  3. I would recommend to call your insurance company to check the status. I was very impatient so after about 4 hrs of my info being submitted I called my insurance to check the status of my claim and they told me my claim was approved. My coordinator did not call me for two days. When I spoke with her I just act surprised but I already new lol. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. I have BCBS-OHIO. I had to do a 6 consecutive month weight management with my PCP. PCP had to fill out medical clearance. Had to get a psych evaluation, blood work EKG and endoscopy, 5 year documented weight ( I got that from my obgyn). My bariatric coordinator submitted my info and I was approved with in 4 hrs. My deductible has already been meet so surgery is paid at 100%. My surgery is scheduled for 9-12. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. My surgery is September 12th. Pre-op starts 8-22. I have to do 3weeks. I'm with you -RSM.... this is going to be tough. Especially since my wedding anniversary is 9-3 and my husband and I are going out of town then we are headed to Cali on 9-7. I get back on the 10th then surgery is the 12th. I was telling my husband how in the world am I going to do this [emoji24][emoji36] Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. My coordinator told me 30 days. I was anxious also. I think I was way to anxious because I called anthem myself, probably about 4 hrs after my info was submitted to check the status and they told me it was approved. A few days later my coordinator called. I just act like I was surprised but I already new. You should call Anthem and check your self because you already could have been approved. 13. Also I did not get my appointment with my surgeon until I was approved by my insurance. At that appointment is when I received my surgery date. My PCP had to also fill out a medical clearance as well. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
  14. During my first appointment I had with my PCP I told him that I was on the journey to having the Bariatric Sleeve done. He thought it was a great idea. He advised me with my BMI being at 48 I definitely qualify. We just basically talked about the pros and cons and the good out weighted the bad as to why I should go through with it. After our talked he put me on an 1800 calorie diet and that was that. My coordinator emailed me a form that the Dr had to fill out on every visit. This form documented my 6 months of weight management that my insurance required for me to do. He would fax it to my coordinator on every visit. Did I stick to the 1800 calorie diet? I'll be honest, no I didn't. But I don't gain any weight. I actually maintained my weight witch was fine. Visit 2-6 I was in and out. I got weighed, vitals taken etc. Basically they just did what was being asked on the form they had to fill out. It wasn't anything major at all. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. Oh and also I had just my regular copays for my office visits. I believe if you are self pay then there is a set price and that covers everything. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
  16. When you meet with your coordinator through the Bariatric program / hospital that you're going through they will tell you everything you have to do that your insurance requires for you to do for them to approve you. So it comes down to if you are using insurance to pay for the surgery or are you a self payer. If you are using insurance then you won't know if you're approved until you go through all of there hoops and hurtle. From my insurance to approve me I either have to have a BMI of at least 40 or a BMI of at least 35 with 2 cormobilities like diabetes and high blood pressure. Then I had to complete the 6 months of weight management with my PCP. So you basically know if your insurance will approve you. My first attempt turning in my paperwork to my insurance I was denied and that was because my 6 months was not a consecutive 6 months so they made me do another weight management with my PCP. After that I was approved. Now I have a deductible that I have to meet before I can have surgery. Now that I'm approved I will have to pay my deductible. Because I've had other things happen through out the year my deductible has already been meet so now my surgery is paid 100%. If you're self pay I believe you just have to be paid in full before surgery. There should be options to do payment plans. I hope at least some of this help with the confusion. 17. Hi Melissa, I am so happy for you. We should definitely keep in touch. Have you started your pre-op diet yet. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
  18. Hello and welcome. I have Anthem BCBS. I had a coordinator that I worked with through Ohio State University Bariatric program. She made sure and helped me complete everything I needed for my insurance to approved me. When everything was completed she submitted it to my insurance. I waited for approval then I had an appointment to meet with my surgeon. That's when I received my surgery date. From what I'm hearing all surgeon are different. So I would say just go with the flow of how they are doing things. Maybe they kno w from experience that your insurance is easy approved so there not to worried. Or maybe surgery dates are backed up and they want to m ake sure they have you scheduled. It could be a lot of different reasons. What I've learned is ask a lot of questions. There are no stupid question. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

  21. I have Anthem BCBS-Ohio and Anthem required me to do a 6 months weight management program with my PVP. I started the program in January I missed my February appointment so Anthem made me start over. Because it had to be 6 consecutive months. They were supper picky. So my 6 months went from March to August. August 1st was my last appointment with my PVP. My info was sent to Anthem on August 1st and I was approved the same day . If you r insurance is as picky as mine do not mis any appointments because you will have to start your 6 months over. Oh I had to do a psych evaluation and blood work and all that. But I think that's the normal things that's need In general. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. Cool, thank you. I just screen shot this lol. These are great tips I will definitely use. I'm glad you're is going well. Goo d luck on your journey. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm ready to have the time of my life at an amusement park were I don't have to worry if I'm going to be Embarrassed worrying about if I can fit on the ride or not. 24. Thats cool. Now i don't feel crazy. I'm just supper nervous about this whole pr-op diet. I'm scared of Failing. I'm more nervous of the pre-op diet then the actual surgery lol. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
  25. You are very welcome. I'm doing good. My pre-op diet will be starting soon. I find myself wanting all my favorite foods knowing I won't be able to eat them for a long time after I start the liquid diet. So I'm kind of going through a food Funeral stage right now lol. I don't know if that's normal lol. I told my husband I want to go to Joe's Crab Shack next week before I start the liquid diet. I have a whole lot of other Restaurant request that I ran off to him as well. He's like why are you eating like you never ate before lol. I'm like you just don't understand. In my mind this is ok. But I'm not sure if it is lol. Other than going through my food Funeral I'm doing great. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
