I made beef broth from scratch it is very good, and I find it satisfies me for quite a few hours in the morning when I am in a hurry ,I take it on my way to work.
Get some beef bones from your local butcher if you can,
throw them in a pot bring to boil skim off the dark stuff and simmer for 24 hours,
Add two stocks of celery a large onion, two large Bay leaves, about a tablespoon of pepper corns, salt-and-pepper to taste, and I added organic beef bouillon the stuff that's in a jar I find it taste better than the powder,
Simmer for another hour or two and put only liquid into jars,
After the jars are sealed and cooled
Refrigerate, next morning heat and enjoy
Ps :I used a very big pot
    And had three large bones

Excellent thread. I'm having surgery tomorrow and I know I'll get a honeymoon period and I'm going to use that time to learn all I can. I don't want to fall into old habits. Just being on this preop diet has me feeling more in control and that is a great feeling. Thanks everyone.

I'm 17 days post op and it 100% gets better. Even in the last few days I've improved. I was exactly like you and just kept thinking what have I done? Day by day you'll find you feel a little bit better and you'll be able to drink more. Even if it's 4 more mouthfuls than the day before. Try not to do too much at once. If you can't do Vitamins then wait and try a few days later. Same with Protein. I also freeze Water into ice lollies and find it easier to tolerate than sipping water. But I do feel like I'm constantly drinking all day to get my water and protein in. You're definitely not alone. The first week is the toughest.

Today I am 2 months + 1day past my operation. I am down 55 lbs. But this journey is more than just the weight loss. This journey is about rediscovering myself. For the last 9yrs I have hid myself in the roles of being a wife and a mother. The heavier I got, the less I did. I became a bystander to my life. And worse, to my kids life.
This surgery has given me my courage back. My confidence. My sense of a adventure.
The day I had my surgery I started walking and have not stopped. Today I walked my 1st 5k. And I signed up for 2 more this summer. I cannot believe I am a 5k'er.
I went in to this surgery thinking I would lose weight and get healthier. I never considered I would find myself along the way!

23rd here, so very soon for me. Tuesday!
    - and once or twice doubts passed through my mind. I'm nervous, yes. But even more excited.
    Good things are in store!
It's natural. Because I know it's happening, and everything will change for the better.
    - that's how I see it.

Please don't worry about having to eat small portions and tiny bites of food. It's all you'll want to eat. I had a vsg on 28th Feb 2017, and without having to 'try' I just naturally want less on my plate, and cautiously take small mouthfuls and chew lots as I quickly learnt that if I ate big bites, or ate too fast I'd fill up after a couple of mouth fulls. So now I only want small portions (large portions are overwhelming), and want to eat small mouthfuls and eat slowly so I can enjoy the food more.

I was banded in 2011 and lost 80 pounds never quite got to my goal weight before I started having problems. Throwing up multiple times daily, bad acid reflux to the point I was needing 8 pillows to prop me up to sleep, frustrated. I was too tight at one point from the swelling from vomiting so much, that I had to get all Fluid removed emergently so I could swallow my own saliva.
I ended up getting all fluid removed and esophageal manometry done. I have a separate post about that experience. The manometry showed I had a slip. That was the documentation I needed in order to get a revision for mybinsurance to cover my revision. There needs to be documentation to support another surgery need. Unless you are cash pay.
I initially wanted sleeve because I thought it was the best option....however after speaking with my surgeon, he told me that I would more than likely have problems with severe reflux due to the pressure from the sleeve and since I was already miserable from the severe reflux I had, I wasn't about to have to deal with any more. I also have several friends who had sleeve done and have significant regain with reflux issues.
He said revising to RNY would resolve reflux and I wouldn't ever have to deal with that issue. I decided that was the best choice for me. I was revised to RNY back in 2015 and SO Happy! No reflux which is awesome! I can eat spicier foods again. I have lost a total of 125 pounds and at my goal weight of 175. I am also a Zumba Instructor and teach Zumba 4 days per week. I keep my Protein first, then veggies and fruit. I take my Vitamins daily and actually have not been sick as much either since revision. I have not had any issues. Love my RNY ❤ I only wished I had done RNY to start with. Do your homework, ask questions and decide what is right for you. Best of luck to you!
