  1. Hi there, my surgeon required upper GI for all of his patients, too. Sorry that this is going to delay you.
  2. Is 165 a reasonable goal with your height and muscle mass? I know how maddening the struggle is to lose weight, but you are very close to an ideal weight now. My husband (also 6'1") has a very lean frame and 190 sits well on him.
  3. What?? Your surgeon is asking for 20 pounds in a month??? Holy moly! What's your plan look like?
  4. My dietitian today said iron and zinc are mainly what you need to avoid hair loss. Unfortunately, I ordered my vitamins without iron.
  5. Isn't it great to have a date, even if its 4 or 5 weeks away?! I'm excited and nervous, too. What's your pre-op diet look like?
  6. I have the Dreamwear one, small works best for me: https://www.easybreathe.com/-p4440.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIr9a_5bSS2QIVS1qGCh1p9wkPEAYYBCABEgIHcfD_BwE Nothing actually goes in your nose.
  7. Sorry to hear this, and I suspect I would feel the same way with a full mask. Have you considered nasal pillow mask, which lets you gasp away with your mouth (I've done it!) if you don't have enough air?
  8. Mom's family -- tons of us have it! I'm sorry to read about your neuropathy, too -- cancer is such a b***h. I'm sure we'll both be better off with less weight to bear on our suffering feet. Soon..... right?
  9. I really should look into braces, maybe after I lose some weight. :-) I have something called CMT (Charcot Marie Tooth) -- its pretty mild as far as it goes, but it is slowly progressive and I cant lift my toes off the floor anymore, so I trip over my toes!
  10. I read about the new labels -- how cool is that?!?!
  11. Nope, but she's taught me what exercises to do, and how to do them, so when the swelling is down a little more (maybe a day or two more?) I'll just start where we left off. I have droopy feet, so I fall a lot, LOL.
  12. I got feedback today, too -- use auto-adjust for the humidity setting instead of a fixed rate -- no more condensation in the tubes. Just thought I'd share this tip if other new users are having this problem. I've made it 7+ hours for 4 days now.
  13. This is about what the orthopedist I saw recently told me, too -- he was incredibly supportive of my decision to get bariatric surgery. I have OA, so my knees/hips/lower back hurt, too. I just finished 4 weeks of PT and then I slipped and fell -- sigh. My poor knees.
  14. I'm glad to read some positive experiences. My husband and I have been happily married for 27 years, and I just can't see surgery wrecking things.
  15. Who knows -- we may all grow to appreciate our little machines!!
  16. I enjoyed the drama. I am shallow that way.
  17. Hi, was the weight gain an issue? At my last appt with surgeon, I was up 5# from holidays (ugh), but I've almost lost it now. Still I worry that I havent actually lost weight. Still another 3+ weeks until I start the pre-op diet, where I actually get to eat food -- 1200 kcal, 60g carb, 120 g protein, 4 meals a day. For that I am thankful. OTOH, post surgery is 1 week clear liquids, then 2 weeks full liquids. So surgeon is easier on the upside and harder on the downside. Want to add, I personally am on the fence about Premier Protein -- its too thick for me.
  18. So true, and so frustrating at the same time.
  19. My husband declared he would never move from our house, so I said I want an backyard pool. Score! I can't swim in public pools anymore now that I know how to test my own water. Shiver. Ha! Everyone should have a backyard pool. ETA: just figuring out that I sound like an ass....
  20. Robin Roberts for me -- I get it, but I'd really like to know why its Fecilicia, and not, say, Amy? Or Amanda? Or Megan?
