  1. Dang! So you guys, I'm totally counting this as a win, cuz Dr. F. says that we "can" use bone broth and even in some cases a tiny amounts of greens on a fast. Well last night I had 1 cup of bone broth with about 1/8c of baby spinach and a tiny crimini mushroom. Total maybe 55cals? MAYBE? And only water, green tea, matcha, and black decaff coffee the rest of the day. I'm riding high going into 36 hours this morning! I'm gonna push it until dinner tonight. Wooohooooo! Feel good. Mr. F. also did it and even better, he stopped his metformin yesterday and his fasting bg was only 102 this morning. It fell to 90 yesterday afternoon! I'm super stoked!!!
  2. Sorry doing a 36hour fast with Mr. F. Our first!!! I'll be back with pics of lunch tomorrow. I'm gonna try for 1-2pm tomorrow. Hey, I feel sure we've seen this--haven't we?
  3. I'm gonna make it again tomorrow! I'll take pics then! I just used canned salmon. *blush* Cheap lunch!
  4. Dang! I made the tastiest Nicoise Salad today. Sorry no piccys! But, ermagerd! *squeal* So good!
  5. Wow! You need a referral to a hematologist. A 4 means you need an infusion hon--asap.
  6. Hope they figure it out. You need to check all your vitamin levels. And thyroid too, in addition to your iron. ((hugs))
  7. You are ALREADY in a fasted state by virtue of the lack of calorie intake. LOL. I would rephrase this that if it were ME...I would strongly NOT do IF so soon after surgery. Seriously. WE NEED TO GET OUR PROTEIN intake steady. EAT. Eat enough veggies with your protein. Eat healthy fat. If you want, become keto adapted not only cuz of your calorie intake but by keeping your carbs low and protein adequate. That's gonna take MUCH longer than 2 weeks. Let the surgery do the job it's meant to do and control the QUALITY of your diet more than the quantity right now. At some point quantity will become an issue but not in the early days--maybe not even until the 9-10th month... At about the 6month mark it would be appropriate to entertain ideas about IF, but even then that may be too soon. This is just my opinion. I clearly am not an RD or doc. LOL. And I don't play one on the internet.
  8. De-Nile..:ain’t just a river in Egypt!! ??
  9. Not really sure right now. Maybe quorn? I have an appointment with her in May. I'm fine, but I'm tired of "not knowing" and living so strictly. I would love to have/try bean back if they don't spike me too much. Would love to feel like I'm not killing myself if I eat chia seeds, hemp hearts and hummus/falafel now and then! Would love to know if there is a daily threshold to stay below, etc. Sorry for making this all about me.
  10. Dang maybe I should try some falafel then?! I have to wait for the oncology RD's blessing though. I'm looking at trying to find non-meat protein sources that aren't high in phytoestrogens. I suspect chickpeas will be put on the no-fly list.
  11. Hmmmm, loose skin? Or fat, sick, dumpy, and exhausted? ring, ring "Hello, loose skin? Pleasedtameetcha!"
  12. Holy carbs! Those look fabulous!!! You know how you can learn to eat around your tool? I am pretty sure, I would learn how to do that in Egypt! The ramen, I'm like, "Meh...is that all you got?" Cuz even though I am a ramen and pho bi*ch, I feel really certain that using some of my shiritaki noodles in it, means I can have my soup and eat it too! But your Egypt food pics? hahaha...I look and secretly chant, "My preciouses..."
  13. Awwwww!!!! ((dammit!!!)) So unfair!!! ((hugs)) Vent! Vent! Vent! I can't imagine that's true. Your photos don't show any of that! ! !
  14. I agree!!! TOTES not fair you have to hide it!!! Girl, you should sing it loud and proud! You are AMAZING!!! ?
  15. Awwww! You should TOTALLY post about your success! Shout it from the rooftops!!! I'm so happy for you! I only joke about the "bi*ch" thing. And vent away about the melting candle stuff!!! Gosh I SO get it. I try not to turn the lights up brightly anymore. And remember, you are the master of your own lighting ambiance! I think you should invest in rheostats and remote control for light settings. Anytime you walk into a room, the light dims. I'm so sorry you have some body dysmorphia going on right now. I PROMISE things are gonna get better!!! In six months are so, I bet you will be in a different place for sure!! ((hugs))
  16. 3 meals, 2 snacks. Eating about 2oz per mini meal. I was hungry every 2 hours until I could start getting in more protein per meal.
  17. Woohoooo! Congrats! You look lovely!!!!!
  18. Geeze. So sorry you are going through this. Just know from people I see who've converted, the relief they feel from the acid is pretty immediate. Like immediately after surgery. Try to glom onto that belief and just work it sistah! You CAN handle this. And it will pass quickly!!!!
  19. I'm so happy for you!!! (And then the gremlin in me wants to add a "," and a "bi*ch" at the end...*sigh* ) Alls I know is that you have a gorgeous and enviable figure!!!! And I truly believe your body is gonna stop where its ready to stop and you will have a little bounceback down the road. Cuz I've seen it happen in too many, both here and on another site. So it kinda tells me don't fear the original "low" too much, cuz your body isn't through with the journey. You know? Embrace and enjoy!
  20. I think this is a valid fear and a pretty universal one for us who are MO or SMO and who have lost a crap ton of weight. I know I'm terrified. If I see a 2lb gain on the scale it makes me walk a straight and narrow line as soon as I see it! ((hugs)) I know you will figure it out. To me, it does require reviewing what kind of food we fill ourselves with. What happens if you eat a pound of pizza versus, what happens if you eat a pound of spinach?
  21. I miss @Matt Z and @sillykitty. Wish we could get the band back together again...
  22. Gosh me2!!! Or at least want to live for as long as I can be self-sufficient and have quality of life/fun. When that stops...then Jesus take the wheel...cuz I'm done. D-U-N-done! I DO believe these guys/gals (Dr. F. et al) are worth their weight in gold! And I so hope they are right. The things that's thrown me is his new book with that other doc--the salt dude. It has COMPLETELY different recs on protein for longevity and it looks more like Drs. Phinney and Voleks recs. So maybe it's that they are discussing "normal weight" people for longevity versus the obese/over-weight population? Dunno. But I'm just gonna choose not to stress over this--like you. I have plenty of days where I hit my goals and exceed them actually. So I'm pretty sure I'm getting good amounts consistently? Oh also, I don't know if you've noticed this about yourself? But I could swear my batwings are "smaller" than they were previously? I also read that part of shrinking them involves getting rid of the fat in them, so the cells are signaled to eat the extra skin? No reference articles on this--just a shmo on the internet and so I agree with his premise and choose to adopt it. *snort* I don't think you have to worry about DLST and an hour here or there when you are regularly eating as you do within that 6 hour window. You're doing an 18:6 fast every day! Wooohooo! Bravo!
