Biotin
Thats why I started taking it! I had very bad anemia a few years ago and lost too much hair for my liking. :-)

Biotin
I've been taking biotin for a month or so and it's really helping my nails! Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app

Food Restrictions
Its the skins -- my nutritionist said I can have them if I peel them (like that is going to happen, LOL)

Doctor refused
I believe you can get a second referral from any the specialists you see before surgery.

Questions about the liquid diet
I think you should just throw caution to the wind and go for March 8th!! After the liquids, I have 2 weeks of those protein shakes, then another 2 weeks with 50% shakes, 50% softs.

Questions about the liquid diet
Day of surgery, March 14th. I get to eat regular food 2 weeks pre-op. Do you have a date yet? Still shooting for May?

Questions about the liquid diet
Would it make you feel better to know that I have 1 week of clear liquids before I can have a shake? Our liquids are 50-50 water and juice, so calories will be in the 400 kcal/day range. An entire week!

Questions about the liquid diet
As Little Green pointed out, all of our plans are a little different. I can have dairy, soy, almond, or rice milk with my protein shakes. I can also have nonfat yogurt, lowfat cottage cheese, up to 1/2 cup fruit, and 1 T peanut butter. But not all at once :-) My target parameters: >250 kcal, 20-30g protein, >8g fat, >6g sugar, >15g carb, and >10g sugar alcohols (tho sugar alcohols are discouraged). So my surgeon is shooting for up to 1,000 kcal per day.

Out With the Old--In With the New!
Maybe pre-op you can move to actual food (many people have this option)?

Out With the Old--In With the New!
Bummer, Fluffy Dr. Weiner suggests an alternative online: 1 c. yogurt, 1 banana, 4T PB2 or natural PB (http://drmatthewweiner.com/a-better-protein-shake/). Maybe you can run that by your dr? I personally like sfh Pure from Whole Foods, but if whey's the problem, its not for you. I've always wondered about the non-whey powders -- now I know I don't need to try them!

Happy healing (and losing)!!

Time off work and telling co-workers?
I simply signed out for 2.5 weeks. When someone asked, I simply said I have minor surgery scheduled. He was too polite to ask what (which is what I can expect from the rest).

Super fast approval! Now all the questions
Hi, Star. Have you attended any pre-op classes, or were you spared? I'm sure your surgeon will have specific 2-week pre-op and post-op instructions. Everyone has different requirements.

Am so tired of people who ask every ten minutes why they're not losing weight
Haha, well done, Claire! I'm still debating where I fall in the continuum, because I don't see a bucket for posters who drink and post weird stuff occasionally. That was a sloppy omission, Creek!!

Little Green getting little(r)
LG, I got my date in December -- even all of my followup appts were booked then! It was maddening that it was so far out back then, but I am actually a little grateful to have put aside the doubt about when it would be. Sent from my SM-G935V using BariatricPal mobile app

Out With the Old--In With the New!
I pray to god we will, lol, just a small piece, occasionally. That is all I ask :-)

Out With the Old--In With the New!
LOL, I hope she isn't lieing -- I have 5 weeks before I eat solid-ish food. My pre-op diet is a super-basic, low-carb, 1,200 kcal diet. Carbs are limited to veges and 3 fruits a day. Post-op is pretty much what everybody else does: 1 week clear liquids, 2 weeks protein shakes, 2 weeks shakes/softs, then until 3 months: 4 meals with 2.5 oz lean protein + 1/4-1/2 cup fruit or vegetables, 65-75 g protein.

Out With the Old--In With the New!
He's a lucky man -- my husband and son (he's 23) will be on their own for the first month or so after my surgery. They get a small break because I don't have to do the protein shake thing pre-op.

Calling March Sleevers
Same here -- March 14th, start pre-op Feb 28, and ready to get the surgery done! I personally like sfh Pure protein powders -- I get them at Whole Foods. I like to add a little espresso powder to the chocolate, and tart mixed berries to the vanilla to tone down the sweetness. I'm curious to know if I will like these flavors after surgery! Oh, and I ordered PB2 as a flavor add-in, but I haven't tried it.

Dr. Matthew Weiner
LOL , me, either! I think it was the wine talking!!!

Dr. Matthew Weiner
@Little Green Ugh, I've lost my way. Who is "he"? What is your surgeon's post-op diet?
