Calling March Sleevers
Ah, same here! I actually like protein shakes in the morning, so I think I'll continue that trend. I may not say that after weeks of shakes post surgery - ha! A lot of people are required to have shakes only pre-surgery, which sounds pretty tough to me. But I bet you'll lose more weight that way.

Calling March Sleevers
Sounds like a good plan. What does your surgeon require pre-op? Seems like the balance of people who post on this board are very low carb, with shakes exclusively or shakes and lean protein & veges. Good luck!! 2 weeks!!

Obese to Overweight
Go for it!! At 5'5", I weighed 125-135 through college, so it is certainly a healthy #.

Tom Cruise
Seriously, there is some serious magic going on here!!! :-)

Tom Cruise
OK, I am watching MI-2 -- Tom Cruise is 2 years older than me or my husband but he NEVER AGES! What is up with this -- seriously!!! This movie was made 18 years ago, when we were 36-38 YOs. Last week we watched Made in America and TC looked YOUNGER than in the more recent movie. Damn, I want to be a movie star!!

First visit with surgeon!
At my first meeting, I got weighed, then met with the surgeon. We talked about my medical history and goals, and then we ended up talking about energy policy, because thats what I do professionally and he was pretty curious. After that, I met with a nurse or tech (I'm not sure) who handed me a binder of information and medical orders for tests, and walked me through it. Finally, the receptionist set up a number of subsequent appointments. ETA, I was pretty nervous, too! It'll be easy :-)

The best on-plan thing I have eaten lately is...
I'm pre-pre-op. Salmon filets baked in foil pockets with spray of olive oil, squeeze of lemon, garlic, salt, pepper, oregano. I'm crazy about salmon these days.

Out With the Old--In With the New!
I use bananas for the banana element I, too, feel like someone is going to pull the rug out from under me and there will be no surgery after all of this buildup -- its nerve wracking. Was at Costco yesterday with husband and it really hit home for me that my pre-op diet starts in a week and the way we shop and eat is really going to change.

Where are these trolls coming from?
I don't do the gym quite yet. Took my doodle (see pic) for a long walk, did the exercises recommend by physical therapist, ran errands. Maybe after surgery I will be gym worthy

Where are these trolls coming from?
I know that I assumed you were venting about comments that came up from your post yesterday afternoon about pulled pork. Where you said:
-
Dumping - did you take any tests?
Sounds like a good plan!! Taking notes...

Out With the Old--In With the New!
@FluffyChix I really can't believe that your two weeks are almost up -- seems like you just started!! How excited are you at this point? I meant to tell you, I DID try banana+coffee, but with chocolate shake as base and espresso powder as coffee. And some spinach, just because. Its now my favorite shake!

Am I the only one watching this tonight? I'll also tune in to tomorrow's hockey game USA vs Russia

Pre-op juice Question
My orders are to mix water with gatorade or 100% fruit juice after surgery, for one week, before I move to protein shakes/full liquids. A week of zero calories would be a hot mess.

I love this thread. Just saying...

Sleep Apnea Test
I had very similar symptoms, and I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. You do the home test, then an overnight test at sleep center to determine pressure settings for an APAP machine. I've had my machine for 2 weeks now, and my average number of apneas has dropped from 65 to 8 per hour, and I feel so much more rested! So if you are diagnosed, don't panic! You and everyone in hearing range will sleep better :-)

Snacking
My suggestion would be to get another job. Sometimes you just need to be ruthless about things like this!!

20 years of Lies
I just downloaded this book from Amazon, can't wait to read it tonight! The concept of losing fast to maintain interest is of particular interest to me -- I've never lost more than 20-30 pounds at one time.

20 years of Lies
Hear, hear to everything y'all are saying! The last place I want to end up is continuing with extreme diets and eating things I don't like or in a way that feels unnatural to me. ps, this is hilarious: Fatness NeverLean. My flaming dress had porkchops on it.
