Yep, that's the way to respond to someone who's suffering from depression. Classy and empathetic.

Well crap! Wish I'd known that before I lost my 135lbs using Protein Shakes with artificial sweeteners. SMH

I guess I could stop drinking them now.

Yes! I had a coworker ask me if I'd been on vacation for the past few months & she passed me nearly everyday but didn't notice me until I dropped "43" pounds, smh!

Great stuff! My ultimate physical goal is to be able to make this 14-mile round-trip hike and climb the cables to the top of Half Dome in Yosemite National Park: https://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/halfdome.htm
That's the #1 item on my "Skinny Bucket List." Boarding an airplane and not having anxiety about the seat belt fitting or sitting next to a stranger is on there, too! Oh, and actually being able to buy some cool clothes (though I may still be forced to shop online for tall sizes).

Here's an obscure skinny bucket list item. I know its weird but all the years I was obese I daydreamed of going into my favorite coffee shops in the winter/holiday season wearing cute fuzzy sweaters and boots. Just the soothing image of looking and feeling cute and cozy, ordering a warm cup of coffee has always been a dream. So this winter, that's going to happen!!

CBT research is proving quite successful with certain addictive behaviors, that would be my first stop if I were looking into professional help. Remember that dysfunctional behaviors need to be replaced with new behaviors and that setbacks do not equal failure. Good luck to you!

And the hard work? That's the stuff I've done in therapy. food was a self destruct button: the work is in fixing what made me push it and of course, in not seeking other even more dangerous buttons.
I love new me and I've forgiven and love old me - but she ain't coming back!

Absolutely. You are so right. I have virtually no support at all--single mom, etc. But this is not the time for pity party. Lesson learned and onward bound! Typing this as I walk in the park. Brand new day, brand new page, brand new opportunity to succeed! Thanks!

So maybe it's like an emotional break up with food? Like if I broke up with someone I would look at old pics and think about good times even if I knew I shouldn't.

You can often find out about people by clicking on their name. It takes you to their profile and if they have filled it out you can see their stats. Outside is almost 2 years out and almost to goal.
Everyone is different. Some can handle carbs all the time, some can't, ever. Some can't lose with carbs, but they need them for maintenance.
We are a varied group. From the 180lb lady with PCOS but no true food addiction to the 700lb man that is bed ridden and food is his life... and everything in between.
We are all here to make ourselves healthier and happier, and if what we were doing before worked, we wouldn't be HERE!
Most of us didn't gain weight eating salmon and asparagus. That IS something we have in common.

Nope. I'm not really being guided by my surgeon or a NUT since I'm getting my surgery out of the country. But from the support groups I'm on, and the recipes page, everyone seems to be following a keto diet. (Low carb, high fat, high protein) So many recipes include cheese, butter, etc. Everything is ok in moderation, but eating "sandwiches" where your bread is replace by cheese constantly just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I love healthy fats (avocado, nuts, etc) but too much fat like butter and cheese scare me :x

I've stuck to home brewed coffee for the most part, or Starbucks Double Shot espresso drinks in a can (the small like 5oz ones). They're lower-carb and lower-sugar. I've been tempted to try the sugar-free Redbull as I know I'm find with the carbonation (I've had a couple beers and did fine), but I know energy drinks can be harsher on the stomach, so I've been timid.

I just lapped all of the couch surfers by a MILE! RUNNING! Pushing a double stroller with 70 pounds worth of love bugs! [emoji4] It cooled down to 75, and I have one princess with strep and an ear infection and the other was acting more like a troll because she really needed to sleep. It might've been a 15 minute mile, but I couldn't have run 1/8 of that in October. Thank you for all of your stories that inspire me daily. No matter what, if you had the surgery, you haven't given up. No matter how impossible this journey seems sometimes, we're all fighters! Can't stop won't stop! [emoji122][emoji123]

"Out of the house" can mean so many things. Assuming you are in your car a lot, you could get an insulated lunch box with a cold pack inside.
    Hard boiled/deviled eggs
    Cottage cheese
salad in a jar (watch youtube videos on this)
Cold, cooked salmon (had this yesterday, so good!)
Cans of tuna or chicken.. bring Condiments and veggies in little containers/baggies
Nuts and seeds (I portion out 1 oz into little containers and keep in my purse)
    Cheese sticks
    fruit
Quiche or meatballs precooked in little-muffin pan (I love my little-muffin pan.. great for small-portion control.. easy grab and go size..).
I picked up some little 2oz clear plastic disposable covered containers from the grocery store. They are very handy.
    Good luck!

My surgeons diet was after the soft solids when i introduced solids was Protein and vegtables only till 3 months post op, then i was able to introduce fruit but only aloud one fruit a day and no carbs (bread, pasta and rice) till 6 months post op. Now i still stay on high protein lower carb diet, no real sugar only substitutes, greek yogurts, cheese sticks, eggs, whole grains and sweet potatoes only, i also try to drink as much Water as possible. Minimum of 64 oz to at least a gallon 120 oz.
I do love to use weights at the gym and im working on building muscle since that helps to burn fat.

Congrats! I was just sleeved on 4/19 and taking it one day at a time. I did have nausea and gas pains in the hospital which made me feel pretty miserable for a day. I had my first day home yesterday and sleeping in my OWN bed was awesome! Looking forward to feeling better each and every day now.

NSV's ??? Where do I start ? From the minute I wake up is the start of a NSV because no more sleep apnea ! Getting showered and nicely dressed is a pleasure , not a challenge because of my weight. Clothes look and fit waayyy better. All day, no more digestive issues, everything works normally. I enjoy talking to people because they are happy to talk to me, I think the self confidence comes through. I love my exercise classes ( swimming and Pilates ) because I can see and feel my body getting stronger and more toned. My pants are getting loose. Again. I can do everyday normal things wihout even thinking about it. Yep, EVERYDAY is a NSV for me !!!!
