Pre Op Diet

My surgeon is requiring me to do a 3 week liquid preop diet. I was mentally prepared for 2 weeks not 3. I think I'm going to die lol. No but seriously this is going to be hard. Does anyone else have to do 3 weeks instead of 2 weeks?

  • I love reading about everyone else's experiences. I start my liquid diet on 8/16 and surgery is 8/30. I have two weeks of liquid protein diet before surgery. And just like others have said, NO CHEATIN

Hopefully it won't be too bad. Just try to stay focused on the end goal. I am not looking forward to 3 week liver shrink diet, but I have to do it. Sent from my SM-G900V using BariatricPal mobile

Hey girl, that is so cool. Your absolutely right each surgeon is different. I wish my diet was like that. That should make it a little easier to get though and not have hunger headaches. Sent from

Oh wow lol. When do you start?

Good Luck! I am nervous about officially starting tomorrow. I have been trying it out this week just during breakfast and lunch and I was so hungry.

Thank you, good luck to you too. That's what I'm afraid of. I asked my nutritionist about what I can take for hunger headaches. He said "Ohh you'll be fine. You won't get hungry becomes you'r drinking protein" I'm like dude I'm going to be starving lol. I wish you all the best of luck though.

You know that's a good question. But I guess all Dr. Are different. My nutritionist considers that to be there "liquid diet" I'm guessing because it's all liquid for the Entire day with one small meal. So I guess with it being majority liquid then it's still a liquid diet. I have no clue lol. All I know is I'm still going to be starving regardless lol.

I feel you. I only had a 2 week preop, but with post op I will have 5 weeks of liquid diet altogether. Im in my 3rd week right now and its definitely challenging, but gets easier after the first week. The frozen meals will help! Good luck to you :)

And just like others have said, NO CHEATING for me either. I'm going in to this hovering 300 pounds and I am ready to get that number down. I already quit smoking which was so hard for me. But we can do this guys!!! Good luck to you all!!

Ok cool. I'm glad to hear that it does get easier because I was really freaking out. Good luck to you and your journey as well.
