DropWt4Life got a reaction from Fatgirl56 in Pre Op Diet
I was required a 1 week liquid diet. Did 1 week clean eating diet followed by a 2 week liquid diet. Did a green Protein Shake in the mornings to help avoid Constipation. 1 small frozen banana, 1 1/2 cups frozen spinach, 1 cup Water, 1 cup unsweetened almond milk, 2 tbsp of flax seeds, 1 banana Premier Protein shake, 1tbsp PB Fit Peanut Butter, 4 ice cubes. Blended this in a nutri ninja. Provided a thick delicious shake every morning that kept me full til mid afternoon. (39g Protein/10.5 Fiber) The morning shake made about 33 oz. I drank 1/2 early morning, and the other half before lunch. I then followed up with 1 Premier Protein shake (30g Protein) around 3-4 pm, and 16 oz. chicken Bone Broth (18g Protein) at around 7 pm. After that, maybe a sugar free Jello or popsicle for snack around 9pm. This kept me content all day every day, although I admit I had to doctor up the bone broth. Got tired of the same flavor. I lost 23 pounds during pre-op liquid diet, and didn't feel hungry or constipated. (I only lost 2 pounds clean eating the first week for a total of 25 pounds in 3 weeks.)

I'm willing to bet that they would have all been for it if you were having a boob job or Tummy Tuck instead....But since you are doing something to improve your health and quality of life, nobody wants you to do it. Well, screw them! This is your life, and your journey. A true friend would want you to be healthy and happy. Do what you need to do for yourself, and everybody that has an issue can just kick rocks!

    incase this helps anyone....

I had my sleeve done this week on Tuesday 1st Aug.

I got out of hospital late afternoon on Wednesday and travelled by car 4 hours home. Wednesday was hell - I was in a lot of pain and struggling to drink.
Thursday, totally different - no pain killers. Had a sleep late morning for a couple of hours and then did 4 hours office work on the laptop. Drinking was managable
Friday / Today - I got a lift in to work at 10.30am and a lift home again at 4.30pm. I'll start driving again on Monday. Drinking is no problem and no pain killers. I feel pretty much normal.

You look great! You have lost 1/4 of your body weight in only 4 months! Keep up the good work. Don't stress out. You will get where you want to be as long as you keep trusting in your doctor's program. Good luck with those final kgs!

I agree with Berry78. Do not feel ashamed of not being able to lose and keep the weight off. Millions of people are going through the same thing. That is why the weight loss industry is a multi-billion dollar industry. Have this surgery, and keep your head up. With this tool, you will lose weight and keep it off...Keep telling yourself that, because your self talk is an important tool as well. Good luck on your journey.

Yep the worst is the first two days. It is amazing how you do start to feel better within a short time. I was feeling 90 % better the end of the first week and then went back to work in my office the end of the second week. I am so thankful i did it and the surgery is behind me. Good luck and keep those spirits positive.

How much liquids do you drink a day? I was stuck at the same weight for 4 days but I just increased my liquids and the scale finally moved again. Friendly tip that helps me drink more liquids...you know those baby Water bottles....the ones you can chug super quick before surgery lol they are actually 8oz water bottles, they don't look it but they are! I put my liquids in that and find that I finish 8 oz way quicker then staring at a 16 oz water bottle or 20 oz bottle, 8 of those little water bottles throughout your whole day 8oz Vitamin water zero, 8 oz of crystal light with water, 8 oz diet snapple, 8 oz protien shake, 8 oz water, etc. lol ....I mix it up so I don't get sick of whatever I'm drinking. - cake walk. Maybe try that if you're having a hard time with liquids? don't get discouraged we're still soooo early in our journey....don't forget you just had an organ removed from your body ONLY 8 days ago...don't be so hard on yourself. You're body is still healing and trying to adjust to what just happened. <3

You look fabulous! I am inspired by your loss of inches/kg in such a short time. What you are doing is obviously working but you may have hit a plateau and will have to battle through. I get the fear of self sabotage and feel the fear of potential failure at only five weeks out. We are our own worst enemy.

    Uhhh... yeah.. no.
Obesity isn't my fault, or your fault. It is a problem with society, the food supply, technological advancements, and the like. Chemicals, hormones, drugs.. our bodies are bombarded from conception with so many unnatural substances that we aren't adapted to.
Surgery is our one opportunity to level the playing field. It's a shame only that you perceive this as anything other than that.

I can understand how you feel. I wrote a blog for 8 years about busting my butt to lose weight and promising myself that I would never have surgery. Well, last year I had it. My only regret now is that I let myself get in my own way for 8 years.
It's ok to have emotions about it, but dang...you're doing something, the only shame is in the not trying.

DropWt4Life got a reaction from JTHmom in Sept 2! Ready to meet Dr Illan
My BMI is 39, but I do have a lot of muscle as well. I don't look like most other people that are over 300 pounds. People often think that I am in the 240-250 range. I have surgery scheduled with Dr. Illan on 8/7. I have never heard of this being an issue, but I am nervous about it as well. I think that if you were approved at a certain weight, the surgery should be performed even if you do lose weight. After all, that is the purpose of a pre-op diet. They want you to be as healthy as you can be, so there is a better surgical outcome with hopefully less complications. Good luck on your journeys.

Several months after RNY gastric bypass, you will transition from the Weight Loss phase to the Maintenance phase. Eventually your weight loss will diminish and you will slide quite naturally into the next phase. I went through this transition at around 7 months post-op. Being successful in the Maintenance phase requires a different strategy than the Weight Loss phase. The following article describes my experience in the Maintenance phase. http://www.breadandbutterscience.com/Surgery2.pdf

DropWt4Life got a reaction from Coreysmissus in What types of things do you pack for surgery in Mexico?
For airline travelers, you can take bouillon cubes with you instead of broth. That way, you can ask for a cup of hot Water at a restaurant and make your own. The same goes for Protein Powder and cold water for meals.
I know a guy that had a lbl after losing weight. He carried a cane with him for a few days, because he wanted to baby his stomach and not put pressure on his sutures. Best of luck to you!

A technicality? That is just ridiculous! I am so glad you were able to still get the surgery. On the bright side, you'll have a decent amount of time to get the recovery your body needs! I wish you the best of luck.
