  1. Adding my info! 1. Pre op weight, BMI or measurements 249-250 lbs BMI of 44 2. Surgery type VSG in 2017 then RNY in 2019 3. Lowest post op weight, BMI or measurements and when it occurred 150lbs BMI 27 around 1 year post op 4. Maintenance weight, BMI or measurements and when it occurred 155 lbs BMI 27 around 18 months post op 5. Bounces (up or down) in weight, BMI or measurements and when they occurred I can bounce up and down 5-10 lbs depending on the season but my lowest was a 20 lb drop during an E.Coli infection 6. Methods used to maintain and what has/has not worked What works for me: Weighing daily/weekly, spot checking calories, low cal/keto substitutes, 90% disciplined eating and 10% debauchery. What does not work for me: gym membership as motivation, unsustainable diets and GLP-1 meds (as of now) 7. How your life has changed (losing vs maintaining perspective) During the losing phase I was very rigid almost never went off plan, now everything I want can be worked into my plan and I’m more relaxed. 8. Words of wisdom/cautionary tales/stories of beating the odds Cautionary tale: Don’t suffer in silence with reflux, push for answers and relief. Absolutely never compare yourself to anyone else. Don’t guilt spiral after a little weight gain, try to correct it as soon as you notice. A small gain is very likely in our population after reaching your absolute lowest weight. I remember when I first joined there was a some chatter about being absolutely perfect or you’ll gain it all back and it made me really anxious. Don’t be afraid to ask for help and other tools from your team. We are not quite the same as the never obese population so our bodies may play by different rules. Word of wisdom: Document your journey if you can. I don’t really remember what it was like to be in my obese body anymore, I only vaguely remember feeling bigger. Have other goals apart from losing weight. Once the newness of WLS wears off you may want to continue the momentum of achievement. If you want plastics (and there are no obstacles beside fear) definitely go for it. The recovery can be tough but it completed the journey for me and others I know.
  2. My daughter just made deviled eggs for the first time. I couldn’t bring myself to try any ?
  3. It has been a while since a maintenance mega thread has been created. Can we share how things are going? For everyone officially maintaining vs losing, please share: 1. Pre op weight, BMI or measurements 2. Surgery type 3. Lowest post op weight, BMI or measurements and when it occurred 4. Maintenance weight, BMI or measurements and when it occurred 5. Bounces (up or down) in weight, BMI or measurements and when they occurred 6. Methods used to maintain and what has/has not worked 7. How your life has changed (losing vs maintaining perspective) 8. Words of wisdom/cautionary tales/stories of beating the odds Thanks!
  4. Same happened to me immediately post op but I don’t remember thinking about it after a month, so it did go away. I also believe it was from drinking cold things during that period. As mentioned above, stick to warmer fluids to see if that helps.
  5. I can only tolerate eggs sometimes, mostly hardboiled. Also if something smells like eggs, I can’t eat it. Even if I already started eating, I can’t continue. It’s been this way my entire life so it might be a true aversion (even my children inherited my egg smelling abilities) but after revision, it became 10 times worse.

Thanks! The dress was really nice but as usual I can’t get anyone to take decent full length pic of me. Sister was studying management and daughter is nervous but excited for college.
  7. I believe everything is 100% edible (minus cake boards) (names removed for anonymity)
  8. I think both you and @ms.sss probably have the right idea. Smaller desserts are probably a lot more appealing.
  9. Lol! I didn’t make this but I’m honored that you think I could (grocery store cake ?) Buy one of my nieces is a custom cake maker. Her cakes are gorgeous.

Now she’s taller than me ?
  11. What does the insurance wording say? “BMI of 40 or X with comorbidities Likely it is an either/or situation not necessarily both but if it’s not written clearly, contact them for the clarification.
  12. Animal: lamb, trout, chicken & turkey Plant: tofu, chickpea Powder: Isopure dutch chocolate and Premier chocolate (I add cocoa powder to both for a genuine chocolate milk flavor Shakes: Core Powder Water: Protein 20 Collagen: Great Lakes unflavored
  13. My first cheat meal was 4 months post op (with surgeon’s approval) now 6+ yrs post op all meals are cheat meals! Joking! Maybe 10% now. But I’m a big fan of a long term sustainable diet that you can adjust as needed. So alternate between strict and relaxed however I still prioritize protein.
  14. My daughter’s High School graduation cake. After the party we threw away 1/2 of it instead of eating everything. I’m noticing that cake isn’t a big thing with anyone I know anymore. Anyone else noticed desserts are being left uneaten?

It’s that time of year again! Sister’s hooding ceremony and daughter’s High School graduation ?

That’s more than a tiny lump!!! Looking fit ?
  17. Breakfast bagel: This keto bagel was drier than I remember so it took me 35 mins to eat it. I usually don’t eat anything for that long (I give up from boredom) but I wanted to actually eat a real meal at an appropriate time today. Last night my BF asked if I was on my cycle already because I was eating jalapeño kettle chips at 11pm ?. The problem was I delayed breakfast to 2pm because I was busy and it extended my meals late into the night… so no more of that!
  18. I hope your recovery is going smoothly and the craziness of recent will become a footnote in a long and wonderful life ❤️
  19. This makes me want soup even though it’s spring/summer in the northern hemisphere ?
  20. Do you have a recipe for the chicken?
  21. Breakfast sandwich (eggs and vegan sausage). I only ate 75% of it, then began to feel nauseous. Idk if it was the eggs (can’t always handle them) or the high fat macros , hormones or what but I won’t repeat this meal anytime soon.
  22. Well now I want to work out ?
