Nice work! I am 207.3 today. Crossing my fingers for a loss like yours this week! It would blow my mind to see 201 on the scale! Did you do anything different this week for such a great loss?

My body seems to like a two pound a week loss, regardless of diet and activity choices.

Congrats on reaching an AMAZING milestone! I have to tell you how incredibly uplifting participation in this challenge has been. I was worried about being a "slow" loser, averaging about 1.5-3.0 pounds a week. This challenge has made me realize that everyone loses at a different rate, and my loss is actually quite typical. So comforting!

Redo2017 got a reaction from woodside in JULY SLEEVERS- How are you doing?
I was sleeved July 10th. I'm down 47.6 since the day of surgery and 62.6 since the start of my two week pre-op diet. I haven't had any food aversions, which has been great. I'm sticking to my plan which is protein, veg, limited fruit, some Beans, and cheese. Staying away from carbs and sugar. So far it has not been a struggle. I'm looking to increase my activity as well. So far I've just been walking and getting in around 10,000 steps a day on average. Congratulations on your great progress!

Redo2017 reacted to Half-Tum in JULY SLEEVERS- How are you doing?
It's a definite mind and body reconditioning for sure, but for me, it was the best decision to make.
I am 4 months out. I am eating "regular" food, but it's not the same experience food was in the past. I like that I have to consider what I'm putting in me, and I eat so little that it's almost a zen-like experience everytime I eat. I have to go slowly and deliberately, think about the taste and texture, make sure it sits well after I chew and swallow. Weird when you've been conditioned to shovel something down. I can't drink liquids and eat at the same time at all.
But it's all good though. I'm not hungry and don't waste time thinking about eating or the next time I'm gonna eat.
I walk a lot and enjoy it. That's new. I feel better. I forget still that I can probably do things now that were just a burden to me before. Like were going to a neighborhood trick or treat the other night and in the past I was always tired of walking but i wasnt at all.
I love putting on smaller clothes. I feel better going out.
As of this morning I am down 76lbs from where I was right before I started the pre surgery regimen. That's not chump change.
So yeah, there are a few things that are downsides but they're mostly mental and they can be worked out.
I'll post pics at 6 months

My surgery was on 7-10-17. I weighed in at 325 and today i am at 260. Can't tell you how good it feels to wear clothes in your closet that you thought you never would wear again. I am by no means a poster child for this surgery. I try to follow the diet and try not to overeat and of course try to drink that Water. I am human and it does not always happen. I am glad that i now have the size stomach that forces me to stop eating because food still taste magnificent. I do not go to the gym or do rigorous exercise. I do walk at a fast pace 5 days a week and i can tell my legs have lost a lot of weight. I know i did get myself into the bad situation i was in when i weighed 325, but i do not punish myself for it. If i have a bad day and i had a couple of french fries from my kids happy meal or a tiny piece of chocolate i do not condemn myself to a failure. Every new day we get a chance to wake up and be better than we were yesterday. I do not hold myself to an impossible standard that i will be perfect with my diet, but i do my best to be present and aware of my actions. Nurturing yourself takes tuff love, understanding, forgiveness, a foul mouth coach in the back of your head telling you to get of your ass and make something happen today. Life is not easy but we have the tools we need. Good luck to each of you and keep your energy positive. Blessing and Love to you all.

Redo2017 reacted to HealthierMe193 in JULY SLEEVERS- How are you doing?
Hello July Sleevers!
I have officially lost 100 pounds in total!!!! I lost about 50 pounds before my 7/3 surgery and 50 after but I still think its a neat coincidence that I am 100 days after surgery and I hit 100 pounds lost in total! I am so excited for the future and this shows me that I can and I WILL do this.
Reading everyone's posts has helped to motivate and inspire me. Thank you for sharing your journey.
We got this!

