Hey everyone, I had my sleeve done on 9-12-17. I went through OSU and my surgeon was Dr. Noria. I had the best experience going through OSU and Dr. Noria is an amazing Dr. If you have any questions I am more than happy to answer. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

  5. Hey there. I'm new to this side of the app. I was sleeved on 9-12 and I'm in the same boat as you all. I lost 20lbs my first week post op then another maybe 5lbs the next week. I have not lost since. I've been going up a d down between the same 20lbs. I'm losing inches though. My clothes are fitting a lot better. I've been monitoring my body with one pair of jeans that were extremely tight on me. They have gotten loose. I'm not sure what's going on with the scale but I am happy with the inches coming off. It looks like this maybe a common thing since we all are experiencing it. Just keep your head up. [emoji1] Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Approval time- Anthem BCBS

Hi, I have Anthem BCBS and I'm in Ohio as well. My approval was done within 24hrs. I think it depends on how backed up they are. Were are you having your surgery at? Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Going back to work

Does your employer offer short term disability? I was able to get six weeks off using short term disability with full pay. Maybe you can check in to that and it may help out a lot. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

  9. I have BCBS-OHIO. I had to do 6 months of weight management with my PCP as well. I did not lose not 1lbs. Then at my last two appointments I had gained 2lbs then 3lbs. So I was up a total of 5lbs and I was still approved for surgery. I believe if you are under a certain BMI you are not required to loose weight during your 6 months of your weight management program. My BMI was 48. Your bariatric coordinator would have went over that information with you if you were required to loose weight for your insurance to approve you. It doesn't sound like you have anything to worry about. But if you are still concerned call your insurance company and ask. I hope this helps a little. Switch insurance mid-process

I have BCBS-OHIO and I had to do a 6 months weight management program with my PCP. So I think as far as you having the 6 months already done it shouldn't be a problem with BCBS accepting it. Unless yours requires a 9 months but I highly doubt it. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. Hey everyone, just wanted some of everyone's opinion. What would you consider to young for weightloss surgery? Is 16 to young or should a parent wait for there child to turn 18 to consider surgery as an option? I'm asking for a friend who's child has been struggling with obesity. 18 days post op

Hi LosingIsWinning, I had surgery on September 12th as well. The first week I lost 20lbs then my weight loss just stopped. I was confused and upset. I couldn't understand, was I doing something wrong. I had my first stall for about 1 week. When I went to my first post op appointment my Dr said I was doing good and not to worry. She said follow her instructions and I will lose the weight. This week so far I have lost 5lbs. The main things you want to try hard to accomplish everyday is getting in your 60g of protein and 64oz of fluids. You will have stalls but everyone body is different as to when your stall will end and start losing weight again. Maybe also reach out to your nutritionist to get specific tips from your surgeon. 15. So I'm 1 week post op and I am losing weight like crazy. I have already lost 20lbs. I got on the scale this morning and I gained 2lbs. I'm not understanding how. I have been struggling getting in my protein and my water. Could this be the reason why I gained the 2lbs? I hate my protein shakes so I've been trying to eat more tuna and etc. When I drink my water I feel a lot of pressure in my chest then it's like I can feel it as it goes down my esophagus. Well, Sometimes when I'm eating too. It feels very uncomfortable. Has anyone experience this? Any advice is helpful. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

How long were you off work?

I'm taking 6 weeks off. Using short term disability. My employer pays 100% of your pay, so I'm taking full advantage of it and taking the whole 6weeks with pay... You should check with your employer to see if they offer short term disability. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Vacation Post Surgery

I think you should be fine. You'll be a week in a half out. Going off of my experience all my pain was gone and I had a good amount of energy when I hit a week in a half. I was sleeved on 9-12 and I don't take any of my pain meds anymore. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
  18. When I went through my 6 months I started in January and I missed February. I had to make up January and February. So my six months was from March to August instead of the original dates January to June. I have Anthem BCBS. It's definitely up to your insurance and how picky they are. BCBS was extremely picky. They literally want six consecutive months. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. Most likely it's the gas pain from the air they pumped in to the stomach. The other pain most likely is coming from the Incision were the stomach was removed from. That incision hurts really bad. I was giving about 10 meds to take home. One was for Nausea, I had a prescription for oxi and tylonal to control pain. Those were just a few. Maybe your friend can ask for some medication to control the nausea and pain. I hope your friend feels better soon. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Protein and water

Oh ok, I understand. I guess that's what can be confusing because I was off of being on all liquids when I left the hospital. I'm allowed to eat anything that can fit through a funnel or that is mushy. I can even eat chille. It's definitely true that every Dr is different. I see my Dr on Monday so I will definitely review everything with her to be on the safe side. Thanks for your advice. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Protein and water

Ok, thanks for the tips. I'm on that stage now with being able to eat mushy foods. I will definitely check to make sure my interpretation of mushy foods is the same as what there meaning of mushy foods is. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Protein and water

I can understand were you are coming from. I'm on the step two diet and the instructions that was giving to me was I can eat anything that can fit through a funnel. So if it is mashed up really well and it is soft then I can eat it. I get the pre made tunn that comes in the package. There only 1$ you can get them at dollar tree. There very high in protein and it comes pretty well smashed up. That 1 packaged can last me all day. My portion is very small but I can eat things like that. I will definitely try some new flavors in my protein shakes. Thanks for your comment and your advice. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
  23. Hey, I was sleeved on 9/12 as well. Surgery went well. But felt like **** since surgery. I just really hate feeling uncomfortable. I can't get my water in for the life of me. Every time I drink it hurts. My protein shakes are so disgusting now. And also the Incision were the stomach was removed hurts so bad. I am so over this stage of the Process. I'm just ready to feel normal again.... Ok I'm done with negative Nancy lol. On a positive note... Despite me feeling like **** I still wouldn't change my Decision for the world. I am sooo in love with my weight loss [emoji16] Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Protein Shakes

I've never heard of "insurance" covering protein shakes but if you have a flex spending account through your insurance it maybe an acceptable expense you can purchase on your flex spending card. I've never tried purchasing any protein shakes on my flex spending card but I will definitely try and see what happens [emoji16] Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

Lost 40 pounds in two weeks

Hi Chynadoll619, just wanted to put my two cents in now that I am 1week post-op lol. Ive been following this thread for awhile and it realy hurt me that you were getting bashed for your results appearing to be "unrealistic". I wanted to wait before I commented because I wanted to make sure I had facts to back up my comment. So I just wanted to tell you that I am definitely experiencing the same experience as you with the lbs just melting away [emoji4]. It does seem unrealistic but girl lol it is very realistic. I have lost 20lbs and I'm only 1 week post op. Keep in mind none of this 20lbs of weight loss came from my pre-op diet. I didn't loose any weight on my pre-op diet witch I didn't understand. But any way I couldn't loose that much in one month so loosing this much in just one week is crazy to me. Like you have mentioned in prior remarks everyone's body is different which means everyone's weight loss is going to be different. In God's eyes NOTHING is unrealistic. So with that being said keep your head up don't let know one discourage you from your journey, and I wish you much more success. You go girl [emoji1] Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
