To Mich W (my twin in Sleeveland): I know just what you are talking about. When life is out of "control" I want something direct to change the way I feel for a while. We are practically hardwired by experience to distract ourselves with sensation--flavor and fullness--from awareness of the present reality. At least I am. It's so easy. The downsides are so (relatively) remote. BUT. You have done very very well and that can't be undone by 1/2 slice of pizza or a cookie. It's such an odd quirk of our minds that we focus so much on our failures and our successes can just whoosh by unnoticed.
I am sorry that family troubles are weighing down your spirit right now. Take care of yourself and remember that God doesn't make mistakes.

Completely normal ... I had previously lost 100lbs on Weight Watchers and needed my gallbladder out ... when you lose a significant amount of weight in a short time it screws up the GB ... good lucky with surgery!

Hows everyone doing so far? I'm 10 weeks post op as of yesterday ... weight loss so far has been pretty steady ... no complaints! :-)

I sucked it up and kept moving. Sounds like you are doing exactly that. The more you move the faster you will recover. I also slept a lot but for short periods of time, then up and moving! Rest, drink, walk and repeat. You got this!

Muscle is more dense than fat meaning a cubic centimeter of muscle is heavier than a cubic centimeter of fat. Muscle does weigh more than fat.

I've been the same way. Haven't lost a pound since April. Gained about 6 or 7. I've been getting back to my routine. It took so long to gain those lbs, but I can see in my body how it isn't the same. Muscle weighs more than fat. Some of the gain could be that or offsetting what you could be losing in fat. I have come down 3 lbs this week with my continued exercise and discipline.

You've done incredible. 300 lbs. Whether you make it to 199 or not, you've accomplished more than most could hope for from the procedure.

So I know there are things like stalls and everything but I am honestly annoyed with my body. I am 15 months out and should be used to this but I never am.

I know I was eating badly for a bit and did not lose anything for a few weeks.

I realized I was sabotaging myself and for the past 9 days I have been super strict on plan.

I cut out all carbs, and I had never even done that at all this whole time.

I've been eating on average 1150 calories a day.

I have increased my physical activity by going on my walks again and going to the gym.

I have not gone out to eat at all, only eating what I cook.

And what does my body do...it GAINS a pound and a half.

    I'm so frustrated.

    So incredibly frustrated.

I know a pound isn't a lot but it feels like a lot.

I just needed to vent to those who would understand.

This process doesn't make sense sometimes...

I am always hungrier at work or I should say my head is always hungrier at work. I don't know why! I try to keep a couple of Protein Shakes in my desk for those occasions- a Protein Shake seems to stave off the head hunger for me.

Maybe add a lo calorie snack- I'm 12 weeks out this week- I eat 700-800 cal daily . If I feel hungry I eat a piece of fruit or cheese or Protein Bar (or half of one). I usually do a Premier Protein shake for Breakfast. Some turkey and cheese or fruit for lunch and something with Protein for dinner- maybe a skinny cow ice cream or yogurt for a snack. I've been told we should eat 3 times per day and maybe a snack too. If I'm feeling really hungry and I'm not sure why I'll have part of a Protein Shake.
Do you have a nutritionist? Check in with them too.

I don't care what caused it, as long as it's happening haha! And I'm not hungrier than I would be if I was having my hard boiled egg for Breakfast so that's good. But seriously, I was reading a lot about it and the water is the magical helper to weightloss. It's just so hard to drink so much!

Post surgery, as a military officer's wife we moved to a country where drinking was the norm. Expected. Not just wine - vodka. Former Soviets. As diplomats, I often faced situations where I couldn't turn down multiple toasts. For me, it was hell. I have a low tolerance for alcohol. I don't like being drunk. Alcohol was everywhere. There was no avoiding it. In time, it was the norm for me to constantly have at least a glass of wine in hand. Nearly two years of that. I think I was grateful to get pregnant at the end of our tour.

Weight wise, it didn't really affect me, but my loss was slow as I inched to goal. Alcohol is purely empty calories. And I didn't carry the drinking back with me. I do it in moderation now - never more than 2 glasses of wine or 1 beer, maybe every other week.

Transfer addiction is real. Alcoholism post food addiction is real. Be very mindful that you aren't filling a space that you used to fill with food. It can spin out of control, quickly.

If you ever feel you need to drink, you know you have a problem.

    Be well.

    Cheri

I would be way more concerned after 4-5 glasses of social wine of blacking out somewhere. Very low Alcohol tolerance following the sleeve, and you can get drunk way fast. Beware. Your food addiction can become another addiction.

I can't believe how hungry I am, I was not mentally prepared for this.
It is not "head hunger" my stomach is growling and I am starving.
I remember my wife experiencing the same thing and I thought it was all in her head.
On a lighter note, I am down 30 pounds including the three week pre op diet and I have noticed some changes. It is easier for me to get up out of bed and easier for me to get up off the couch.

    Thank you all.
    I feel ok.
Just really sore, like if I did a ton of sit-ups and now my abs are shredded.
So far, no buyers remorse or regrets.
Haven't cried at all yet either.

    Hello,
    My surgery went well.
I was home around 4 yesterday and spent most of the night in bed.
Just got up to take my vitals and walk.
I am at the doctor's office right now to get my drain pulled.

I think about food a lot too. Especially when I am at work. When I'm home I can get busy with things that interest me more. Not sure why work is so hard but it is! I feel like I just focus on food all the time! I'm doing pretty low carb- under 80 per day and calories are averaging around 600-700 I think I'm almost 12 weeks out. I need to count it up again. Losing weight which is what keeps me motivated. It to graze constantly. No, this is not easy. Only people who have no idea what it's really like will say this is the easy way out . For me it was the only way out of obesity, but it's definitely not easy.
I will say in. It always hungry physically , but sometimes I am very hungry. And I do think about eating something decadent, but thankfully I don't do it. I have fallen a couple of times and ate a mcflurry once and a krispy cream once. Unfortunately sugar doesn't bother me at all. It has to be will power that keeps me from it.