This is excellent advice. Keep in mind that someday soon you will have more food choices. It may be a struggle in the short term, but the results are worth it. Take a look through the success stories. All those people have had struggles on their journeys, but I would guess that every one of them would tell you it was worth it! I was super hungry at two weeks out. Now at three months out it seems like a distant memory and I'm glad I powered through it. Good luck and stay strong!

Wow. Talk about taking things too far. You must be a very unhappy person. I pity you, not only because you spew hatred, but also because you don't proofread.

Redo2017 reacted to Berry78 in Surgery didn’t work?
Ok, I can see it now. Everyone jumps on the "exercise is da bomb" train.. "let's all get out and run a marathon this time next year". The people this board is catering to are almost all newbies. They are newly out of surgery, trying to recover.. they are 100+ pounds overweight (and most of us didn't get that way by walking 5 miles a day).
Muscles can grow in weeks. Bone and ligament strength takes a year or more.
Lots of people are busy, going to work, maintaining their homes, caring for their families. The surgery comes along and takes months of recuperation, and introduces a completely new lifestyle that they are expected to carry on forever. Do you think that the whole package may be asking just a bit too much?
Patients' to do list after leaving the hospital:
Care for your wounds, and watch for signs of infection for the next month.
Relearn how to drink
Relearn how to eat
Watch and count every single thing that you are eating and drinking
Learn how to shop
Learn what complications you may or may not be experiencing to figure out if you should contact someone, or if it's normal.
Learn how to poop more, or less.
Learn how to feed the cats when you can't pick up more than 10lbs for the next month and a half.
Learn how to sleep when the normal position hurts
Learn that weight loss doesn't happen nearly as quickly and consistently as was imagined
Learn to trust the process
Learn that going for a walk leaves you more breathless postop than preop
Learn that the Vitamins that you have to take will actually make you sick and you have to find some that don't
Learn that loose skin has to be contained, or rashes develop
Learn what dehydration feels like, and how to prevent it
Learn that you're now sensitive to dairy (or other common foods)
...
Ok.. you get the point. For some people, all of the above comes naturally and there is no trouble. But, from the questions on this board, those people are few and far between. Adding intense, mandatory exercise on top of all of that might just cause some heads to explode.
Dr. V is saying.. hey, let's get control of all these issues.. get calories up a bit and your heads on straight, figure out the early challenges.. and THEN introduce a more rigorous exercise routine. Don't bite off more than you can chew, and don't feel GUILTY about not wanting to bite off more than you can chew.
If everyone says, hey, exercise is REQUIRED, NECESSARY, PEER REVIEWED, and you won't be successful without it.. that is putting ANOTHER burden on people that are in a delicate condition, and is possibly a contributing source of much of the emotional turmoil we see on this board.
I never said people should sit on the couch for the first year. But I'm saying taking a little walk, or easy yoga, or a swim is going to be just fine.. and to save the harder stuff for later.
People that are chomping at the bit and capable and desirous of more intensity.. well, they'll tell themselves that my advice is for all those couch potatoes and not THEM. So they'll ignore it and do what they want. That's fine. Nothing wrong with that. My goal is not to get everyone to hold him/herself back. My goal is to say, hey.. you don't have to kill yourselves. Bite off what you can handle right now, and take on more later when you're ready.
And the reality is that people that bite off too much at once do tend to hurt themselves. Slow and progressive advancement can help prevent many of those types of injuries. (And allowing time for weight loss, will also help take some of the pressure off of delicate joints).
I'm thrilled that early, intense exercise worked for you, Jess. You are an inspiration! It's just not for everyone.

Redo2017 got a reaction from njgal in Hair loss
In my experience, nothing is gonna stop the Hair loss. I started Biotin 2 weeks pre-op and have taken it daily since. I've gotten in 60-90 grams of Protein daily since post op week 2. hair loss started gradually in week 10. Now at week 12 it's really coming out. Thankfully I had thick hair to start with. All I'm hoping is that the loss isn't noticeable to others. I guess we all have to ask ourselves: would we rather be overweight and unhealthy with no hair loss, or thinner and healthier with a bit less hair? I'll take the latter every time!
