because the unknown is very scary. The unknown is also your best bet for a future because all the things you do "know" are failing you. good luck and i truly do hope you make the right decision for Your life.

Just got approved for surgery.
most due. 3-6 months is real normal

Stalled and getting nervous
it does tend to slow from that point. 1. track your food - cant work the problem without data 2. hydrate - get that water in 3. oddly enough make sure your eating enough. If after tracking you find yourself below 1000 calories you should try to bump up a few hundred. 4. Protein - hit your protein target. if you are low you will lose muscle mass and that will decrease your metabolism. 5. No added sugar - watch those packages. 80% of packaged food has added sugar 6. cut out all simple carbs - that's just another form of sugar 7. complex carbs from your veggies 8. Zero fruit if you are stalled. 9. if you are not doing so already then add weights to your workout routine to build muscle mass and increase metabolism. good luck and stay positive. A negative outlook always has a negative outcome.

Pulmonary Clearance?
i had severe sleep apnea but had a sleep study that was less than year old so he took that. I had to have Cardiac clearance and a swallow test
-
So I fell off the wagon
1. drink more water 2. eat more protein 3. no sugar - no foods with added sugar 4. no simple carbs 5. more veggies.

Rant/FOMO
my FAT clothes are residing in a large tote in the garage. I still can't seem to reach the point of letting them go. The deep dark place in the back of your mind you try never to go to will not accept that i will not need those size 48 jeans or those 3x shirts in 6 months. So yea i kinda know that feeling. Its been 20 years since i weighed this amount so it might take me a few months to believe.

Looking for support from strangers
how much of that 800 - 1000 is from protein? You also may be on the low side calories wise depending on your activity level. maybe a protein shake with breakfast to raise your protein intake and bump your calories a little bit. Also are you getting enough water? when we get real busy we can forget to drink on a regular basis.

Advice needed
dont make up a pretend surgery. just say surgery and then stare them in the eye till they slink back into the hole they crawled out of.

Sweetners
not the powder although you can do that, I use the 11oz cartons
-
Sweetners
Just chose an artificial sweetener with no glycemic load. as for the coffee i use that time to get in my Premeir protein drink by adding it in 1/3's to my giant coffee cup Amazon has great prices and costco is not bad if you have a card. I use chocolate or caramel for a great coffee. but i do drink it black after i finish the protein drink.

Before and After (photos)
Frickin awesome. Amazing WL story.

Diet
Your diet has to prioritize protein to ensure you do not break down muscle mass. Carbs will raise blood sugar and that will raise insulin and as long as you have elevated insulin you will not burn stored body fat. so hydrate eat protein - fats - complex carbs no added sugars - no simple carbs calorie counts at this early stage will not matter if you are following the above.

Took my wife out to dinner I am 4 weeks post op GVS...
My wife and daughter and I are doing dinner theater on Saturday for Mothers day. The meal will mostly come home cause i know if i eat the salad i will not have room for the main course but the main course will be a medium flat iron steak so it will reheat good for lunch the next day. It is nice to get out and see a show and just hang out. It can get tiresome to always be the WL person and it doesnt take much effort to find menu items that fit and you get 2 or meals for the price of 1

How Soon Until Better? (Sleeved May 9th)
everyone heals at a different rate. 1-2 weeks would be completely normal. you should feel a little better everyday it is a gradual improvement. Walk as much as you can it is the driver of the healing process. the less you walk the longer it takes.

Partially approved... Insurance is FRUSTRATING!
Most stay 1 day. Some programs 2 days and i have seen a few post from people that went home same night after a very early a.m. surgery. No overnight could see you there as late as 10 p.m. so dont think this means surgery to the parking lot. good luck and it will be worth the hassles.
