Too much protein/Kidney stones
I don't know what's considered too much protein, but I've been getting 200 to 250 g a day. 100g doesn't seem extreme by any measure

Can we take Aleve?
It is an NSAID. But it is unique as it is less harsh on your stomach than other nsaids. I was prescribed that after my sleeve for that reason

Thoughts on air fried sweet potatoes? Is this "healthy"?
Which is rather unfortunate because religion is a bunch of made up mumbo Jumbo. And it's highly unfortunate for nutrition to be so subjective. I mean there's plenty of black and white when it comes to nutrition, but that gray area...

Thoughts on air fried sweet potatoes? Is this "healthy"?
Well I mean there's surely a scientific basis of whether sweet potatoes are healthy or not. Is it clear, not really... The general gist I'm getting is they're fairly good for you, but I would be better off boiling them rather than baking/air frying them. I'm contemplating boiling then air frying them to see how this turns out

Vitamin Patches
Seriously why would anyone use a vitamin patch? You can take pills and chewables after surgery just fine, which are actually proven to work and much cheaper. I get that people have crazy beliefs but vitamin patches are stupid honestly

Ivc filter?
Your husband being asked doesn't sound unreasonable. You on the other hand is just weird. Is your bmi like 80 or something?

Better vegetables I can think of, better carb laden ones though?

Thoughts on air fried sweet potatoes? Is this "healthy"?
I'm not losing I'm maintaining and trying to add on muscle mass. And eat very little carbs (which hurts my workouts). I love sweet potatoes though, and know they're pretty healthy. The easiest way I've found to cook them is slice them up (usually 2 small ones) and spray them with Pam for like 2 to 3 seconds (I know it says calorie free, but it's still oil) then toss them in an airfryer I estimate this comes to somewhere between 25 to 50 calories of oil. (very likely on the lower end of that calculation) But would you consider this a fairly healthy source of carbohydrates, or am I basically justifying to myself a way to eat French fries?

Hot flash after food
Weird and a shame that beef would cause dumping. What kind are you using? (96/4 84/15 etc) and are you making burgers or something? Mixing it with anything unusual? It sounds very much like dumping, it's just strange that a lean protein would cause it

Gastrojejunostomy
This is incorrect. The sleeve is the first half of the Duodenal Switch procedure not the bypass. They are quite different. Let me rephrase that. With a sleeve the first part of the bypass is done, dissection and what not . A patient getting a bypass after a sleeve will typically be easier than a patient just getting a bypass.

Food in Food out
What surgery you had should be a factor. If its a bypass it could be related to that Could be dumping syndrome Could be lactose intolerance Much less likely (as I dont see how this would be related to surgery) something like celiac disease Could also be bacterial overgrowth (especially if you had a bypass) Lots of stuff related to your surgery that could cause this, all of which should be addressed with your surgical team. Of course its also possible that its entirely unrelated

Best shake???
Then what is the extra 40 calories made up of?

I found a protein shake on Amazon that has 40 grams of protein in each carton
I have some in my fridge. I think they taste disgusting, but that's very subjective and to each their own Nutritionally they're very good which is why I bought them in the first place. If you don't mind the taste or the price I think it's a very good shake. Another option is using a RTD shake and mixing it with whey protein isolate. For example for breakfast sometimes I'll take a premier protein shake (vanilla) and add a scoop of syntrax whey protein isolate nectar. This turns my 160 calorie shake into a 260 calorie shake with roughly 55g of protein. And makes it much more filling and helps me get my protein intake. It also opens up a whole host of flavor combinations to keep things interesting and exciting so I don't get bored. I strongly recommend using a shaker bottle or blender if doing this though as rtd protein shakes don't mix as well as milk typically does But I'm also 8 months postop and trying to gain muscle (and not really lose weight) so my goals may be different from someone in the losing phase

Best shake???
The last few weeks I've been freezing my premier protein shakes, then putting them in a blender with some skim milk, Splenda, and pb2 peanut butter powder. Basically like a milk shake But I think freezing premier shakes then putting them in a blender makes them much thicker and more enjoyable. Definitely a poor man's milkshake, and honestly it's more filling as well. The pb2 is just the icing on the cake but coffee will make it like a frappe too

It's extremely overpriced (I get this is a non issue if you have money), it's significantly higher in calories than most protein shakes, and only 55% of the calories in it are from protein (which is extraordinarily low for a protein shake). I feel like the purpose of using a protein shake in your diet is to have a concentrated source of protein. If a shake is barely over 50% protein, that means the other 50% is pretty much a waste (let's be honest nobody drinks a protein shake to hit their saturated fat requirements or carbs). When I'm drinking shakes (which I do almost everyday) the goal is to get as much protein as possible for as little calories as possible (although sometimes ill add sources of fiber to it). I wouldn't go so far as to call Labrada bad, as it's certainly not bad. But when something like a premier protein shake is less than half the price, and 75% of the calories are from protein, it's no contest. And that's not even comparing them both to whey protein isolate shakes (ie syntrax nectar) that are 90% + calories of protein. I want my protein shakes to be mostly protein. So I can get my fats and carbs from meats, nuts, fruits, and vegetables. "wasting" almost 10g of fat on a protein shake is exactly that a waste to me. Especially if you're in the losing phase and your calories are extremely restricted. That said I keep some protein bars at work for days where I end up working overtime. And the macros for them are even worse than the shakes. But it's not an everyday routine, it's more of a convience for days where the unexpected comes up at work and I can grab and go.

Gastrojejunostomy
It sounds like youre pretty much having a sleeve to bypass conversion, and your doctor just wants to call it something that sounds more complicated and intelligent. Having a gastric sleeve is basically the first part of a gastric bypass, so having a bypass after a sleeve is a fairly simple operation. Its possible your surgeon is doing something slightly different, but the bottom line is itll be very similar to having a sleeve > bypass revision

i cant speak for people with the bypass as their digestive process is substantially altered. But with the Sleeve I genuinely dont believe that to be true. The human body is smart and designed around not having a constant source of nourishment, and can take hours to fully digest food. Especially for those of us who are relatively bigger (ie most people who havent lost their weight yet) the notion that we could only absorb 25-30g of protein in a sitting is crazy. With the Sleeve our stomachs are smaller so we cant eat as much, but digestion is otherwise normal. Now ideally we would spread our meals out, but if youre trying to get a higher protein intake (150-200g a day) theres no fricken way youre going to be able to accomplish that only getting 25-30g of protein in a meal while eating 7 meals a day I have a relatively higher protein intake (I aim for 175g + a day) and try to have 4 meals with 40-60g of protein at each, and while anecdotal im in the best shape of my life (on a side note I dont think the Labrada shake is a good choice, but I did use it for a few months post op as I enjoyed the flavor and it helped me get through the early stages of my post WLS life)

I used to drink these shakes. They taste pretty good, cookies and cream was something I consumed regularly for a while. But theyre too expensive, and have too many calories. Im much happier with premier protein shakes than the Labrada ones. The only positive about Labrada is its lactose free (but id still rather take a premier with a lactose pill) I would encourage only buying the Labrada shakes when they are on sale though. Many of the websites that sell it frequently have 20-30% off coupons, which lowers the price to something less insane.

Best shake???
I don't understand this. It's incredibly easy to add carbohydrates. She wants you to get some carbs have an isopure and some applesauce after. This makes no sense to me. And isopure is very common postop, hell that's what my hospital gives you while you're there

Low carb high protein for 2 weeks
I would take your endocrinologist advice over your surgeons when it comes to this. Ideally you want to take care of both, but your endocrinologist is going to know and understand your diabetes, while the surgeon knows surgery. Personally I would get your endocrinologist advice in concrete clear language, and share this with your surgeon. (be sure not to misonterpt anything or change someone's words)

Best shake???
It does say on there use a shake of your own choosing. Those are all powders and not RTD drinks. It's fine as recommendations but honestly what protein powder you use doesn't matter, as long as the macros aren't ****

Needing to pee all the time
Not sure, but figure this is "probably" related to my sleeve (roughly 4 months post op) but the last few weeks my bladder has been on a different planet. I find myself needing to urinate more than ever, sometimes several times in a short span of time. Ive never had any urinary issues before, so thought this could be potenitaly be related to something with my sleeve. My "best guess" is im consuming too much B vitamins and im peeing frequently to get rid of them. Of course this is completely a guess. Is there anything related to a sleeve that could be causing this ? I do have an appointment coming up with my surgeon, so I plan on discussing it further then. And im pretty sure im way too young for run of the mill urology problems And no I am not drinking crazy amounts of water a day, hell if anything my fluid intake is probably on the lower side (although my urines always clear except shortly after taking multi/b vitamins, and im not worried about dehydration)

Revision from sleeve to Rny bc of gerd
Im curious what were the insurance requirements for you to switch from a sleeve to bypass because of severe GERD ? Presumably did you need to meet the full requirements for a bypass again (even though you already had a sleeve) or are they different for a complication related revision? I have pretty bad GERD but wanted a sleeve, now im having my doubts and leaning towards the bypass. Im concerned I wouldnt qualify for a bypass after having a sleeve though, which makes me lean towards just doing the bypass
